0.3 PROJECT ALIGNMENT DESCRIPTION

The Project Road Tonk-Nainwa-Keshoraipatan starts from cross(X)-Junction with NH-12 (-Deoli Section) near Tonk & terminates at Cross-Junction junction with SH-33 (Kota-Lalsot Mega Highway) in Keshoraipatan.

In Nainwa, project road is overlapping with NH-116 from Ch 44+200, which is retained. After Nainwa, road separates from NH-116 to the left. Length of overlap is 3.470 km

At Ch 83+800, there is junction with SH-29. From this junction, road has overlap of 2.860 km with Sh-29 which is retained. Road Separates from SH-29 in Khatkad.

The Project Road as described in the terms of References is 113 Km. Actual design length is 119.005 Km.

There are a number of junctions very important. Cross(X)-Junction at km 0+000 with NH-12 (Jaipur-Deoli Section) near Tonk, T-Junction at km 44+200 with NH-116, Y-junction with NH-116 after Nainwa, T- junction with SH-29 at Ch 83+800, T-Junction with SH-29 in Khatkad, Cross-Junction at km 109+005 with SH-33 (Kota-Lalsot Mega Highway) in Keshoraipatan.

The index map depicting the project road is presented in Fig. 0.1-

The traffic growth rate for the projected traffic is taken as 5%.

As per the projected traffic, the values of PCU are very less due to discontinuity of Project road and poor pavement, after development of road, the traffic intensity will increase because of diverted traffic from adjacent roads. So the project road is proposed to be upgraded.

0.10 PAVEMENT COMPOSITIONS

The existing crust of project alignment is WBM and BT layer (100-120mm thick). The crust has been dismantled in most of the stretches. The method of design followed is a modification of the CBR method incorporating mechanistic approach. The empirical pavement design presented in IRC-37-2012, "GUIDELINES FOR THE DESIGN OF FLEXIBLE PAVEMENTS" (Second Revision) has been extended to cater design traffic up to 200 MSA using analytical design method and has been followed for this project. The traffic used in design is in terms of the cumulative number of standard axles to be carried during the design life of the road. Use of the CBR method for pavement design, the sub grade strength of the new two lanes and widening

L. N. Malviya Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd. 8 Feasibility Report (Draft), Volume I Main Report Chapter 00- Executive Summary Preparation of Feasibility Report For Two Laning of State Tonk-Nainwa-Keshoraipatan Road Highways Package No. 14/SH/PPP/2014-15 Highway -IV

were assessed in terms of the CBR value as per the procedure prescribed in the standards. Pavement design catalogues giving standard pavement compositions as given in IRC-37-2012 for various CBR values ranging from 2% to 10% six levels of design traffic 10,20,30,50,100 and ISO MSA are used with necessary extrapolations to obtain pavement thicknesses for 200 MSA. It was observed that the adequate quantity of sub grade for design CBR of 7% is available. Using 7% CBR for sub grade and from the curves as mentioned in IRC: 37- 2012 pavement thickness were computed for the relevant millions of standard axles and furnished in Table 0.5. Pavement thickness required for the above designed MSA and as per IRC guidelines is shown in following table-

0.20 RESETTLEMENT AND REHABILITATION (R & R) POLICY The Ministry of Rural Development (Department of Land resources) has prepared the National Policy on Resettlement and Rehabilitation for the people who will be affected by the project. The policy describes the principle and approach to minimize and mitigate the negative social and economic impacts caused by the project. The R & R policy broadly addresses all issues such as compensation, assistance, replacement value, vulnerable group, etc. The policy ensures that people affected by project must be able to restore their livelihood to the pre project level. The Project alignment is proposed in such a way with minimum Resettlement and Rehabilitation.

0.21 COST ESTIMATE

The total project cost is calculated based on the quantity of individual item multiplied by the rate for this item and summing up the cost of all the items.

The Project road has been considered as one homogenous section and the bill wise total project cost is tabulated in Table below for all the packages of the project.
