He kept a blog for icenetwork from the event, his first international competition since the Sochi Winter Olympics. Saturday, Sept. 27 Today was officially the conclusion of the Nebelhorn Trophy. The ladies free skate kicked off the day, and both Mariah Bell and Gracie Gold skated beautiful programs. Mariah finished her first senior event in fifth, and Gracie brought home the bronze for Team USA! The dance event began shortly after the ladies finished. I can't even put into words how breathtaking both Kaitlin Hawayek and JeanLuc Baker, and Madison Chock and Evan Bates' programs were. I felt so bad that I toned it down a bit. It was incredible to see Kaitlin and JeanLuc in their senior debut, and watch Madison and Evan break 100 points in their free dance for the first time.

  • Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Skaters, Dear Friends
NEBELHORN-TROPHY 2020 FRITZ-GEIGER-MEMORIAL TROPHY 2020 Part of the ISU Challenger events 2020/2021 INFORMATION GUIDE Nebelhorn Trophy 2020 Information Guide Ladies and Gentlemen, dear Skaters, dear Friends, Slowly the Covid-19 restrictions will be lowered and most of the Government decisions are a borderline between keeping the number of infections as low as possible and giving back the population a kind of “normal” life, of which sport is an essential part. So also, in Germany. As of today, we do hope that at least a limited number of spectators are allowed to attend an indoor sport-event and that the travel restrictions for more countries will be lowered. The Organizing Committee of the 52nd “Nebelhorn-Trophy in Oberstdorf” continues its preparation work and will start the event as scheduled with the necessary permission of our Government. We have worked out a guide for movements within the arena, a hygienic concept and most important a guide to keep the distance between each individuals, the teams, the viewers, and guests. We, however, must ask for your understanding that once the situation will change and does not allow us to conduct our event, we need to cancel the competition on a very short notice. As in the previous years, the 2020 “Nebelhorn-Trophy” is part of the ISU Challenger events and to make your points for the ISU World Standing and the required Technical Minimum Scores (see also ISU Communication2335). We will offer our deepest thanks to the International Skating Union for their confidence and trust, our sincere welcome to all guests and to the participants from all around the World and the best of luck and success.

  • Welcome to Oberstdorf
Welcome to Oberstdorf Dear Participants, dear Team Members, Officials and Guests, It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the 50th anniversary of our traditional “Nebelhorn-Trophy” in Oberstdorf. We are celebrating 50 years of uninterrupted high level skating performances with an unchanged format of the competition. The support of our friends worldwide, the trust of all international federations and the confidence of the ISU in our organization are what have made this anniversary possible in the first place. The event has been selected to host the “Official Olympic Qualification Event” for 3 times. In addition, for more than 20 years, it has been the place for the official ISU Judges’ Examination where judges from around the world can become ISU qualified judges in Figure Skating and Ice Dance. Oberstdorf has also been the event in which many important decisions were tested or created: new “Compulsory Dances”; the first official international event without Compulsory Figures; the try-out and implementation of the “New Judging System”; as well as many other tests with various ideas to compose the Panel of Judges. To honour this remarkable anniversary, we have organized a nice exhibition in the “Oberstdorf House”, showing the history of our event. We would like to encourage you to visit this display and see the pictures and exhibits of your great compatriots, who were the winners of our event. There are so many famous skaters and it would go beyond any available space, but just to mention some is the goal to go, e.g. Angelika and Erich Buck, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, Marina Klimova and Sergei Ponomarenko, Elena Valova and Oleg Vasiliev, Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov, Carolina Kostner, Debi Thomas, Dorothy Hamill, Todd Eldredge, Stephane Lambiel and Yuzury Hanyu and with the record of all, Aljona Savchenko, who has won the event 6 times with three different partners.
