Nature inspires. Since time immemorial, nature has been a powerful source of inspiration to all human societies, irrespective of culture, religions, or civili- zation. Even the most mundane of us would be awestruck by the stunningly picturesque rocks of in our country, the grandeur of the Alps in Europe, and the mystic volcanoes of Gunung Sewu in Indonesia. Nature’s flora and fauna are fascinating and beautiful, but without the unique, primordial that host them, we self-absorbed sapiens would perhaps be less impressed and humbled. Perhaps this is why geoscience and geotourism matter to academia in both natural and social sciences as as they do to governments, businesses, and people who make a living in the fast-growing global tourism industry. I am highly impressed with the tireless dedication that Professor Anze Chen and his team have given to promoting geotourism through academic researches, teaching, as well as publishing. It is indeed an honor for me in presenting this new book Dictionary of Geotourism, which is an invaluable gift to students, followers, and simply all those interested to explore the wonders of nature and get to know what geotourism could bring to us and our community. I for one can say that I am among the advocates and practitioners of geotourism in my home city of Hong Kong in my previous and positions in Government. Blessed with a highly unique volcanic landscape of hexagonal columns lined up in tens of thousands along the walls of a stunning Pacific Ocean facing coasting line, Hong Kong has joined the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network since 2009 and is still holding this global status at the moment. Hong Kong is a strong testimony that our geopark, especially one that is situated within a stone’s throw from our bustling metropolitan city, has proven to be a rediscovered treasure that never fails to excite millions of visitors both local and abroad.

v vi Foreword 1

My appreciation and admiration go to Professor Chen’s decades of dedica- tion and efforts in promoting tourism and earth science in China. I see this publication not just a masterpiece of Professor Chen’s contribution to the professional field he proudly represents, but also a useful tool that helps to better equip practitioners of geotourism in their pursuit of interest and excel- lence. I congratulate his great work.

Secretary for Commerce and Edward Yau Tang-wah, GBS, JP Economic Development The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region 16 July, 2019 Foreword 2

How wonderful it is to have a book dedicated to explaining the many aspects of Geotourism. While the term is relatively young, the concept of travelling to see landscapes for recreation and enjoyment has been around for a long time. The Chinese have characterized this as “Tourism Earth-Science,” and the China Tourism Earth-Science Research Association, founded in 1987, published A Grand Tourism Earth Science Dictionary in Chinese. This is a legacy of the pioneering work of the preeminent Chinese geologist, researcher, and educator, Professor Anze Chen, who brought together the fields of geography and with a view to finding the intersection of the two with tourism research. Much later, those interested in tourism and geology in the West sought to define and characterize “-tourism.” In Europe, the first published definition of geotourism as geology-based tourism was made by Thomas Hose. He defined it as the provision of interpretive and service facilities to enable tourists to acquire knowledge and understanding of the geology and geomorphology of a site including its contribution to the development of the Earth sciences. Further refinements were made by Hose. Inherent in these definitions was that geotourism is a vehicle to foster geoconservation, understand geological heritage (geoheritage), and appreciate geological diversity (geodiversity). Taken together, the notion is that geotourism as a form of tourism is underpinned by the concept of sustainability. In the early 2000s, the geoparks movement adopted this approach and reflected geotourism as being essentially “Geological Tourism.” In the USA, the National Geographic characterized geotourism as “Geo- graphical Tourism.” The Australian pioneers Professors Ross Dowling and David Newsome initially defined geotourism as being “geological tourism” but in recent years they have widened their definition by adding some of the National Geographic’s “geographical” elements into their definition. Today geotourism is being universally accepted as a combination of all of the approaches above and is being viewed as both a form of tourism as well as an approach to it, but one that firmly ties itself first to the geologic nature of an area’s “sense of place.” Such tourism development generates benefits for conservation (especially geoconservation), appreciation (through geoheritage interpretation), and the economy. While the definition has been debated and refined, there has been no stopping the interest and growth in geotourism around the world. The rapid

