The Tattersalls Cheltenham December Sale Will Take Place This The Tattersalls Cheltenham December Sale will take place this year alongside racing on the Friday of the Cheltenham International Meeting and incorporates the NH Breeze Up. The sale will take place an hour after racing in the Tattersalls Sales arena. Catering is available on site in the Tattersalls marquee and hospitality is available to clients in the Tattersalls Sales arena. The Breeze Up will be restricted approximately 30 horses with the breeze itself taking place before racing on the morning of the December Sale. The breeze up will be recorded and available online to view and clients will be able to attend and view the breeze live prior to racing. The highest price paid for a breeze up horse in 2017 was £115,000 when Neil Mulholland signed for a Germany filly from the family of Supreme Prince & Supreme Serenade consigned by Meadowview Stables. Tiger Roll winner of the 2018 Grand National for Gordon Elliott and Gigginstown House Stud is a graduate of the December Sale having been sold for £80,000 by Nigel Hawke at the 2013 renewal to the owners Gigginstown. The 2017 Grand National winner One For Arthur is a graduate of the 2013 December Sale selling to Tom Malone for £60,000 produced and sold by Liam Kenny's Ballydarragh Stables. Dual Grade 1 winning mare Fayonagh was a graduate of the 2016 Cheltenham December Sale selling to Maura Gittins for £64,000. Poetic Rhythm winner of the Grade 1 2018 Challow Hurdle was sold at the 2015 renewal of the December Sale to Chris Coley by Knockanglass Stables for £35,000. Lord Windermere is one of the most famous breeze up graduates of this sale when bought by GH Bloodstock for £75,000 and later winning the Cheltenham Gold Cup for Dr Ronan Lambe and Jim Culloty. .

ABOUT THE GAME By Emma Berry LEIGHLINBRIDGE, Ireland--It's all systems go at Ballyhane Stud with the breeding season underway and its new stallion Soldier's Call (GB) (Showcasing {GB}) already in demand, and on Tuesday the Co. Carlow stud hosted the official launch of a valuable new race sponsorship. The Irish EBF Ballyhane S., to be run over six furlongs at Naas on Monday, Aug. 3, is open to juveniles by a sire registered with the European Breeders' Fund whose median sales price is no more than i75,000, with weights allocated on a sliding scale according to that price. The total prize fund of i200,000 will certainly provide a decent lure for connections but there is an extra cherry on top for any owner with a 2-year-old in training by one of the established Ballyhane sires. • How Horse Racing and Betting Became So Deeply Linked.Pdf
How Horse Racing and Betting Became So Deeply Linked Horse racing is one of the most popular sports in the UK, with ITV’s coverage of the 2019 Grand National drawing in 9.6m viewers. This was a 12% increase from 2018, and an estimated 600m people tuned in across the globe. It also remains the most bet-upon sport in the UK. Aside from viewing figures, the 2018 Grand National saw £250m being bet on the race. But it's not just for dedicated equestrians either. You can easily find guides to horse racing betting for beginner's on https://www.onlinesportsbettingsites.co.uk/, for instance. So how did horse racing and betting become almost synonymous? When did horse racing start? Horse racing goes back much further than you would think. During the Roman era people take part in horse-pulled chariot races. These races even formed part of the Greek Olympic Games. There’s some evidence to suggest that horse racing could go back even further in Asian countries. In terms of UK horse racing, the sport became known in the 12th century. The oldest horse race still going today is the Kiplingcotes Derby. This race goes back to 1519 and took place in East Riding, Yorkshire. Horse racing caught England’s attention during the reign of Charles II, and the king held races from 1660. Newmarket was the first location officially used for such races, during which two horses would compete on private courses or open fields. This race became the Newmarket Town Plate horse race and Charles II remains the only king to have ever won a horse race – back in 1671.

All rights reserved . 1 | P a g e 2016 Grand National Tips Spring got off to a great start with an early Easter and brighter evenings and it also means it’s time for QED’s Grand National tips! For those of you in a hurry, my tips are at the end of this article. Disclaimer - I have not enjoyed great Grand National success over the years, but that won't stop me from sharing my tips and tactics with you. But, before we get into the euphoria of all that, you would be disappointed if I did not throw in a few ‘risk warnings’: Risk warnings Tipping horses is not an activity regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Betting on a horse is a gamble not an investment. A bit like high tech stocks on P/E ratios of 200 plus in 2000. I have no qualifications or expertise in horse racing and my past performance is no indication of future performance (which is a good thing?). What goes up might come down and not get up again. Especially over Becher’s Brook. Only bet for fun and with an amount you would be happy to lose. If you want decent long term returns send your money to QED not Ladbrokes. Your relationship might be at risk if you don’t place your partner’s (or boss’!) winning bet. A word on Efficient Markets … In an efficient market the price contains all the known information. If new information arrives it can change the price.
