THE WHISKEY DAREDEVILS …Ganz Offensichtlich Eine Der Letzten, Ernstzunehmenden Cowpunk Bands in Der Amerikanischen Rock’N’Roll Landschaft File under: Cow-Punk-Rock'n'Roll-Rodeo! The History of the Whiskey Daredevils Volume III”. “They do what they do best: they take the best of American roots music and create their very own sound”- Trashrock Mag “Drunken country musicians make punk. Or the other way around. That's how it should be and that's how this record works.”- Handwritten Magazine In den vergangenen Jahren teilte man gerne die Bühne mit solchen Bands wie Culture on the Skids, Dale Watson. Supersuckers, the Sadies, Blackberry Smoke, Legendary Shackshakers, the Trashmen, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Whitey Morgan, Hillbilly Casino, Left Lane Cruiser, Dick Dale, Brian Setzer, John Doe, Jason and the Scorchers, Nine Pound Hammer, und vermutlich so ziemlich jede Band die auch nur halbwegs zum Sound der Whiskey Daredevils passt. “The Whiskey Daredevils are a real American Rock and Roll band” sprach einst ein Radio DJ. The Whiskey Daredevils…from Ohio. America’s finest country punk band, will return to European shores September/ October 2018 for a series of live dates. This will be the band’s first shows on the continent since their “Whiskey Daredevils III” tour in 2015. The band has eleven full length releases, but has perhaps gained their greatest popularity from their high energy live performances and constant touring ethic. Formed in 2004 after vocalist Greg Miller and drummer Leo P. Love ended The Cowslingers, the band has consistently pushed their idea of what American roots music is for modern times. A unholy stew of rockabilly, country, garage rock, punk rock and surf instrumentals somehow combine to form the band’s singular sound. “They do what they do best: they take the best of American roots music and create their very own sound”- Trashrock Mag “Drunken country musicians make punk. Or the other way around. That's how it should be and that's how this record works.”- Handwritten Magazine The band has created a Euro Tour only LP of 12 tracks, two of which are previously unreleased, taken from their last six full length records. “The History of the Whiskey Daredevils Volume III” is a limited run of 200 of their very best, which is sure to make the greasiest greaser and the punkiest punk happy. The Whiskey Daredevils are well known on the indie rock circuit, constantly out on the road. The band has showcased at SXSW, played every noteworthy indie rock club you can think of in America and Europe, and has played with a who’s who of genre friendly acts like Southern Culture on the Skids, Dale Watson. Supersuckers, the Sadies, Blackberry Smoke, Legendary Shackshakers, the Trashmen, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Whitey Morgan, Hillbilly Casino, Left Lane Cruiser, Dick Dale, Brian Setzer, John Doe, Jason and the Scorchers, Nine Pound Hammer, and almost anyone else that you can think of that sounds anything close to them. • IN the COURT of APPEAL of the STATE of CALIFORNIA SECOND APPELLATE DISTRICT DIVISION SIX JOHN DOE, Plaintiff and Appellant, V. T
Filed 6/5/20; Certified for Publication 6/29/20 IN THE COURT OF APPEAL OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA SECOND APPELLATE DISTRICT DIVISION SIX JOHN DOE, 2d Civil No. B293153 (Super. Ct. No. 16CV04758) Plaintiff and Appellant, (Santa Barbara County) v. THE REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, Defendant and Respondent. John Doe (Doe) was admitted as a freshman student to the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB). Before he even arrived in Santa Barbara, UCSB placed him on interim suspension pending its investigation into an allegation of dating- relationship violence. UCSB then delayed completion of the investigation, in violation of its own written policies. Doe brought this action against the Regents of the University of California (Regents). The superior court preliminarily enjoined the interim suspension pending completion of the administrative proceedings. Ultimately, Doe was exonerated in the administrative proceedings. Over his objection, the superior court then dismissed his action as moot. The court denied Doe’s motion for attorney’s fees under Code of Civil Procedure section 1021.5, reasoning that he had failed to show the litigation conferred “a significant benefit . on the general public or a large class of persons.” (Code Civ. Proc., § 1021.5.)1 Doe appeals from the judgment of dismissal and the postjudgment order denying his motion for attorney’s fees. We affirm the order of dismissal. We conclude Doe satisfied the criteria for an award of fees under section 1021.5. We reverse the denial of the fee motion and remand for a determination of the amount to be awarded. Factual and Procedural Background At the age of 17, Doe was admitted to UCSB.

