His two TD runs exactly two minutes apart in the fourth quarter at California, Pa.: Tied, 2-2 put the game away for the Golden Rams. Those runs were from 4 yards and 8 yards out. in PSAC Championship Game: Cal leads, 1-0 Largest WCU margin of victory: 52 (1957) Freshman defensive end Andrew Cohen returned a fumble four yards for West Chester’s other Largest Cal margin of victory: 16 (2007) touchdown, and junior place-kicker Shawn Leo equaled his career high with a 48-yard fi eld goal in the second quarter.

The Golden Rams’ defense allowed just two touchdowns and forced three turnovers. Sophomore LB Ronell Williams registered a game-high 12 tackles, including one sack, and intercepted a pass. Al-Hajj Shabazz intercepted a pass and posted six tackles. Matt Carroll had seven tackles and forced the fumble that Cohen scooped up and scored on. Mike Labor notched 10 tackles in the game as well.

Kelly caught fi ve passes for 100 yards, all in the fi rst half, to lead West Chester receivers in recep- tion yards. LaRonn Lee fi nished with a team-high six grabs for 70 yards.

BRUNDIDGE’s CAREER DAY So., WR Erick Brundidge is quickly making defenses take notice. He currently ranks eighth in the PSAC in receiving yards (302) and is tied for second in TD receptions (4). He set a career-high against Millersville when he caught three touchdown passes from Mike Mattei. He fi nished the day with career highs in catches (5) and yards (156) as well. He is as dangerous a deep threat as there is in the PSAC. Also a member of ’s men’s track & fi eld squad, Brun- didge placed fourth in the 200m and seventh in the 400m at the 2012 PSAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, making him a two-time All-PSAC performer on the track. A nagging football injury kept him out of competition during the outdoor season last spring.

KELLY DISPLAYS WEST CHESTER’S DEPTH Sr., WR Jim Kelly has waited his entire career for this opportunity, and he has not let it slip away. Coming into his fi nal season of eligibility, Kelly had three catches for a total of 30 yards in his col- lege career. However, with injuries to Tim Keyser and LaRonn Lee at different times of the year, Kelly has burst onto the scene with 11 catches for 206 yards and three touchdowns this fall. He even threw a touchdown pass to classmate Sean Beahan against Millersville in a game in which he accounted for three scores, having caught two TD passes that day as well.

WILLIAMS STATES HIS CASE FOR THE DEFENSE So., MLB Ronell Williams leads West Chester in tackles with 40 and is currently second in the league in stops as well. Williams is also tied for the team lead in interceptions (2) and has forced a fumble. The Chester, Pa. native wears the No. 52 at MLB made famous by Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis very well. Though, he claims that it is just a coincidence that the two share the same number. Williams led West Chester in tackles last year as a freshman (79) while making just three starts a year ago. Nobody has ever led West Chester in tackles all four years in school.

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS ... SO THEY SAY West Chester University’s defense is currently ranked fi fth overall in the PSAC. That is a drastic improvement from where the Rams ranked in 2011 (12th) and 2010 (14th). West Chester’s de- fense was last ranked among the conference’s top fi ve in 2009 when it came in fourth overall. That year, the Golden Rams were fi rst in the PSAC in stopping the run. This year, they are fourth in rushing defense and have shown characteristics of that 2009 stop unit. GAME # 5 vs. CALIFORNIA (PA) GAME NOTES
