Stretching from Mossel Bay to Storms River and encompassing the towns of Knysna, Oudtshoorn, George, Plettenberg Bay, Sedgefield and Wilderness – this is a coastal wonder land with many fantastic things to see and do. It is called the Garden Route because of the spectacular flora and fauna that surrounds the coast line. There are many interesting things to do on the Garden Route including whale watching, cave exploration, elephant interactions, game drives, mountain passes, beaches, great restaurants and of course excellent golf at Fancourt, Pezula, Oubaai, Simola and Pinnacle Point. In this region, with it’s diverse offering of activities, there is something for everyone. Some activities on the Garden Route include a visit the “Ostrich Capital” in the town of Oudtshoorn, followed by an excursion to the world famous Cango Caves, visit to the Oyster Factory, or a private cruise on the Knysna Lagoon. DESTINATION BIG 5 SAFARI EXPERIENCE Rise at sunrise to head into the wild on your private African safari with your Field Guide and Tracker and discover a world usually only reserved for your screen during ‘Animal Planet’. You’ll find yourself in an environment that is as old as time, where the rhythm of nature is the only Governor. Two safaris take place each day – in the morning and late afternoon (moving into the early evening). This is when the wildlife is most active, and the temperature more moderate. Walking Safari - The bush takes on a completely different perspective when you are on foot. Each of your senses will be on full alert as you feel the grass and stones beneath your feet; touch the leathery leaves of trees you walk beneath; smell the musky scent of wild animals in the vicinity; taste the sweet grass of the veld; and hear the crack of a branch indicating you are not alone. Walks generally take place after breakfast and last approximately 1½ to 2 hours, depending on the fitness level of guests. In summer, due to the heat, walks may be incorporated into the morning game drive before heading back to the lodge for breakfast. DESTINATION CAPE TOWN Mother Nature surpassed herself when crafting the Mother City. Perched between the ocean and the mountain, with a national park at its heart, there is nowhere like Cape Town. Affectionately referred to as The Mother City, Cape Town is the oldest city in South Africa and has a cultural heritage spanning more than 300 years. It is in Cape Town that the Rainbow Nation really covers the spectrum. Between beautiful Cape Dutch homesteads, traditional dancers with painted faces performing in the streets, the smell of spicy Malay cooking and the taste of a well-made wine, this city will fill your senses. Cape Town boasts the top tourism attractions in South Africa, all of which should appear on every visitors itinerary all year round, namely Table Mountain, the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Robben Island, The penguins at Boulders Beach, Cape Point – The Cape of Good Hope. Cape Town, with its many diverse cultures, natural wonders, and breath-taking beauty is a master at capturing peoples hearts. Alexander Kostopoulos (338173) A research report submitted to the Faculty of Humanities at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, in partial fulfilment for the Degree of Master of Arts. Johannesburg, November 2009 i Declaration I herewith declare that this thesis is my own unaided work. It is submitted for the degree of MA in Sociology at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. It has not been submitted before for any other degree or exam in any other University. It has also not previously been published in any form. Alex Kostopoulos University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg 12 August 2009 ii Abstract This research has explored some of the effects that the build up to the 2010 Football World Cup to be hosted in South Africa has had on a local soccer club, eShibobo Football Club (FC)1. Much hope has been placed on this tournament to bring prosperity and overall regional development to South Africa through increased foreign investment, tourism, and improved infrastructure. Using qualitative research methods in the form of field interviews and documentary analysis, the research suggests that the increased revenue earnings of eShibobo FC can be partially linked to South Africa’s hosting of the 2010 World Cup. With this increased revenue the club has been able to spend larger amounts on player salaries, established a comprehensive youth development programme, created links with foreign clubs, and invested in technology to assist the coaching and playing staff.

DAVID SHORT GOLF PRESENTS SOUTH AFRICA GOLF TOUR February 3rd - March 3rd 2018 WEEK 1: FANCOURT GOLF WEEK WITH GOLF CLINICS WEEK 2: CAPE TOWN & WINELANDS GOLF WEEK WEEK 3: THE GARDEN ROUTE GOLF WEEK WEEK 4: FANCOURT GOLF WEEK WITH GOLF CLINICS www.davidshortgolf.co.uk SOUTH AFRICA GOLF TOUR For the 2018 tour to South Africa, we are returning to the areas that have proved so popular over the years. We commence and indeed finish the tour at the Fancourt Resort on the Garden Route, one of the most illustrious golf resorts in the world. The second leg of the tour takes us to the Western Cape, with four nights in Cape Town and four nights in the Winelands, playing some of our favourite courses and enjoying the culture and hospitality of the ‘Fairest Cape’. For the third week we return to the Garden Route and the quite superb Pezula Resort on the cliffs adjoining the Knysna Heads. Knysna, so often voted as South Africa’s favourite town, is just a joy to experience and often a week there is not long enough! The purpose of the tour is to play some wonderful golf courses, but to truly experience South Africa at its finest, both the stunning coastal and mountain settings, as well as the unique character and charisma of South African society. We have been touring South Africa annually now for more than 20 years, but each time we set foot on the plane to come home, we simply want to be stepping off it again to commence the return trip.

  • 2004 PGA TOUR Media Guide / 1-1 Table of Contents
A Message to the Media n behalf of the players and staff, welcome to the 2004 PGA TOUR season. We appreciate your continued interest in our sport, and we clearly recognize the extent to which our success is tied to the thorough and professional coverage we receive from a Owide variety of global media outlets. As the PGA TOUR begins another great season, we can truly state that the image and competitive spirit of our players has led to the healthiest state in the history of our organization. The Sports Business Journal recently reaffirmed this when it published the “2003 League Report Card,” a survey of corporate sponsors’ opinions of their investment in sports properties. The PGA TOUR ranked first in overall satisfaction among the 16 major sports. This is important as we continue to raise the exposure of our tournaments, provide significant value to our sponsors and showcase the widespread excellence of our athletes. The competition level on the PGA TOUR in 2003 was at an all-time high, with season-ending honors going down to the wire. Tiger Woods recorded a season-high five victories and the lowest stroke average on TOUR and garnered a fifth consecutive Player of the Year honor. Vijay Singh won four times and captured his first money title. Davis Love III won a career-high four times, includ- ing THE PLAYERS Championship, making 2003 the first time in 30 years where three players won four or more times in a season. However, the depth of the TOUR was never more evident. Eleven players age 40 or older combined to capture 15 PGA TOUR titles.
