Albany, New York; Houston, Texas; and Boulder, Colorado. The 1991 National will be held in the Miami Valley Area in Ohio, just North of the Kentucky Stale Line. I thought it would be nice to see if it would be feasible to have the national convention return to the South.

- Over the past few months, I have been working on a perspectus for an event based in 6TH ANNUAL SOUTHEAST Savannah, Georgia. I felt that since the 1987 National was held in the Gainesville / REGIONAL TRIUMPH Atlanta area, it would be appropriate to change the venue to a new location. • With the help of feUow GTA members, we made a presentation booklet for the Board of GATHERING the GTA. The Board authorized us to petition the VTR for the event during the 1990 convention. Dennis Riley was our ambassador to the VTR, and after discussions with Bill OCT 25-28, 1990 Sohl, the President of the VTR, we were selected to be the hosts for the 1992 convention. HOSTED BY In planning the 1989 Regional in Savannah, we learned many things about this historic town that to me, made this location my logical choice for hosting this proposed event. CENTRAL FLORIDA While investigating Savannah, I found the city to be very eager to have us host a conven TRIUMPH REGISTER tion there. I felt that even though Savannah is about 250 miles from Atlanta, the advan tages outweighed the disadvantages in hosting an event so far from Atlanta. Savannah has many facilities to host a large convention, it is a favorite location for visitors, and it also has the nearby Roebling Road Race course.

I firmly believe that good preparation for this event will surely ease the duties of volun teers both before and during the event. We are in a truly unique position of having the organizers of the 1987 VTR National on our committee to point out prior problems so we can plan for them before they ever occur. I have really relied on advise from Dennis, Mike Elder, and Gordon Washburn extensively in the preparation of this event.

Now that the event has taken a tangible form and most of the planning nightmares have been addressed, the event is now ready to be turned over to several small committees to carry this event through. I think that by dividing the tasks at hand to small specialized groups, this will aUow for better organization as a whole, and it will not leave a small group of people trying to carry the whole show on their shoulders.

As of this time, I have a small group of people committed to help with the convention. Considering we only had about 9 people working the 1989 Regional, I would hope to have considerably more people assisting in this event. I realize that a lot of us do not know what we will be doing in two years.
