If you have not yet returned yours, please copy the attached form and ensure that it is completed by the Parents/Guardians of all the children in your choir. Teachers should keep a copy of the consent forms in your school and post the originals to Peace Proms, CBOI, DkIT, , Co. Louth by 5th September 6. CONCERT 1 2pm – 4:20pm Saturday 26th October GREEN GROUP Letterkenny Institute of Technology  Choirs should arrive at venue at 12noon for a rehearsal with the orchestra  The rehearsal is 1 hour long  Choirs have a 40 break before the concert begins. They should bring a packed lunch.  Choirs should be in their performance places at 1:40pm

CONCERT 2 8pm – 10:20pm Saturday 26th October GOLD GROUP Letterkenny Institute of Technology  Choirs should arrive at venue at 6pm for a rehearsal with the orchestra  The rehearsal is 1 hour long  Choirs have a 40 break before the concert begins. IMPORTANT INFORMATION

COSTS and TICKETING  There is no charge for participating in the project. Donegal Peace Proms is sponsored by the -Scots Agency.  Schools are expected to cover the cost of buses to and from the workshop and concert  Parents, who wish to see the performance, can buy their tickets from An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny or on line from www.peaceproms.com  Tickets are priced €12.50 or £10 (commission applies in some venues) CHOIR UNIFORM  Choir members must wear a plain white t-shirt/shirt/blouse (no logos) and dark bottoms (uniform bottoms are fine – skirt and tights or trousers)  On the day of the concert, choirs should arrive dressed in this choir uniform. Coats and jackets should not be worn.  Choirs should wear their school uniform to the workshop. CONCERT DAY ( This is the usual schedule but it may change in which case you will be notified)  Choirs arrive at concert venue 2 hours before the performance begins for a rehearsal with the orchestra.  Choirs should arrive at concert hall dressed in their choir uniform as there are no changing facilities  Choirs have a 1hour rehearsal and 40 minute break before the concert begins  Choirs should be in their performance positions 20 minutes before the concert begins  Choirs should bring a snack to have at the break  Snack should be in a small plastic or paper bag  Do not bring Hold Alls/Hand Bags/Carrier Bags/Ruck Sacks etc  Do not bring jackets or coats if possible as they may get lost  Teachers who wish their group to bring coats/jackets should bring a large bin liner. Put all your groups coats/jackets in the bin liner and store in a safe place. THE CONCERT  Once the concert begins, the choir remains on stage at all times. Choirs may not leave the stage at the interval except where it is necessary.  Teachers sit with their group for workshops and concerts, and supervise them at all times  NO FOOD OR DRINK IS ALLOWED INTO THE AUDITORIUM  COATS , JACKETS AND BAGS SHOULD NOT BE BROUGHT INTO THE AUDITORIUM TEACHERS  There will be a presentation to the teachers of the choirs at the end of the concert. This will be rehearsed on the day of the concert.

DONEGAL PEACE PROMS BACKGROUND Dear Parent/Guardian,

Our school will be taking part in a musical education programme called “Peace Proms” in October. “Peace Proms” has been devised by the Cross Border Orchestra of (CBOI) over the past 18 years. Peace Proms aims to entertain, educate and engage children and young people in music and to enrich their lives through exceptional musical experiences and performances. The project objective is to help young people to develop qualities of self-reliance, personal integrity, responsibility, and confidence by giving them the opportunity to:

 Perform with a full symphony orchestra  Work with leading professional conductors and musicians  Perform in premier venues throughout Ireland  Develop vocal technique, presentation and performance  Experience a variety of musical styles and genres and develop an appreciation for these styles

Peace Proms is supported by the Department of Arts, Heritage and the , and the Department of Education and Skills and is recognised as one of Ireland’s most important Arts Education initiatives, providing outstanding cultural opportunities for young people while promoting peace, unity and tolerance through music. Donegal Peace Proms is exclusively sponsored by the Ulster-Scots Agency.

2. INFORMATION ABOUT PEACE PROMS Parents are informed about Peace Proms by email and text. Although only a small number are sent, this ensures that all parents are fully informed about the project, workshops and concerts. Parents can unsubscribe at any time.
