Two Tone Tarot Shadow Guide Booklet This book is a guide to the symbolism used in Two Tone Tarot. This is not a manual on how to use the deck. Tarot is meant to be interpreted by the reader with help from the artist. While much of the original artwork was constructed with traditional tarot in mind, much of the symbolism and meanings are interpreted and relevent to the artists’ day-to-day life. This acknowledgement of Two Tone Tarot as it exists is a symbolic crossroad; the true blend of traditional and modern. The symbolism of the deck interweaves and mixes with the more familar tarot icons, archetypes, and templates. It is recommended that this book be used in conjunction with guides to the traditional tarot, and tarot reading guides for those who are new to the medium. Major Arcana The Major Arcana is comprised of 22 cards tht navigate significant experiences, relationships, and pathways in our lives. In the even that these cards are present and dominate a reading, they can point toward key issues that may need to be explored or addressed. Any Minor Arcana cards present in a reading alingside the Major Arcana will often provide supplementary information and guidance. The Fool is the main character of the Major Arcana and makes his journey through each of the cards, meeting new teachers and learning new life lessons along the way, and eventually reaching the completion of his journey with the World card. This is known as the Fool’s Journey and is a helpful way of understanding the story line of the Major Arcana Tarot card meanings. -

The news S accounts have been concerned with the radical changes, the upset of traditional practices, and the technical details of the re stored Holy Week services, but the real issue in the reform is the development of true holiness in the members of Christ's Church. This is the expectation of Pope Pius XII, as expressed personally by him. It is insisted upon repeatedly in the official language of the new laws - the goal is simple: that the faithful may take part in the most sacred week of the year "more easily, more devoutly, and more fruitfully." Certainly the changes now commanded ,by the Apostolic See are extraordinary, particularly since they come after nearly four centuries of little liturgical development. This is especially true of the different times set for the principal services. On Holy Thursday the solemn evening Mass now becomes a clearer and more evident memorial of the Last Supper of the Lord on the night before He suffered. On Good Friday, when Holy Mass is not offered, the liturgical service is placed at three o'clock in the afternoon, or later, since three o'clock is the "ninth hour" of the Gospel accounts of our Lord's Crucifixion. -

David Trobisch and David Parker on the Origin of the New Testament, the Historical Jesus, and How Manuscripts Can Reveal What Texts Conceal Tom Dykstra I grew up with a picture of Paul traveling through Asia and Europe, founding congregations, counseling and teaching the men and women who had given their life to Jesus. If he could not visit them, he sent letters. When Paul died, his letters were kept as treasures. Each church that had received one of his letters saved it, had it read during worship services, and exchanged copies of the letter with other congregations close by. Later the congregations tried to complete their collection. But this view does not match the uniformity of manuscript evidence. 1 --David Trobisch It is even more remarkable that attempts to reconstruct the supposed document 'Q' (the lost collection used by both Matthew and Luke postulated by those who argue that Matthew and Luke are independent) use text-critical terminology to describe their activities. However, since all they are doing is making selections from a twentieth-century printed text, which does not even presume to provide confidently the text of the four-Gospel collection, never mind that of the independent first-century texts, this use of language must be dismissed as illusory. 2 --David Parker Modern scholarship has produced detailed biographies of Paul, massive multi-volume inquiries into “the historical Jesus,” and mountains of exegetical literature that claims to extract the author’s meaning from each word of each New Testament book. Typically, this literature analyzes the scriptural texts with little reference to actual manuscripts. -

