2010 U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team Unveiled Roster Includes 13 Current, Former WCHA Players

MADISON, Wis. – Three-time Olympians of Simi Valley, Calif., and Jenny Potter of Edina, Minn., one of 13 current and former Western Collegiate Hockey Association players, highlight the 21 players named to the 2009-10 U.S. Women's Olympic Team, as announced Dec. 18, 2009 by USA Hockey in Bloomington, Minn. The announcement was made in a ceremony at the Mall of America which included Mark Johnson, head coach of the 2010 Olympic team, and Michele Amidon, general manager of the U.S. squad. Named as the three goaltenders were Brianne McLaughlin, Molly Schaus and Jessie Vetter, the 2009 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award winner who won three NCAA championships at the University of Wisconsin. Named as six defensemen were Kacey Bellamy, , Lisa Chesson (Ohio State Univ.), Molly Engstrom (Univ. of Wisconsin), Ruggiero and Kerry Weiland (Univ. of Wisconsin). The opening round will match the No. 1 seed vs the No. 8 seed, the No. 2 vs No. 7, No. 3 vs No. 6, and the No. 4 seed vs the No. 5 seed.
