Jamie Sonoda has joined PBN as administrative assistant. She previously handled administrative duties at food brokerage L.H. Gamble Co. and First Hawaiian Bank. She attended Kapiolani Community College, focusing on liberal arts and Japanese studies.

First Hawaiian Bank

Robert T. Fujioka, Robert S. Harrison and Raymond S. Ono, all members of the bank’s senior management committee, have been promoted from executive vice presidents to vice chairmen. Fujioka will be the bank’s chief lending officer, responsible for the commercial banking group. Harrison will add trust and investment functions to his responsibilities. Ono will be responsible for the business banking and wealth management group.

Corbett Kalama and Iris Y. Matsumoto have been appointed to the bank’s senior management committee. Kalama is executive vice president and region supervisor. Matsumoto is senior vice president, human resources division.

Alan H. Arizumi has been promoted from senior vice president and manager to executive vice president and manager, corporate banking division.

Kristi L. Maynard has been promoted from senior vice president and manager to executive vice president and manager, treasury and investment division.

Melvin W.Y. Mow has been promoted from senior vice president and chief credit officer to executive vice president and chief credit officer.

Benjamin K. Akana has been named senior vice president and manager of the main banking region. He joined the bank in 1991.

Neill A. Char has been named senior vice president and manager of the University branch. He joined the bank in 2001 as a corporate banking officer.

Robert J. Heberer has been named senior vice president, credit administration department. He joined the bank in 1974 as a commercial loan officer.

Gregory J. Sitar has been named senior vice president and area manager, Pearlridge branch. He joined the bank in 1983 as a management trainee.

Vernon Y.C. Wong has been named senior vice president and manager, private wealth management. He joined the bank in 2005 as vice president and wealth management officer.

Dirck J. Noordhoff has been named partner and vice president of finance and operations. He previously was vice president of merchandising and production for Hilo Hattie.

Roberts Inc.

Lori Yoshioka has been named director of the employee stock ownership plan. She previously was an administrative specialist for the Hawaii State Federal Credit Union and a human resources manager at Hawaiian Airlines.

Maui Medical Group Inc.

Mark H. Kadowaki has joined the health-care provider’s general surgery department. He previously was director of trauma and chief of surgery at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Ill.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

James L. Bersson has been named regional business director, Corps of Engineers—Pacific Ocean Division. He previously was chief of engineering and construction and currently is deputy district engineer for programs and project management, both for the corps’ Honolulu district.

Hawaiian Airlines

Eric Kaler has been appointed director of security. He most recently was station manager and security director for Asia Pacific Airlines at Honolulu International Airport.

Ko Olina Golf Club

Travis Joerger has been promoted from first assistant golf professional to head golf professional. He has eight years of experience in the golf business as a professional and an instructor.

Kahala Associates

Dwight Douglass Synan has joined the company as a Realtor associate.

Mary K. Townsley-Ross has been promoted from assistant vice president of corporate communications to vice president. She will continue to oversee the bank’s internal communications for print and Web-based channels. She also will support marketing communications, media relations and crisis communications planning efforts.

Christopher Cole Young has been promoted from assistant vice president of private client services to vice president. He will continue to establish and manage client relationships for the sale of credit, deposit, trust and investment services.

Theresa D. Guevara has been named assistant vice president and residential loan center manager for the bank’s residential loan office in Guam. She will manage the sales and service performance of the Guam residential lending group and oversee the development and implementation of the bank’s business strategy. She previously was a loan management officer for the Guam Economic Development and Commerce Authority.

Organ Donor Center of Hawaii

Stephen A. Kula has been named executive director. He most recently was director of long-term care for AIG Hawaii Insurance Co. Inc. Earlier he was president and CEO of Hospice Hawaii for 12 years and executive director for The Arc in Hawaii for three years.

Castle & Cooke Homes Hawaii Inc.

Mary Hakoda has been promoted from principal broker of Island of Lanai Properties to vice president of sales. She will oversee the company’s sales operation on all islands.

Sue Murray has been promoted from broker-in-charge for Island of Lanai Properties to principal broker of Island of Lanai Properties.

Elarka Yuen has been named broker-in-charge for Island of Lanai Properties. She previously was a sales representative for Castle & Cooke Homes Hawaii Inc. at Lalea, Hawaii Kai and Mililani residential communities.

Garret Furukido has been named to the newly created position of director of residential development. He previously was director of project sales.

Island Insurance Co. Ltd.

Randy Baldemor has been named to the newly created position of assistant vice president, claims. He will be responsible for special projects, serving in the executive file review committee, conducting legal research and recommending changes to company policies and practices. He previously was a litigation partner with Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel.

Irving “Bulla” Eastman has been named to the newly created position of director of security for the company’s 10 hotels in Waikiki. He most recently was loss/risk prevention agent for the Sheraton Moana Surfrider and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani hotels.

Guy Underkoffler has been named senior vice president. He joined the company in 2003 as controller.

John A. Burns School of Medicine

Jeffrie Jones has been appointed director of development for The John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She most recently was director of philanthropy at Straub Clinic & Hospital. Earlier she was director of general merchandise and director of marketing for Foodland Super Market Ltd. and vice president at Peck Sims Mueller Inc.

Sharon Yoshida has been named vice president and chief financial officer. She previously worked for Ernst & Young, Bank of Hawaii, Central Pacific Bank and Centex Destination Properties Hawaii.

East-West Center

Derek Ferrar has been named media relations specialist in the office of external affairs. He most recently was a public information specialist with the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. Earlier he was editor in chief of Hawaiian Airlines’ Hana Hou! magazine and a founding editor of The Honolulu Weekly.

Gay Nagashima Sato has been named information technology project manager. She most recently was manager of wireless service operations at Hawaiian Telcom. Earlier she was customer operations manager with Nextel.

Chevy Tharp has been named regional vice president of the business brokerage division, spanning all Hawaiian islands.

Jennifer Sinclair has been named commercial/business loans specialist.
