Pawns in the Game PAWNS IN THE GAME BY WILLIAM GUY CARR (1956) This book was written by a high ranking Canadian naval officer with connections in both military and intelligence agencies. He identifies a group of 'International Bankers' as the "secret power" behind world revolutions, and documents the history of their activities as they fund wars and upheavals from Cromwell to WWII. He covers wars and revolutions throughout Europe from 1640 to 1940, but of special interest are his insights into the Spanish Civil War (1936) and events leading to WWII, since these are not well covered in most other accounts. HE WAS 64. HIS SON PUBLISHED ONE OF HIS OTHER IMPORTANT BOOKS "SATAN, PRINCE OF THIS WORLD", AFTER HIS DEATH. At the early age of twelve the author was thoroughly indoctrinated into the Bolshevik ideology by two revolutionary missionaries who travelled on the same ship with him out to the Orient in 1907. Unlike many others he didn't swallow the bait they offered him 'Hook, Line, investigations and studies of all angles of the International Conspiracy have taken him to nearly every country in the world. Commander Carr has had a distinguished naval career. During World War One he served as Navigating Officer of H.M. and Sinker'. He decided to keep an open mind, and to investigate matters thoroughly, before reaching any conclusions. His Submarines. In World War Two he was Naval Control Officer for the St. Lawrence; then Staff Officer Operations at Shelbourne, N. S.; then Senior Naval Officer at Goose Bay, Labrador. As an Officer on the staff of Commodore Reginald Brock he organized the 7th Victory Loan for the twenty-two Royal Canadian Naval Training Divisions. As an author he has previously published the seven books listed above. Some were specially bound for inclusion in The Royal Library; The Library of The Imperial War Museum; and the Sir Millington Drake Library (which is bequeathed to Eton College), and the Braille Library for the Blind. Several of his books have been published in European languages. Books previously published by same author. By Guess and by God. Hell's Angels of the Deep. High and Dry. Good Hunting. Out of the Mists. Checkmate in the North. Brass Hats and Bell-Bottomed Trousers. Commander Carr is known to many Canadians who have attended his public lectures. He toured Canada for the Canadian Clubs in 1930-31. He warned people of the existence of an International Conspiracy. He foretold that the conspirators would, unless checked, drag the World into another Global War. In the years between 1931 and 1939 he addressed Social and Service Clubs all over Ontario. In 1944 and 1945 he was sent on another lecture tour of Canada by The Naval authorities. He explained why it would be necessary to win the Peace, if the fruits of 2 military victory were not to be thrown away again. ge Pa Commander Carr is determined to inform as many people as possible regarding the Evil Forces which adversely affect all our lives, and the lives of our children. His book will be an eye-opener to parents, clergymen, teachers, students, statesmen, politicians, and labour leaders. PREFACE Here is a true story of international intrigue, romances, corruption, graft, and political assassinations, the like of which has never been written before. It is the story of how different groups or atheistic-materialistic men have played in an international chess tournament to decide which group would win ultimate control of the wealth, natural resources, and manpower of the entire world. It is explained how the game has reached the final stage. The International Communists, and the International Capitalists, (both of whom have totalitarian ambitions) have temporarily joined hands to defeat Christian-democracy. The cover design shows that all moves made by the International Conspirators are directed by Satan and while the situation is decidedly serious it is definitely not hopeless. The solution is to end the game the International Conspirators have been playing right now before one or another totalitarian-minded group impose their ideas on the rest of mankind. The story is sensational and shocking, but it is educational because it, is the truth. The author offers practical solutions to problems so many people consider insoluble. AUTHOR’S INTRODUCTION Note: This Author's Introduction was written in 1958 and makes reference to 'current events'. It makes many other historical and biblical references that may be unfamiliar to the uninitiated. The work itself provides well documented insights into many world events from 1770-1950. Re-reading the introduction after completing the book may provide even more insights. A Luciferian Conspiracy If what I reveal surprises and shocks the reader, please don't develop an inferiority complex because I am frank to admit that although I have worked since 1911, trying to find out why the Human Race can't live in peace and enjoy the bounties and blessing God provides for our use and benefit in such abundance? It was 1950 before I penetrated the secret that the wars and revolutions which scourge our lives, and the chaotic conditions that prevail, are nothing more or less than the effects of the continuing Luciferian conspiracy. It started in that part of the universe we call heaven when Lucifer challenged The Right of God to exercise supreme authority. The Holy Scriptures tell us how the Luciferian conspiracy was transferred to this world in the Garden of Eden. Until I realized that our struggle is not with flesh and blood, but with the spiritual forces of darkness who control all those in high places on this earth (Eph. 6:12) the pieces of evidence gathered all over this world just didn't fit together and make sense. (I am not ashamed to admit 3 ge Pa that the "Bible" provided the "Key" which enabled me to obtain an answer to the question quoted above.) Very few people seem able to appreciate that Lucifer is the brightest and most intelligent of the heavenly host and, because he is a pure spirit, he is indestructible. The scriptures tell us his power is such that he caused one-third of the most intelligent of the heavenly host to defect from God, and join him, because he claimed God's Plan for the rule of the universe is weak and impractical because it is based on the premise that lesser beings can be taught to know, love, and wish to serve him voluntarily out of respect for his own infinite perfections. The Luciferian ideology states might is right. It claims beings of proven superior intelligence have the right to rule those less gifted because the masses don't know what is best for them. The Luciferian ideology is what we call totalitarianism to-day. The Old Testament is simply the history of how Satan became prince of the world, and caused our first parents to defect from God. • A Post-Structuralist Viewpoint on Evidence-Based Medicine
A post-structuralist viewpoint on evidence-based medicine by Brian Walsh Submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy University of Otago 2012 ii Abstract BACKGROUND: Evidence-based medicine has made a remarkable contribution by organizing and processing overwhelming amounts of information. Furthermore, some tests and treatments have been shown by EBM to be inappropriate. However, evidence-based medicine (EBM) has been criticised on four fronts. 1. It is reductive. 2. It is undertheorised. 3. It lacks RCT evidence for the method as a whole. 4. It was, at first, totalising. AIM: This work aims to provide a viewpoint on EBM from the writings of three twentieth century French philosophers, often described as “post-structuralist”. METHOD: Employing discourse analysis, I use A Thousand Plateaus and Anti- Oedipus, written by Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, to develop a post-structuralist viewpoint on EBM. In Part Two I use The Birth of the Clinic and Power/Knowledge by Michel Foucault to provide a slightly different post-structuralist viewpoint on EBM. RESULTS: The Deleuzian teaching on smooth space (versus striated space) and nomadic science (versus State science) celebrates a less structured approach to medicine than that provided by EBM. This latter is viewed as part of a State science discourse in which knowledge and power are combined in a regime of truth. According to EBM, although medicine has a number of disciplines contributing to it, epidemiology provides the best evidence. But this work draws on the distinction between State science and nomadic science to feature the struggle in which the voices of disciplines other than epidemiology are quietened with regard to what constitutes “evidence”.