Requiem Eucharist for the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed for All Souls’ Sunday 1 November 2020 3.00 pm Welcome to St Edmundsbury Cathedral In this afternoon’s All Souls’ Service we remember with thanksgiving the people we love who have died. The Commemoration of the departed on All Souls’ Day celebrates the saints in a more intimate way than All Saints’ Day. It allows us to remember with thanksgiving before God those whom we have known directly: those who gave us life, or who supported and encouraged us on life’s journey or who nurtured us in faith. In our worship, we sense that it is a fearful thing to come before the unutterable goodness and holiness of God, even for those who are redeemed in Christ; that it is searing as well as life-giving to experience God’s mercy. This instinct is expressed in the liturgy of All Souls’ Day. During this service, everyone is invited to bring the names of loved ones departed, written on the small white card crosses, to the cross before the altar, and to light a prayer candle there. Names will not be read aloud so that the total focus of this part of the liturgy may be on silent prayer and our individual commendation to God of those whom we remember but see no more. Press Contacts Patrick Milliman 212.590.0310, [email protected] Sandra Ho 212.590.0311, [email protected] THE MORGAN LIBRARY & MUSEUM TO EXHIBIT NEWLY ACQUIRED PRAYER BOOK MADE FOR QUEEN CLAUDE DE FRANCE TINY BOOK—JUST 2 ¾ BY 2 INCHES—IS AN EXTREMELY RARE MASTERWORK OF RENAISSANCE ILLUMINATION Manuscript to Go on View May 20 New York, NY, May 9, 2008—The Morgan Library & Museum will put on special exhibition beginning May 20 an extremely rare Renaissance illuminated manuscript, the Prayer Book of Queen Claude de France (1499–1524), created around the time of her coronation in 1517. It is the most important single illuminated manuscript acquired by the Morgan in the last twenty-five years and will go on view in the East Room of the historic McKim building. The tiny, jewel-like book, measuring just 2 ¾ by 2 inches, is richly illustrated with 132 scenes from the lives of Christ, the Virgin Mary, the apostles, and numerous saints. The work was created by an artist known as the Master of Claude de France and can be characterized as the pinnacle of delicacy in Renaissance illumination. The artist, named after this prayer book and a companion manuscript, was active in Tours during the first quarter of the sixteenth century. Barely a dozen of his works survive. The prayer book was given to the Morgan by Mrs. Alexandre P. Rosenberg, a long time generous supporter of the Museum. The gift is in memory of her husband Alexandre Paul Rosenberg, who died in Virgin and Child with St. John the Baptist, with the coat of arms of Queen Claude de France in the lower border, illuminated 1987. -

Acta Poloniae Historica 108, 2013 PL ISSN 0001–6892 Piotr Guzowski THE ORIGINS OF THE EUROPEAN MARRIAGE PATTERN IN EARLY MODERN PERIOD FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF POLISH HISTORY* I INTRODUCTION The publication of John Hajnal’s seminal articles on the ‘European marriage pattern’1 has brought marriage patterns to the centre of scholarly interest not only among demographers, but also among scholars whose main areas of study are economic, legal, and cultural history.2 All the scholars, including Hajnal himself, have usually concentrated on determining distinctive features of the pattern, its geographical reach, and various consequences of its existence. Yet, the very origins and circumstances in which the pattern emerged has not been for many years the subject of separate studies. The Holy See JOHN PAUL II HOMILY AT MASS Tuesday, 15 June 1999, Kraków 1. Te Deum laudamus: te Dominum confitemur. Te aeternum Patrem, omnis terra veneratur. “We praise you, O God, we acclaim you as the Lord Everlasting Father, all the world bows down before you.” How great is the gift of Divine Providence which today enables me, together with the Church in Kraków, to join in this hymn which, for centuries, heaven and earth have raised to the glory of their Creator, Lord and Father! Te per orbem terrarum sancta confitetur Ecclesia, Patrem immensae maiestatis; “To the ends of the earth your holy Church proclaims her faith in you: Father, whose majesty is boundless.” It is a great gift that, while the Church throughout the world gives thanks to God for the two thousand years of her existence, at the same time the Church here in Kraków gives thanks for its own millennium! How can we not intone the solemn Te Deum, which today takes on a particular significance; it expresses the gratitude of entire generations of the city’s inhabitants for everything that the community of the faithful has contributed to the life of the Kraków region. How can we not give thanks for that breath of the Spirit of Christ which from the Upper Room spread throughout the world and reached the banks of the Vistula, and continually renews the face of the earth - of this land of Kraków! We praise you, O God! 2 I extend a heartfelt greeting to all the people of the city.
