Elfenbenskusten Favoriter I Afrikanska Mästerskapet 2017 Elfenbenskusten favoriter i Afrikanska Mästerskapet 2017 På lördag inleds den 31:a upplagan av Afrikanska Mästerskapet i fotboll i Gabon. Hemmanationen ställer sitt hopp till Dortmundstjärnan Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang för att rubba favoriterna och regerande mästarna Elfenbenskusten. – Det blir ett otroligt spännande mästerskap att följa, inte minst då ett par allsvenska bekantingar är med. Exempelvis ska AIK:s Ebenezer Ofori tillsammans med förre Djurgårdaren Daniel Amartey försöka spela hem ett sjätte guld till Ghana. Det ska också bli kul att få se hemmanationen Gabons talangfulle Serge-Junior Martinsson Ngouali, till vardags i Brommapojkarna, på den här nivån, säger Henrik Holm på Unibet De främsta utmanarna till Elfenbenskusten är enligt oddsen Senegal, Algeriet och Egypten. Senegal kommer till Gabon för att ta hem sitt första mästerskapsguld och en av nycklarna är att Liverpoolstjärnan Sadio Mané kan behålla sin fina form från höstens Premier League-spel. – Elfenbenskusten ser väldigt starka ut, det såg man inte minst i träningsmatchen mot Sverige nyligen. Det finns dock flera nationer som ställer upp med starka lag och historiskt sett har turneringen visat på många favoritfall och skrällvinster, inte minst 2012 när Zambia gick hela vägen, säger Henrik Holm på Unibet.     Guy Wilkinson PhD Thesis (2017) CHAPTER IV INDIVIDUAL PLAYER CONTRIBUTIONS IN EUROPEAN SOCCER ABSTRACT This paper looks at applying new techniques to predict match outcomes in professional soccer. To achieve this models are used which measure the individual contributions of soccer players within their team. Using data from the top 25 European soccer leagues, the individual contribution of players is measured using high dimensional fixed effects models. Nine years of results are used to produce player, team and manager estimates. A further year of results is used to check for predictive accuracy. Since this has useful applications in player scouting the paper will also look at how well the models rank players. The findings show an average prediction rate of 45% with all methods showing similar rankings for player productivity. While the model highlights the most productive players there is a bias towards players who produce and prevent goals directly. This results in more attackers and defenders ranking highly than midfield players. There is potential for these techniques to be used against the betting market as most models produce better performance than many betting firms. Guy Wilkinson PhD Thesis (2017) 1. The World Health Organization in Cote d’Ivoire estimated as many as 9.6 million cases in 2010 and as many as 28,400 deaths.3 Since 2008, when the organization began counting confirmed malaria cases, admissions and deaths4, the number rose dramatically until 2010 and then fell, possibly be- cause civil war disrupted health systems, preventing families from accessing treatment and health workers from collecting reliable data. During this crisis, media reports showed that many malaria commodities were scarce or unavailable in the most affected regions. Today, malaria control is again a national priority under the leadership of Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara, who came to power in April 2011. Three Global Fund grants worth more than $150 million are aiding recon- struction efforts, benefitting pregnant women and children under 5 years of age.5 Without such aid, children in Cote d’Ivoire may suffer 1 to 6 malaria episodes per year.6 Ivorians are currently undertaking a major challenge to reduce the impact of malaria following the distribution of over 7 million long lasting nets.