The book reveals details never previously documented and provides a valuable new perspective on Israel’s birth and struggle for survival. It includes eye witness reports by active participants in the events. While written mainly through South African eyes, the book also contains gripping anecdotes about volunteers from the USA, Britain and other countries. It throws new light on important events and personalities of the time. In his engaging eloquent style, Henry Katzew takes the reader on a fascinating expedition through recent historical events including: • Adventures of 8 young South Africans in their ill-fated attempt to bypass British restrictions on immigration to Palestine, by travelling overland from Pretoria.

  • Picturesque England.Pdf
1 2 3 t would require much more than a single volume to describe all the picturesque spots in our native land. But as far as space permitted, we believe we have given descrip- tions of all those places in England - whether towns, castles, manors, forests, lakes, or mountains - that are especially remarkable or that have either historical memories or poetic and romantic legend and lay associated with them. Nearly every rood of ground in our country has some glorious or pathetic mem- ory attached to it; its battlefields, its scenes of tragic events, or of happier associations, unite in giving a subtile charm to the land ”set in the silver sea.” In order to give a fair picture of our country, we have sought for the picturesque in each of its forty counties; devoting generally three articles to each; but of course increasing the number of descriptions in those counties that have the greatest claim on our attention from their scenery or associations. The southern counties possess many beauties: a charming coastline, and fertile and lovely pastures. In Wiltshire are those unique and ancient memorials of the past - Stonehenge and Abury; Hampshire has its old forest famed in history, and its adjoin- ing ”isle of beauty,” the Wight; and all possess ruins of fine old castles and abbeys, and two of our finest cathedrals - Canterbury and Winchester. The shires round London are well called the Home Counties, for there is a great home charm in their quiet pastures and well-wooded lands; while in the very centre of our country our greatest poet was born, in lovely Warwickshire.

  • World War III – the Military Defeat of America
mark h lane www.biblenumbersforlife.com World War III – The Military Defeat of America INTRODUCTION The purpose of this document is to show there is a reasonable basis using strategic studies (the science of warfare) to believe that America will suffer defeat at the hands of any one of the three totalitarian power blocs on the earth: Russia, China, or Islam. Most will scoff at the possibility America could be defeated in battle. The purpose of this paper is to show the defeat of America is not only possible it is likely. The only question is when it will occur. In fact, world events leading to this defeat are now in motion. KEY INSIGHT In nature the big fish eat the little fish. The greater the size difference between the creatures the more likely it is the smaller creature will chose to run away from the larger creature. This is the law of the ocean and the law of the jungle. The little fish knows it cannot fight the big fish. The little fish flees at the sight of the big fish and seeks the comfort of other small fish to provide a sense of security. The big fish manoeuvre the little fish into a tight circle by swimming threateningly around them. When the little fish are trapped, the big fish swim directly into the dense mass of small fish and fill their hungry bellies. America knows it needs a coalition, a company of smaller nations, to fight the big totalitarian powers. This is not a winning strategy. 1 | P a g e mark h lane www.biblenumbersforlife.com WORLD MILITARY BALANCE OF POWER To simplify the scale and sophistication of world military forces we will reduce global armies to the iconic pieces on a chess board.

Oral History of Ken Thompson Interviewed by: John Mashey Recorded: February 8, 2005 Mountain View, California CHM Reference number: X3091.2005 © 2006 Computer History Museum Oral History of Ken Thompson Q: I am John Mashey; I'm a trustee at the Computer History Museum. It's my pleasure to interview Ken Thompson about his involvement with computer chess over the years. So Ken, welcome to the Museum. Ken Thompson: Oh thank you very much, thanks for inviting me. Q: Oh sure. So let's start at the beginning. Where are you from, where did you go to school, and how much game playing did you do before you got to college? Ken Thompson: Oh, going way back. Q: Yes, all the way. Ken Thompson: My father was military and the technical term for that is Navy brat, so I was a Navy brat for the first 20 years of my life. And we moved all over, I never spent more than a year or two any one place. So that was high school and then I graduated high school in Chula Vista, California and went to school in Berkley and that's essentially my educational career Q: Okay. So in high school or before, or in college, what sort of involvement with games did you have, whether chess or other games? Ken Thompson: I was always interested in games. I read game books and crosswords, things like that. Chess in particular, I took up kind of the year that Bobby Fisher was mopping up in the U.S. when he was – he's about one month different age than I.
