Located just 1/3 of a mile from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Dallara offers visitors the chance to explore 23,000 square feet of interactive and hands-on exhibits centered around the engineering and technology of the world's fastest sport. The Dallara IndyCar Factory is the only facility in the world where visitors get a first-hand look at IndyCars being produced for the IndyCar Series. The Dallara Factory is a wonderful place for IndyCar fans to learn and see how the IndyCar chassis are made. You can see cars in all states of development and construction. Take a walk through a tunnel filled with the current IndyCar's blueprints and design concept drawings or sit down and relax in our theater as you catch up on the past, present and future of Gian Paolo Dallara and his company, Dallara Automobili. After a morning of exploring the factory we will have lunch and then head to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Second Stop: Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum Address: 4790 West 16th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222 Website: https://www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/at-the-track/museum The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum is located five miles northwest of downtown Indianapolis on the grounds of "The Greatest Race Course in the World." It is recognized as one of the most highly visible museums in the world devoted to automobiles and auto racing. In 1987, the Speedway grounds were honored with the designation of National Historic Landmark. The Museum’s collection encompasses race cars from many series including IndyCar, NASCAR, Formula One, Sprint, Midget, motorcycle races, and drag racing. The collection encompasses motorcycles, dragsters, cars and other vehicles that have set world land speed records at various points in history. Our 90 minute tour includes visits to places normally open only to officials, drivers, and teams during race events. These typically include the timing-and-scoring suite in the Pagoda, the Media Center, Victory Podium, Gasoline Alley garages and one of the typical hospitality suites. This is a very easy day trip, as Indianapolis is only about a two hour drive for most OVEB members, but if you would like to explore more of Indianapolis, you are welcome to spend the night and join us for additional Sunday activities that have been organized by Jill Hulsmann. Lilly, Jr. Mansion, Fairbanks Art and Nature Park, walking paths, gardens, a greenhouse and more. The world class facility is about a ten minute drive from the hotel. At the Indianapolis Museum of Art you can see masterpieces by artists like Rembrandt and Turner, Cezanne and Picasso, O’Keeffe and Hopper, Calder and Lichtenstein and LeWitt and Sherman. It contains the most comprehensive collection of Neo- Impressionist paintings in North America as well as works of Abstract Expressionism, Minimalism, Pop Art, light- and video- based works, and contemporary design. On the same campus is the National Historic Landmark mansion home of J.K. Lilly Jr., the late Indianapolis businessman, collector, and philanthropist. As you move from room to room inside this historic home, marvel at the décor, all carefully maintained as if the Lilly family still lives there. Lilly House has been restored to its 1930s glory and sits on the magnificent 26- acre Oldfields estate surrounded by lovely gardens. Floor 2 hosts a variety of exhibitions ranging from porcelain to photography and in the garage don’t miss the 1910s to the 1950s era cars, meticulously maintained and preserved. By the time you wander back into the open air, you’ll feel like you’ve taken a trip to early 20th century America. You can explore the Lilly House at your own pace from 11 am to 5 pm or opt for a docent led tour at 2 pm. An onsite beer garden and a cafe is a possible launch spot. The site also includes a nationally renowned botanical garden and the 100-acre Fairbanks Park, a woodlands-wetlands area with walking trails. This is one of Indy's premier attractions and a place where folks can easily spend a few hours or a whole day. The museum opens at 11 am. General admission is $18.00, but members of reciprocal organizations including the Cincinnati Art Museum, Taft Art Museum and Cox Arboretum receive free admission upon presentation of a valid membership card. Certain locations showed clear overlap among multiple themes and enabled the plan to filter through the long list to identify seven final sites to explore as plan ‘focus areas’ or ‘anchors’.

He does this daily in his position with the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA) as well as by serving enthusiastically on several garden related Boards and Committees. He is a strong proponent of the work of landscape architects and works tirelessly to increase recognition of their design achievements. Since 1997 Mark has been on the staff of the IMA where he is the Ruth Lilly Deputy Director of Environmental and Historic Preservation. His title is lofty, but his mission simple...To oversee the wonderful gardens, grounds and historic structures of the IMA. They are vast and diverse and make the IMA a unique institution among its peers. Its combination of world class art collection and distinctive gardens are unrivaled in the country. Mark never hesitates to credit the numerous landscape architects whose fingers of creativity have touched the museum and whose visions he strives to preserve. The Museum's main 26-acre campus. Originally designed by Sasaki, Dawson, DeMay & Associates, it has subsequently been altered and improved by a variety of notables, including Johnson, Johnson & Roy, Browning, Day, Mullins & Deardorf, and Claire Bennett, FASLA (past ASLA president). Mark is currently facilitating new campus improvements as well as a new land use plan.     IOGA Hoosier Organic Gardener October 2010 Indiana Organic Gardeners Association Message from Our President … IN THIS ISSUE Many of you know that our friend and fellow organic gardener/ farmer, Kelly Funk was struck by lightning in July while working on her and husband John Ferree’s organic farm, Seldom Seen Farm (you may recall that IOGA had just visited their farm in October, 2009). The good news is that John was nearby to provide an immediate response and Kelly survived, but she is Felege Hiywot facing a long hard battle to recover. There have been positive Center signs – movement in her eyes and sometimes the squeeze of a hand when requested – little signs that mean a lot, when she had been in a coma only weeks before. She continues to be surrounded by loving, supportive friends and family and we Raised Beds continue to be hopeful for a full recovery. Lynne Sullivan That rogue lighting bolt struck more than our friend that day. It struck the core of Indiana’s organic farming and market community. As news of the tragedy spread, so did the desire to help. Within days, a recovery fund was set up in her name at Huntington Bank to assist the young family with expected medical costs and fundraising events are currently in the works. Work parties (aka Crop Mobs) have been organized to help with necessary farm chores. And countless people have contributed in other very important ways through positive thoughts and prayers. It is amazing and humbling to be part of such a dynamic and caring community.
