To do so, I provide both a neo-Aristotelian and biographical criticism of three songs from ye (2018) by Kanye West. Chapters 1 & 2 consider Roland Barthes’ The Death of the Author and other landmark papers in rhetorical and literary theory to develop an intrinsic and extrinsic approach to criticizing ye (2018), evident in Tables 1 & 2. Chapter 3 provides the biographical antecedents of West’s life prior to the release of ye (2018). Chapters 4, 5, & 6 supply intrinsic (neo-Aristotelian) and extrinsic (biographical) critiques of the selected artifacts. Each of these chapters aims to address the concerns of one of three guiding questions: which critical approaches prove most useful to the hip-hop consumer listening to this song? How can and should the listener construct meaning? Are there any improper ways to critique and interpret this song? Drake, Certified Lover Boy Durante un recente live di Instagram con suo padre Dennis Graham, Aubrey ‘Drake’ Graham ha affermato che alcuni fan potrebbero detestare il suo prossimo album – proprio come “hanno odiato Views” — ma ha insistito sul fatto che “è il tipo di musica verso cui evolversi”. Presumiamo che CLB, in uscita a gennaio 2021, mostrerà il lato tenero di Drake – già visto in Hotline Bling e One Dance – che alle persone piace odiare. Infatti, per il video del primo singolo dell’album, Laugh Now, Cry Later, con la partecipazione di Lil Durk da Chicago e prodotto Da Cardo, Drizzy fa una pausa dal basket e in generale dal divertimento, per farsi un bel pianto. Che tenero! Questo sarà il sesto album di Drake dal suo debutto nel 2010, Thank Me Later. Da allora è diventato uno dei – se non proprio il – rapper di maggior successo di tutti i tempi.

Gianna DiPaolo BY GIANNA DIPAOLO It’s finally the time where we can walk with our heads held high because we’re the COPY EDITOR oldest in the school. Although we’re about two months into school, the senior year hype Jess Kappeler is still alive. The student section couldn’t be more fun, we just finished our last home- coming, and early action for college is about to expire. We have a lot to figure out this PHOTO EDITOR year, but we should probably make this the best year to remember. (Que “We’re All in Bri Mikeska This Together”). Being as this is our last ever year of high school, I think that we should go out with a SPORTS EDITORS bang. No more petty drama or looking back wishing we did things differently- this is the Justin Hawkins year that we put that all to the side and come together. We have one year before we part Sean Nolan our ways and start our lives, so I think we should give North Hills something to reminisce on. WEBSITE EDITOR It is our responsibility now to leave this school in better shape than we found it. Rebekah Froelich Alumni are coming back saying, “this school is going downhill,” but we are going to be the class that saves it.
