This year’s event will include more than 200 business leaders from a variety of Central Ohio family-owned businesses. The evening provides an opportunity for family business peers to network and share experiences while enjoying a hometown baseball game. This year’s game will feature the Columbus Clippers against the Buffalo Bisons. Each year, a family business leader is chosen to throw out the first pitch of the game. The 2014 selection is Steve Harmon, Managing Director and second-generation leader of Spartan Logistics. Tickets may be purchased from the Conway Center for Family Business by contacting Deana Gordon, 614-253-4820 or [email protected], or by visiting www.familybusinesscenter.com. Twenty-seven Operating Support grants were awarded totaling $3.1 million and 57 grants totaling $561,842 in Project Support. VIDEO VIEWS The Art Makes Columbus/Columbus Makes Art campaign generated nearly 400 online, print and broadcast stories, $9.1 million in publicity and 350 million earned media impressions featuring the arts and artists in Columbus. We held our first annual ColumbusMakesArt.com Columbus Open Studio & Stage October 8-9, a self-guided art tour featuring 26 artist studios, seven stages and seven community partners throughout Columbus, providing more than 1,400 direct engagements with artists in their creative spaces. Only six managers return from the 2019 season, although several of the League’s new field generals bring pre-existing ties to their teams and communities. It is the first time since 2006 that more than half of the circuit’s clubs changed managers during an offseason. The reining IL Manager of the Year Damon Berryhill is the International League’s longest- tenured manager, preparing to begin his fourth season at the helm of the Gwinnett Stripers. Also hoping to get his team back to the postseason is Brady Williams, who took Durham to the finals in his first year with the Bulls in 2019. They will be challenged in the South Division by another returning manager in Norfolk, Gary Kendall.     Nationwide Realty to oversee stadium project Business First of Columbus - March 29, 2006 Franklin County commissioners didn't venture far from the Arena District to select a company to help them build a $65 million minor league baseball park in that neighborhood. The commissioners said Tuesday they are beginning contract negotiations with Nationwide Realty Investors for the company to serve as owners representative for the ballpark project. Nationwide Realty is the developer of the adjacent Arena District, having worked on $616 million in projects there, including Nationwide Arena, home of the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets. The firm is the development arm of Columbus-based Nationwide. The stadium will be called Huntington Park as part of a $12 million naming rights deal the county signed this year with Huntington Bancshares Inc. (NASDAQ:HBAN). The stadium will be built at the northwest corner of Nationwide Boulevard and Neil Avenue. The commissioners want the stadium, which carries an estimated price tag of $65 million, to open in 2008. Until then, the ballpark's principal tenant, the county-owned Columbus Clippers, will continue to play at Cooper Stadium, also owned by the county. Nationwide Realty was one of eight companies that pursued the owners rep contract. Once on the job, it will supervise construction and be responsible for seeing the project completed on time and within budget. Commissioners said they will seek certain assurances in negotiations with Nationwide, including that the ballpark be accommodating for families and affordable. They also want final responsibilities for cost overruns clearly spelled out. Nationwide Realty will waive its fees for its owners representative services as a contribution to the project, said Michelle Chippas, spokeswoman for the Columbus-based company.
