We are now into the fifth year of our partnership with Mapei New Zealand Ltd for our group teams and tournaments. Mapei New Zealand Ltd and ND Cricket formed a partnership to boost our fine record of achievement and allow us to continue to grow and develop future players to follow Vettori, Flynn, Southee and Marshall as BLACKCAPS. Mapei internationally has shown a commitment to the development of Sport over the years by sponsoring a number of international events and teams. They also founded the Mapei Sports Institute in 1996 to assist athletes to attain their goals. In www.cmcricket.co.nz continuning this philosophy Mapei NZ recognises the value of supporting chil- dren’s sport in New Zealand and is proud to sponsor ND Cricket. I am sure all of you will represent your district and your team with pride and will play fairly at all times. Please enjoy play- ing and watching the great game of cricket. Good luck to each of you. DAVID COOPER CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER │ND CRICKET COUNTIES MANUKAU CRICKET ASSOCIATION NORTHERN DISTRICTS JUNIOR SECONDARY TOURNAMENT 2010 03 We still call ourselves Counties Manukau, but we are now part of the Super City, so welcome to our part of Auckland. This age group used to be the Under 15 tournament, a trophy CMCA has uplifted for the last three years so we see our hosting of this first Junior Secondary Boys Tournament as well earned. The old Manukau City Council provided many multi use community parks to be used for a range of things by local communities, most of them include a recrea- tion centre and public swimming pool. It was a very successful concept and we hope it continues under the new establishment. As a result we don’t have a park big enough to host the entire tourney but we have two parks (Mountfort and War Memorial Park) not far apart for this tournament. Most teams should get to Mountfort Park at some stage, there they will see a $5 million multipurpose community facility almost finished, unfortunately about 2 weeks after this tournament. This is another legacy of the old Manukau City Coun- cil. A Plane will fly low overhead, and hopefully line the runway up at Auckland Inter- national Airport, about every 2 minutes, that’s another feature of South Auckland www.cmcricket.co.nz life. O behalf of CMCA, I welcome you to Manurewa. We extend our welcome to players, parents, coaches, managers, umpires, spectators, and sponsors. We look forward to an excellent week of cricket on good pitches. Thanks in advance to the CMCA umpires and Fred and Shayne Watts who pre- pare our wickets and grounds. By the end of the week we hope you will have had a thoroughly enjoyable stay, played good cricket and go away from here well satisfied.