vii viii Foreword 2 growth of the geoparks movement, and subsequent adoption of it by UNESCO, is reflected in the establishment of 147 UNESCO Global Geoparks in 41 countries in 2019. In addition, there are hundreds of more “national” level geoparks and as many “aspiring” geoparks in a movement which is taking the world by storm. Whereas geoparks are viewed as the “vehicle” for sustainable regional development, geotourism is the “engine” powering this phenomenal growth. Therefore, this book represents the engine “manual” with which to understand the subject. This dictionary is an essential repository of knowledge which defines and characterizes the many facets of geotourism. It will be a major source of knowledge for all those working in geology and tourism around the world. The dictionary defines and characterizes the large number of important terms which are used within geotourism. These include geodiversity, geoconservation, geotrails, geosites, geoparks, parks, world heritage, etc. The book is central to the understanding of the subject and will be sure to be used as a marquee reference by the growing number of geotourism aca- demics, researchers, practitioners, and professionals around the world. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Geotourism can be defined as tourism which focuses on an area’s geology and landscape as the basis for providing visitor engagement, learning, and enjoy- ment. This form of tourism has been addressed academically as “Tourism Earth Science” in China. In Chinese, Dixue (地学) is a combination of “land” or “Earth” (Di) and “study” (Xue), which refers to earth study or earth science study. It is one of the six major basic sciences including mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and astronomy. Tourism Earth Science has turned out to be a newly emerging branch of science, falling under the category of earth science. The new discipline was first established by the first author of this dictionary in the 1980s in China by applying the theories and methods of earth science to serve the tourism industry. Tourism Earth Science has contributed greatly to advance the development of China’s tourism industry in a healthy and sustainable way. It has given impetus to the establishment of national geoparks in China. It also acts as a theoretical basis and guidance for tourism and geopark development. Here is an introduction to the concept of Tourism Earth Science, its background, and the need for compiling this Dictionary of Geotourism.

Definition of Tourism Earth Science

In China, geotourism has been named by geoscientists as Tourism Earth Science. The Association for Tourism Earth Science was established in 1985 in China. It defined Tourism Earth Science in Article 2 of its constitution as “a newly emerging interdisciplinary science, aims at investigating, studying, planning, developing and protecting tourism resources by applying its theories and methodology.” In 1991, the definition was further refined in the book An Introduction to Tourism Earth Science (written by Anze Chen and Yunting Lu et al.) as “a newly emerging branch of earth science, a discipline that deals with relationships of travel and sightseeing, leisure therapy and therapeutic recre- ation to the composition and structure of the Earth’s surface materials and their energy migration and change, comprising both geological and geographical tourism environments.” Tourism Earth Science is actually a general term standing for two different disciplines namely geoscience and tourism. The Grand Tourism Earth Science Dictionary published in 2013 expanded this definition to “a newly emerging, interdisciplinary science created by integrat- ing earth science with the tourist industry, consisting two sub-disciplines

ix x Preface which are tourism geology and tourism geography.” Theories and methodol- ogy of earth science, together with other disciplines such as art, aesthetics, landscape, and environmental and tourism sciences, are adopted to address tourism issues associated with the Earth. These challenges derived mainly from tourism market, resources, planning, development, and management.

Research Areas

Tourism Market Knowledge of human geography, economic geography, and regional geogra- phy are used to identify regional distribution and influencing factors charac- terizing tourist behaviors and activities. These factors may include the current geographical environment, climate, traffic, population, and economy.

Tourism Resources Many tourism resources are studied by using the theories and methods of physical geography. Geology and geomorphology, in particular, applied together with aesthetics, landscape science, and town and rural planning in the preparation of tourism plans are extremely useful in identifying and proper utilization of natural tourism resources. With a better understanding of their distribution, values, and potentials, as well as their association with ecology, culture, and history, an inventory can be built up for more detailed and effective tourism planning and design.

