ITINERARY - Cairns to Darwin

Day 1 - The tour will pick you up from your accommodation in Cairns at 6am. We'll head straight up to the mountains and into the tropical rainforest to visit for a refreshing swim. We’ll then make our way west to Kalkani Crater, where you’ll have great views of the surrounding volcanic regions. Tonight we’ll Camp at Undara. Meals: L,D Drive time: 5h Walking: 3-4k

Day 2 - This morning we’ll explore the Undara Lava tubes on a 2-hour tour with a local guide. We’ll then make our way to Georgetown and visit one of ’s best mineral collections, the Ted Elliott Collection. Our next stop is the Cumberland chimney, a remanent from the gold rush days, where there’s a large waterhole with plenty of birdlife. Our last stop for the day will be at Lake Belmore for a swim and we’ll camp at Croydon. Meals: B, L, D Drive time: 3h Walking: 2-4k

Day 3 - Today we continue west and make a stop in Normanton to visit Krys Crocodile, a replica of the largest (8.63 metres) crocodile ever shot. Afterwards, we’ll stop in at Camp 119, the last camp on the ill- fated Burke and Wills expedition. We’ll continue our journey on to , a wide-open set of falls on the , before arriving at our campsite at Adels Grove. You’ll enjoy peaceful clear swimming holes next to our camp and we’ll spend two nights here. Meals: B, L, D Drive time: 6h Walking: 2-3k

Day 4 - Today we’ll spend the day in Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill) National Park, which is one of Queensland's most significant geological parks, with interesting rocks and landscapes spanning hundreds of millions of years. In the park we’ll visit Lawn Hill Gorge, which is surrounded by red sandstone and a beautiful rainforest. You’ll be able to take a refreshing swim in the spring-fed clear, cold water. We will also visit the upper Gorge named Indarri Falls as well as complete the Island Stack walk. There will be plenty of opportunities to swim throughout the day. Day 5 - Today our journey continues as we cross the Nicholas River where you’ll see a giant causeway. We take station trails to Hells Gates to explore the sandstone formations before making a stop at the lesser- known Echo Gorge to explore the area. Tonight, we’ll camp near the / Queensland border. Meals: B, L, D Drive time: 5h Walking: 2-4k

Day 6 - This morning we’ll cross over many pristine rivers and creeks, and you’ll see giant ancient cycads growing around the region. We’ll make a stop in Borroloola, a remote outback town, to restock before making our way to a true water lover’s paradise known as Lorrella Springs. The area is a massive cattle station of almost a million acres full of hot springs, waterfalls, billabongs, wild rock formations and aboriginal paintings. It’s a true hidden gem where we’ll spend the next two nights camping. Meals: B, L, D Drive time: 6h Walking: 2-3k

Day 7 - Today is all about adventure and exploring. With almost a thousand kilometres of tracks on the property, we spend the daylight hours exploring Lorrella Springs; visiting swimming holes, admiring aboriginal sites and taking in the stunning views from all around the station. Day 8 - Our first stop this morning is the Southern Lost City, where we will take a walk among ancient pillars displaying unique rock formations. We’ll then make our way to Butterfly Gorge, a relaxing waterfall where you can swim. We’ll spend the night camping in Limmen National Park. Meals: B, L, D Drive time: 3h Walking: 2-4k

When we are ready we’ll continue on to the picturesque Lomarieum Lagoon to spot local birdlife. We’ll then move on to Roper Bar, a river crossing used to get access to southern Arnhemland. Here, we’ll wander through the ruins of a historic police station from the early pioneering days, before continuing our journey along the Roper River to Mataranka. Tonight’s camp will be in Elsey National Park. Meals: B, L, D Drive time: 6h Walking: 2-4k

Day 10 - This morning we’ll take a dip in the crystal clear thermal springs at Mataranka (either Mataranka Hot Springs or Bitter Springs). We’ll then pass through the town of Katherine and make a stop at the gold rush town of Pine Creek to learn about the local history. Our journey will then take us to the World Heritage-listed where we will set up camp for the night. Meals: B, L, D Drive time: 4h Walking: 2-4k

Day 11 - We put the truck into 4-wheel drive and make our way into for a swim beneath Kakadu’s tallest waterfall. After our swim we will continue on to Twin Falls where we’ll take a short cruise up the gorge to look for the rare Pig-nosed turtle, which can be spotted on the way to the base of the falls. We’ll then head towards our campsite in Kakadu, but not before making a stop at the Yellow Water Billabong to spot some of the local wildlife. Meals: B, L, D Drive time: 3h Walking: 5-6k

Day 12 - This morning we’ll explore Aboriginal paintings at Ubirr and take in the views across the floodplains, which lead to Arnhemland. After Ubirr we’ll stop at Cahills Crossing, a great place to spot saltwater crocodiles; it’s also the western access road to Arnhemland. We’ll then move on to Bowali Visitor Centre for a look before our Crocodile Jumping Cruise on Adelaide River. This is another opportunity to see saltwater crocodiles and loads of birdlife. We’ll then make our way to Darwin where we will drop you off at your accommodation. Meals: B, L Drive time: 4h Walking: 2-4k
