The program provides participants with administrative support, advice, networking opportunities and a Showcase, as well as $4750 project funding for a specific creative project. It is a great opportunity for young artists from across all disciplines to take the next step in creating a sustainable career. The mentoring program is targeted at young people aged 18-26 who have completed some kind of arts training and/or spent some time in their chosen field. YAMP has space for 5 regional participants and in the past few years, these have been under represented in the application process, so Sarah Woodland from Youth Arts Queensland is coming to visit Mackay to connect with members of the youth arts sector and raise awareness about the program as a viable option for young/emerging artists in this region. She is interested in recruiting a “regional advocate” who would be responsible for profiling YAMP in their local community; and making contacts with key individuals within the arts sector in Mackay who may wish to become mentors or members of the YAMP advisory committee. If you or your organization are interested in meeting with Sarah while she is in Mackay contact her on (07) 3252 5115 / [email protected] If you want to check out the YAMP website, visit www.yaq.org.au/yamp 1.