Tourism Facilities Theories and methods of earth and environmental sciences can be applied in site selection of tourism facilities. They can also be used to determine the type and scale of the facilities as well as assessing the values of the sites. Such studies include ground and foundation stability; levels of radioactivity, mag- netism, trace elements, and negative ions; and water quality for spa and bath facilities in health resorts. Besides, geological hazards such as landslide, flooding, and earthquake need to be assessed to ensure safety of the tourism facilities. They also help to formulate environmental protection laws and regulations for the protection of valuable tourism resources.

Geopark Establishment and Management The concepts of geological heritage, geoconservation, and geotourism can be applied in the course of geopark development and establishment. They involve identifying geological heritage sites, preparing and planning of heritage and protection sites, designing tourism routes, and setting up indoor and outdoor interpretation system, including contents of museum, panels, books, pam- phlets, audio-video display, and other multimedia and social media channels. Tourism earth science also plays an important role in empowering geopark and national parks rangers and guides for telling geoscience, ecological, and cultural stories to tourists. It is very helpful in assisting the establishment of research and visitor centers, safety monitoring system, and building up data- base for tourism resources. Preface xi

Development Background

Due to the significant political and socioeconomic changes in China since 1978, tourism has flourished in line with the improvement of the livelihood of people. Tourism industry requires inputs from other disciplines to address its diversified problems. Geology and geography are able to help in exploring, preparing, planning, and managing such tourism development projects. Earth science is an old and mature branch of science. With the increasing social and economic demands, the discipline is fuelled by tourism with new momentum. Its theories and methodology provide a solid foundation to meet these needs and have far-reaching impacts on tourism worldwide.

History and Current Situation

The involvement of geoscience in tourism starts not earlier than 1930 when the IUGS included geotourism as one of the discussion themes in its meeting agenda. In 1965, Nice Brouno, an Italian geographer, published Research in Geographic Tourism. In 1974, Chigaku Zasshi, a Japanese geographer, published the Sight-seeing Geography, while, in 1976, H. Robinson published Tourism Geography. In the meantime, American and Russian geographers also published papers of Leisure Geography, Travel and Leisure System Geogra- phy. In 1981, during the 24th International Geographers Association Congress, tourism geography was declared a branch of geography. Geologists’ involve- ment in tourism began earlier than geographers’ but the reports appeared only sporadically in research papers. Formal publication of tourism geology started only after 1990. Chinese scholars had first integrated tourism geography and tourism geology to form the new discipline of Tourism Earth Science. This was initiated by Anze Chen and Yunting Lu in 1991 in their publication The Principles of Tourism Earth Science. Therefore, the development of Tourism Earth Science can be summarized in five different stages:

Early Stage (1978–1985) In 1978, China commenced its economic reform. The improved economic conditions led to rapid development and sudden growth of tourism industry. Tourist destinations with famous mountains and rivers attracted many thou- of tourists. At the same time, various academic societies in China also revived and the Commission on Geological Science Popularisation was set up by the Geological Society of China. The 1st National Symposium on Tourism Earth Science was organized in Beijing in 1985. Anze Chen, the chairman of the Commission, and Weixin Li, the Secretary-General, started using the name “Tourism Earth Science” to describe this new discipline. The name was extensively accepted by the symposium delegates with backgrounds in geol- ogy, geography, landscape gardening, architecture, environmental protection, tourism, cultural heritage management and protection, archaeology, and museums. In order to enhance the linkage of professionals from different areas, the Chinese Tourism Earth Science Research Association (Preparatory) was established. This preparatory association was affiliated to xii Preface the Geological Museum of China. This was an important milestone for the development of Tourism Earth Science.