Dead Rock West ‘More Love’ (Bio) “These are difficult days and we need more and more love,” says Frank Lee Drennen, songwriter, guitarist, and singer with Cindy Wasserman in the band Dead Rock West. More Love, the pair's fourth album and first for Omnivore Recordings, was made under the California sun with producer John Doe and a studio full of special guests, yet Frank and Cindy's wraparound vocals remain the focal point over the course of its12 heartstrong songs. “Frank played me the song 'More Love,' and I was so blown away, I thought, that's it!” says Cindy. “It became the inspiration for the harmonies and the song ideas for the entire record.” The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered in LA by Grammy-winner Dave Way, with David J. Carpenter on bass, D.J. Bonebrake on drums, multi- instrumentalist Geoff Pearlman, keyboardist Phil Parlapiano, special guests Elliot Easton and Greg Leisz on guitars, and Mike Bolger on horns. “This was a group effort; band, singers, engineer, producer all equal, all working toward a common, honest goal,” says Doe. “All of us in a room making real music, from the heart, from intuition, from aching and wanting, from beauty and the desert.” From the opening love-affirming title song and throughout its passionate performances (including a surprising country-soul finale, Sam Cooke's “Bring It On Home To Me”), love is the tie that binds, though Frank counters, “For me, it's totally a non-concept album.” But whether it's their honeyed voices rubbing against the hard won guitar strums as on “Boundless Fearless Love,” or the whispers between lines of “Radio Silence,” the duo have an undeniably entwined singing style.

Atom and His Package Possibly the smallest band on the list, Atom & his Package consists of Adam Goren (Atom) and his package (a Yamaha music sequencer) make funny punk songs utilising many of of the package's hundreds of instruments about the metric system, the lead singer of Judas Priest and what Jewish people do on Christmas. Now moved on to other projects, Atom will remain the person who told the world Anarchy Means That I Litter, The Palestinians Are Not the Same Thing as the Rebel Alliance Jackass, and If You Own The Washington Redskins, You're a ****. Ghost Mice With only two members in this folk/punk band their voices and their music can be heard along with such pride. This band is one of the greatest to come out of the scene because of their abrasive acoustic style. The band consists of a male guitarist (I don't know his name) and Hannah who plays the violin. They are successful and very well should be because it's hard to 99 when you have such little to work with. This band is off Plan It X records and they put on a fantastic show. Not only is the band one of the leaders of the new genre called folk/punk but I'm sure there is going to be very big things to come from them and it will always be from the heart. Defiance, Ohio Defiance, Ohio are perhaps one of the most compassionate and energetic leaders of the "folk/punk" movement. Their clever lyrics accompanied by fast, melodic, acoustic guitars make them very enjoyable to listen to.

It's like the desert or the plains, there's miles & miles of space w/ beauty and harshness. Come & hear for yourself. John Doe was born in 1977 when he arrived in Los Angeles. His previous life in Tennessee, Wisconsin & Baltimore was a great & fertile time but new music and social changes led him to events that created a life in art. He graduated from Antioch College in Baltimore in 1975, worked as a roofer, aluminum siding mechanic, and ran a poetry reading series. Ms. Meyers was his landlord in the rural black community of Simpsonville , MD. John met Exene Cervenka at the Venice poetry workshop Nov 1976 and he started working with Billy Zoom around the same time. When DJ Bonebrake joined X in mid-1977 the line up was complete. They released six studio records, five or six singles and one live record from 1978-1993. Five of X’s records have been re-issued along with two compilations. The Unheard Music documents their lives and progress as a band from 1980-83. In 2009 the film was included in the Sundance UCLA Archive of greatest films of all time. They appeared several times on American Bandstand, Solid Gold and David Letterman.
