Palliative Position ,

The Moncton () is seeking a full-time locum in Palliative Medicine from October 23, 2017 to September 28, 2018. We are welcoming applications from qualified individuals who are interested in joining our team, which currently consists of 3.2 full-time palliative medicine physicians. Duties include the following:

• Participation in the Palliative Medicine Consult Service (providing guidance to physicians and direct medical care to patients) for Moncton Area, Horizon Health Network, consisting of the palliative care unit, in-hospital consults, and outpatient consults including home visits and outpatient clinics. • Participation in after-hours on-call coverage for the palliative medicine consultation service. • Active participation in regular multidisciplinary rounds both in hospital and in the community, with the goal of anticipatory patient management, symptom control and timely discharge planning, if appropriate. • Participation in delivering continuing education to the multidisciplinary team and other primary care providers.

The is a 386-bed tertiary and critical care facility within Horizon Health Network. It is a major referral hospital which serves communities throughout New Brunswick, and northern . It is a Level II Trauma Centre which offers tertiary services in , and neonatal care and includes all other major services and subspecialties. The Moncton Hospital offers excellent opportunities for teaching and clinical research and has academic affiliation with .

Requirements: Member of the Division of Palliative Care (Department of Family Medicine) must have one or more of the following qualifications: • Canadian College of Family Physicians • American Board of Family Medicine • Le Collège des médecins du Québec (Médecine familiale)

They should also have either a Certificate in Added Competence in Palliative Care from the College of Family Physicians of or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent training or experience in palliative medicine.

In special circumstances foreign graduates and other physicians who qualify for licensure in the Province of New Brunswick will be considered.

Remuneration: Remuneration is based on a salaried model (according to the Medical Pay Plan from Medicare, New Brunswick). This could range between a minimum of $163,722 to a maximum of $191,880 annually (excluding benefits and source deductions) based on qualifications and experience. On call remuneration is based on a sessional fee rate plus fee-for- service billing.