Developing Stage (1986–1991) The most important task after the founding of the preparatory association was to set up the discipline of Tourism Earth Science. It is essential to establish a brand-new discipline with independent research objectives, a complete set of methodology, and theoretical basis. Contributions from its members during this period had enabled putting theories into practice and applying various methodologies in conducting research as well as in addressing the various issues faced by the tourism industry. Much data and information were col- lected to form a foundation for different research projects. Inspired by the works done during this developing period, Anze Chen started preparing the book An Introduction to Tourism Earth Science, and the book was published by the Beijing Press in 1991. Since then the book has been used as a textbook for many universities around the country.

Growing Stage (1992–2000) This was a growing period of Tourism Earth Science, which marked its entry in the international academic arena. In 1996, during the 30th International Geo- logical Congress held in Beijing, Anze Chen and Maoxun Chen presented a paper on “Tourism Earth Science—A New Frontier of Earth Science” to over 6,000 earth scientists from 120 countries. At the same time, the Association organized and held the Symposium on the Strategy of Development of Tourism Resources in the Western Region of China. The impacts were far-reaching in arousing interests and involvement of many young earth scientists in Tourism Earth Science. During this period, this new discipline had been taken seriously by local universities and the first batch of master’s and doctorate degrees in Tourism Earth were conferred by the College of Geology.

Recent Development (2001 to Date) With the development of national geoparks, new frontiers have opened to all geoscientists, which marks a new era for earth science. During this period, the concepts and methodology have been applied to assist the establishment of geoparks. In 2010, the Geological Society of China renamed China Tourism Earth Science Research Association to China Association of Tourism Earth Science and Geopark Research to highlight the important role of research in geoparks. The translation and publication of the Principles of Geotourism and Dictionary of Geotourism from the original Chinese versions of Principles of Tourism Earth Science and Grand Dictionary of Tourism Earth Science, will effectively help international promotion of the discipline. Tourism Earth Science is still a young discipline and requires more research on its theory, content, and methodology. The development of geoparks and geotourism in China comes at the right time for the discipline to grow stronger and be extensively accepted by the world. Preface xiii

Compilation of the Grand Dictionary of Tourism Earth Science

The initial idea of having a dictionary began in 1991 during the preparation of the Principles of Tourism Earth Science. Similar to other academic disciplines, there is always a need for reference and quick checking for information. A Terminology of Tourism Earth Science was proposed in 1994 and a prelim- inary manuscript was published in 1995. Fuelled by the rapid growth of geotourism and geoparks in China, the publication of a more formal dictionary of Tourism Earth Science became essential. This was made possible in 2013 with the help of many colleagues, particularly from the editors, Sanbao Wu and Haiyan Zhu of Science Publication, Beijing. To make the discipline readily available to overseas readers, an English version is also needed. The publica- tion of this English version is made possible with the support and help of Lisa Fan, Senior Editor, Earth Science and Geography, Springer Beijing, and her colleagues. We need to emphasize that this dictionary is based on the original Chinese version but is characterized by presenting the entries in a more attractive and easily understandable format for the usage of non-geoscientists. The inclusion of many pictures and diagrams makes the explanation and illustration of the concepts and knowledge of Tourism Earth Science more interesting. The dictionary is definitely a tool for colleagues in geological heritage survey, assessment, and research. It is also a useful reference for managers, planners, and operators of national parks, geoparks and world heritage sites, science interpretation, tourism planning, museum, and visitor center design. It is a tool for teachers and students of schools and institutes of geoscience and tourism as well as for tourist guides and interpreters. The dictionary can also be used by more demanding visitors in acquiring knowl- edge of the natural and cultural environment that they will visit. Due to time limitation in preparation and publication, the dictionary can certainly be improved in future editions with the comments and suggestions from readers. Last but not least, I would like to extend my gratitude to the tremendous efforts given by my colleagues Min Wang, Hongyan Sun, and other contrib- utors in the preparation of this dictionary. Special thanks have to be given to the Huangshi Municipal Government, Hubei Province, for its generosity in sponsoring this publication.
