Our seminars and training days, on or off-site offer an inexpensive, concise and hands-on approach to learning most aspects of quality assurance on all kinds of consumer products. The instructors are all well-trained, experienced members of staff who play key roles in the everyday running of our UKAS accredited laboratories in Leicester and Leigh and have therefore earned a reputation of their own. Each session will not only provide in-depth knowledge on the chosen subject with scenarios experienced in the trade, but will also serve as a great means of networking with colleagues in the trade that are often in a similar position to your own. Previous seminars have proven to be a great success providing positive feedback. Such success has urged an expansion in training facilities and programmes allowing Intertek to provide you with a range of training sessions for every need. Where are they held? Most seminars listed and dated here are held on-site at our offices in Leicester. Our training facilities provide attendees a comfortable learning experience. Most scheduled seminars at our facilities have the added advantage of a laboratory tour providing clients with a unique experience of a working facility. Please ask when registering if your course includes a laboratory tour. We also offer a selection of textile courses at our Leigh facilities. These are marked in blue on the schedule (page 3). The maps for each location are included within this brochure for your reference (pages 25 & 26). Alternatively, certain of our seminars can be held in your own location. With advance booking, it can be arranged for the tutor to visit and hold the seminar in your offices giving an unlimited number of colleagues the opportunity to attend. The advantage of this is that your products can be discussed with the tutor focusing the seminar on particular areas that you may encounter as an organisation. To arrange a training day at your site, contact Trudi Marsden by phone on +44 (0)116 263 0330, or email [email protected] to discuss arrangements and costs. When do they begin and end? We offer two different lengths of seminars – Full Day and Half Day. Full Day seminars begin at 10:00 AM and conclude by 16:00 with lunch provided. Half Day seminars are 3 hours in length. These are Morning sessions. The Morning seminars begin at 10:00 and conclude by 13:00. Please note that lunch is not provided for Half Day seminars; however, we do provide a mid-morning breakfast/snack. Lunch & Refreshments Lunch and refreshments will be provided on site for Full Day Courses at Intertek. Please note that lunch is not provided for Half Day seminars; however, we do provide a mid-morning breakfast/snack. Inform Trudi Marsden in advance if you have any special dietary needs. Rates We know that training can be costly. We have tried to keep our costs within reason. Registration for each seminar or training day is £165 plus VAT per attendee per full day seminar or £85 plus VAT per attendee per half day. At this cost, you can afford to professionally train every person in your department! Note the Product Safety Training course is priced differently from the rates listed above. Although we try our best to accommodate our seminar attendees, registration cancellations made within 24 hours of a seminar will be subject to a Cancellation Fee of £25. Registration Please complete and return the Registration Form which may be found at the back of this brochure (page 24) by fax or email. 2012 Seminar & Training Programme Page 3 Our Team of Experts Toy, Hardlines, Footwear and Assessment Experts Philip Bullock, BSc (Hons), CChem, MRSC – Technical Manager – Toys & Hardlines Philip graduated in analytical chemistry in 1982. • South Gloucestershire Council Select Cadcorp to Provide Intranet Web Mapping
NEWS South Gloucestershire Council Select Cadcorp to Provide Intranet Web Mapping The popularity of Cadcorp SIS in local government continues as a web mapping engagement with South Gloucestershire Council (SGC) becomes the latest contract secured by the GIS software and services company. Cadcorp will initially be supplying its off-the-shelf product Web Map Layers with supporting desktop software, training and associated services. GIS is a corporate service used across SGC and Web Map Layers will be used to extend the reach and range of data deployed within the council. Central to the council’s decision to select Cadcorp was the software’s intranet and internet GIS capabilities such as easy display of mapping on all common browsers and mobile devices. Given the open nature of Cadcorp software, these components can be used to complement existing GIS and database products already utilised by SGC. Martin McGarry, managing director at Cadcorp commented: “In our experience, UK Local Authorities regularly undertake an evaluation to ensure they’re getting value for money and are implementing solutions that meet best practice. We’re delighted that Cadcorp’s portfolio of GIS products fulfilled SGC’s requirements.” Cadcorp software is being used by UK Local Government Authorities, either directly or integrated in other applications provided by Cadcorp’s technology partners. Web Map Layers is replacing legacy systems at a number of UK Local Authorities including Arun District Council, Warrington Borough Council, Sefton Borough Council and Halton Borough Council.
