The work shall include the complete removal and satisfactory disposal of all growth including trees, stumps, logs and roots; organic material, and other debris or items that interfere with construction operations. The site clearing operations shall be conducted in a manner to insure minimum interference with roads, streets, walks, and other adjacent occupied or used facilities. PROTECTION OF TREES AND VEGETATION Trees and vegetation to be left standing shall be protected from damage incidental to clearing, grubbing, and construction operations, by the erection of timber barriers or by such other approved means. Such barriers must be placed and approved by the Engineer before construction operations can proceed. The protection shall include unnecessary cutting, breaking or skinning of roots; skinning and bruising of bark; smothering of trees by stockpiling construction materials or excavated material within the drip lines; excessive foot and vehicular traffic including parking of vehicles within drip line. Trees and vegetation receiving damage shall be repaired or replaced in a manner acceptable to the Engineer. Trees designated to be left standing within the cleared areas shall be trimmed of dead branches 1½ inches or more in diameter and shall be trimmed of live branches to such heights and such manner as directed. Limbs and branches to be trimmed shall be neatly cut close to the hole of the tree or main branch. Cuts more than 1½ inches in diameter thus made shall be painted with an approved tree wound paint. CLEARING AND GRUBBING Clearing shall consist of the felling, trimming and cutting of trees into sections, and the satisfactory disposal of the trees and other vegetation designated for removal, including down timber, snags, brush, and rubbish occurring within the areas to be cleared. Trees, stumps, roots, brush, and other vegetation in areas to be cleared shall be cut off flush with or below the original ground surface except such trees and vegetation as may be indicated or directed to be left standing. Clearing operations shall be conducted so as to prevent damage by falling trees to trees left standing, to existing structures and installations and to those under construction, and so as to provide for the safety of employees and others. PUBLIC WORKS COMMISSION 02110 - 1 OF 2 SITE CLEARING Grubbing shall consist of the removal and disposal of stumps, roots larger than 3 inches in diameter, and matted roots from the designated grubbing areas. This material, together with logs and other organic or metallic debris not suitable shall be excavated and removed to a depth of not less than 3 feet below any subgrade shoulder and slope surfaces in excavated areas indicated to be grubbed and in areas indicated as construction areas under this contract such as areas for buildings, roads, streets, shoulder areas, sidewalks. Depressions made by grubbing shall be filled with suitable material compacted to make the surface conform to the original adjacent surface of the ground. The required fill material will not be measured or paid for but should be included as part of the grubbing cost. Grubbing inside the drip line of trees to be left standing shall be by hand methods. The combined item of clearing and grubbing shall also include the removal and satisfactory disposal of fences, steps, walls, building foundations, pavement, other rubble and debris. DISPOSAL All timber, logs, stumps, roots, brush, rotten wood, and other debris from the clearing and grubbing operations shall be disposed of off-site in an approved disposal pit. Such approval will include the conditions covering the disposal of such logs and stumps without burning, including the disposal area off-site. The contractor will be responsible for compliance with all state and local laws and regulations. Burning of timber and other refuse is not allowed within the City of Fayetteville. Where permanent and temporary right-of-ways are offset, the additional temporary area may be used as a "buffer" zone to aid in sediment control where possible. Clearing shall consist of

Abstract: In recent times, infrared thermography has been often applied to sport science, in order to evaluate athletes’ performance in relation to their thermal behaviour. As there is a lack of studies for the sport of fencing, this paper aims to provide preliminary results showing the thermal behaviour of fencers of different competitive level and to provide a methodology for its assessment. In particular, thermal images were acquired before, during and after the training, as well as the metabolic rate and the rate of perceived exertion, for eight fencers with different competitive levels (international/national/veteran). Results showed that in moderate environments there was any correlation between the environmental parameters and temperature trend on athletes’ bodies, while competitive level and thermal behaviour were connected. The presence of thermal asymmetries was also detected. In general, from these preliminary results, professional athletes presented the same temperature trend.

Fuller, Assistant City Manager/City Engineer SUMMARY The proposed action will approve a new Wastewater Services Agreement for operation and maintenance with Veolia Water West Operating Services, Inc., commencing on January 1, 2016, for an initial term of 5 years through December 31, 2020, with two 5- year optional extended terms available at the City's sole discretion. The new annual cost for sewer services has been negotiated at $3,825,000, compared to the current annual cost of $3,519,650 to account for additional services and certain program improvements. Additionally, staff is recommending replacement of existing vehicles used for performance of these services at a cost of $1,500,000 during the initial 5-year term. RECOMMENDATION: 1) Adopt Resolution No. __, "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, MAKING FINDINGS AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT NO.
