  • Growth and Opportunity 2013 Report to Shareholders a MESSAGE from the CHAIRMAN
Growth and Opportunity 2013 Report to Shareholders A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN “Pennsylvania is very much a Red State.” - PA GOP Chairman Rob Gleason Pennsylvania elections are always exciting. Despite an unfavorable national outcome of the 2012 election, one thing remains absolutely clear: Pennsylvania is very much a Red State. Whether it’s measuring critical wins at the Con- gressional or State Legislative level, or the fact that we made more voter contacts than the 2004 and 2008 elections combined, it’s clear that our record-breaking grassroots campaign made the difference in very close races. Our work is far from over. As we prepare for the 2013 and 2014 elections, we must continue grow- ing our Party to remain on the cutting edge of political, communication and finance strategy. We will continue to identify and recruit qualified candidates and run aggressive campaigns to help them achieve victory. We must continue to work with our elected officials to ensure that the people of Pennsylvania know that Republicans are making our Commonwealth the best possible place to live, work and raise a family. We must continue to hold President Barack Obama and the Democratic Party accountable for their failed policies, and ensure that no Democratic elected official or candidate gets a free pass on their agenda to raise taxes and increase the size of government. Finally, we must make sure we raise the necessary funds to power our successful programs. We will ensure our Party has the necessary resources to elect a new Superior Court judge in 2013, as well as lay a strong foundation to re-elect Governor Corbett and Lieutenant Governor Cawley in 2014.

  • GOP Endorses Cawley for Lieutenant Governor Page 1 of 1 2/15/2010 Http
Page 1 of 1 GOP endorses Cawley for lieutenant governor 14 Feb 2010 — Bucks County Courier Times Seven candidates sought the GOP endorsement. Bucks County Commissioner Jim Cawley has received the endorsement of the state Republican Party in his bid for lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania. Cawley, 40, a county commissioner since 2005, was one of seven candidates seeking the GOP endorsement for president of the state Senate. Many see the post as largely ceremonial. But Cawley said he would use the position to reduce waste in Harrisburg and, if elected, would also head the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Council. "One of the things I would like to do is institute a committee focused on ways to improve services and cut costs," Cawley said. "We'd go department by department and make them accountable for every dollar they are appropriated to receive in the state budget." "I think we'd find a lot of waste, fraud and abuse," Cawley added. At Saturday's GOP meeting, the committee also endorsed Tom Corbett for governor and Pat Toomey for U.S. Senate. Former Gov. Mark Schweiker - a fellow Bucks County native who was once lieutenant governor - has campaigned in support of Cawley since January. Cawley said he would resign from his county position if elected to the state government. The other six candidates seeking the endorsement were: Chet Beiler of Lancaster County, Jean Craige Pepper of Erie County, Joe Watkins of Philadelphia, Nick DiFrancesco, a Dauphin County commissioner, Steve Johnson of York County and Russ Diamond of Lebanon County, who founded of PA Clean Sweep.

I call these faculties mythos and logos after the philosophical and anthropological names given to the competing methods of answering universal questions which have prevailed since very ancient times. The use of these ancient philosophical terms is intentional and reflects the crux of my theoretical orientation, which is unabashedly classicist, although thoroughly up-to-date. I

January 6, 2011 New Session Commences as Members Elect Top Leadership Posts Volume 5, Issue 1 The 2011-12 legislative session officially kicked off on Tuesday, as members of the state House and Senate were sworn into office. Significantly, 29 new members – a full 14% of the House - took the oath as freshman members. The day also included a changing of the guard in the House of Representatives from last session’s Democratic majority. Rep. Sam Smith (R-Punxsutawney) was unanimously elected as Speaker of the House. Smith previously served as House Leader for the Republicans. Both Smith and House Majority Leader Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) started the session with messages of working together to shrink state government. In the Senate, Joseph Scarnati (R-Jefferson) was re-elected to his post as President Pro Tempore. The House swore in 21 new Republicans and eight new Democrats. In the Senate, three new Democratic members were officially added to the chamber. Both chambers are one member short due to the recent passing of Senate Minority Whip Mike O’Pake (D-Berks) and Rep. Robert Donatucci (D- Philadelphia). A special election will be held for the Philadelphia House seat on Feb. 1, and for the Senate seat on March 15. Both chambers have recessed for two weeks, and return Jan. 18 for the inauguration of Gov.-elect Tom Corbett and Lt. Gov.-elect Jim Cawley. Corbett Names Ward as Chief of Staff; Zogby as Budget Secretary Governor-elect Tom Corbett has announced that Bill Ward will become his Chief of Staff. Ward, 59, served as Corbett’s top deputy during his first stint in the Attorney General’s Office, under Gov.
