GOLF TOUR February 3Rd - March 3Rd 2018 DAVID SHORT GOLF PRESENTS SOUTH AFRICA GOLF TOUR February 3rd - March 3rd 2018 WEEK 1: FANCOURT GOLF WEEK WITH GOLF CLINICS WEEK 2: CAPE TOWN & WINELANDS GOLF WEEK WEEK 3: THE GARDEN ROUTE GOLF WEEK WEEK 4: FANCOURT GOLF WEEK WITH GOLF CLINICS www.davidshortgolf.co.uk SOUTH AFRICA GOLF TOUR For the 2018 tour to South Africa, we are returning to the areas that have proved so popular over the years. We commence and indeed finish the tour at the Fancourt Resort on the Garden Route, one of the most illustrious golf resorts in the world. The second leg of the tour takes us to the Western Cape, with four nights in Cape Town and four nights in the Winelands, playing some of our favourite courses and enjoying the culture and hospitality of the ‘Fairest Cape’. For the third week we return to the Garden Route and the quite superb Pezula Resort on the cliffs adjoining the Knysna Heads. Knysna, so often voted as South Africa’s favourite town, is just a joy to experience and often a week there is not long enough! The purpose of the tour is to play some wonderful golf courses, but to truly experience South Africa at its finest, both the stunning coastal and mountain settings, as well as the unique character and charisma of South African society. We have been touring South Africa annually now for more than 20 years, but each time we set foot on the plane to come home, we simply want to be stepping off it again to commence the return trip. We will also ensure that the ambience and hospitality of the tour is first class; it is a social tour as much as a golf tour, and we will experience wonderful restaurants, wine estates as well as getting a real feel for the regions of South Africa that we visit. To book a place on the tour, please call or email Iain, or send a booking request via the web-site and we will then confirm your booking accordingly. I very much hope to see you in South Africa early next year. Alexander Kostopoulos (338173) A research report submitted to the Faculty of Humanities at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, in partial fulfilment for the Degree of Master of Arts. Johannesburg, November 2009 i Declaration I herewith declare that this thesis is my own unaided work. It is submitted for the degree of MA in Sociology at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. It has not been submitted before for any other degree or exam in any other University. It has also not previously been published in any form. Alex Kostopoulos University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg 12 August 2009 ii Abstract This research has explored some of the effects that the build up to the 2010 Football World Cup to be hosted in South Africa has had on a local soccer club, eShibobo Football Club (FC)1. Much hope has been placed on this tournament to bring prosperity and overall regional development to South Africa through increased foreign investment, tourism, and improved infrastructure. Using qualitative research methods in the form of field interviews and documentary analysis, the research suggests that the increased revenue earnings of eShibobo FC can be partially linked to South Africa’s hosting of the 2010 World Cup. With this increased revenue the club has been able to spend larger amounts on player salaries, established a comprehensive youth development programme, created links with foreign clubs, and invested in technology to assist the coaching and playing staff.

  • 2004 PGA TOUR Media Guide / 1-1 Table of Contents
A Message to the Media n behalf of the players and staff, welcome to the 2004 PGA TOUR season. We appreciate your continued interest in our sport, and we clearly recognize the extent to which our success is tied to the thorough and professional coverage we receive from a Owide variety of global media outlets. As the PGA TOUR begins another great season, we can truly state that the image and competitive spirit of our players has led to the healthiest state in the history of our organization. The Sports Business Journal recently reaffirmed this when it published the “2003 League Report Card,” a survey of corporate sponsors’ opinions of their investment in sports properties. The PGA TOUR ranked first in overall satisfaction among the 16 major sports. This is important as we continue to raise the exposure of our tournaments, provide significant value to our sponsors and showcase the widespread excellence of our athletes. The competition level on the PGA TOUR in 2003 was at an all-time high, with season-ending honors going down to the wire. Tiger Woods recorded a season-high five victories and the lowest stroke average on TOUR and garnered a fifth consecutive Player of the Year honor. Vijay Singh won four times and captured his first money title. Davis Love III won a career-high four times, includ- ing THE PLAYERS Championship, making 2003 the first time in 30 years where three players won four or more times in a season. However, the depth of the TOUR was never more evident. Eleven players age 40 or older combined to capture 15 PGA TOUR titles.
