Tsem Rinpoche was a world-renowned Buddhist teacher, the 25th incarnation from a long line of Indian, Nepali and Tibetan Buddhist masters dating back to over 2,500 years ago. He was the founder of the Kechara Buddhist Organisation headquartered in Malaysia, a prolific author of commentaries, discourses and books on Buddhism, and a beloved spiritual guide to many disciples around the world. He dedicated his entire life to the practice and proliferation of Buddhism especially through the digital world. Beloved for his unconventional, contemporary approach to Dharma, His Eminence the 25th Tsem Rinpoche brought more than 2,500 years of Buddhist wisdom and teachings to the modern spiritual seeker by connecting ancient worlds with new people, cultures, attitudes and lifestyles. A Mongolian-Tibetan heritage, a childhood in Taiwan and America, intensive monastic studies in India and later the Founder of the Kechara organisation in Malaysia – these were but some of the many facets that contributed to Tsem Rinpoche’s unique ability to effortlessly bridge the East and the West. His teachings brought the Dharma to life and made the ancient time-honoured Buddhist philosophies and practices relevant to the 21st Century. Tsem Rinpoche was strongly inclined towards Dharma since his early childhood, and he studied under many great Buddhist masters of the Tibetan tradition including His Holiness Kyabje 1 Zong Rinpoche, His Eminence Drubwang Gangchen Rinpoche, His Eminence Dagom Rinpoche, His Eminence Kyabje Lati Rinpoche, His Eminence Kensur Jampa Yeshe Rinpoche, His Eminence Kensur Rinpoche Lobsang Tharchin and Venerable Geshe Tsultim Gyeltsen. He eventually went on to receive his monastic education at Gaden Shartse Monastery, currently located in Mundgod, South India. Following the advice of his beloved Root Guru, H.H. Kyabje Zong Rinpoche, Tsem Rinpoche took his vows as a monk and joined Gaden Shartse Monastery when he was in his early 20s. In fact, Tsem Rinpoche’s connection with Gaden Monastery goes far back in history. One of his previous incarnations, Duldzin Drakpa Gyaltsen, built the original Gaden Monastery in Tibet. Another incarnation, Panchen Sonam Drakpa, was not only the Abbot of Gaden Monastery but also the 15th Gaden Tripa, the Throneholder of the Gelugpa lineage. Tsem Rinpoche’s two immediate preceding incarnations, Gedun Nyedrak and Kentrul Thubten Lamsang Rinpoche, had also studied at Gaden Shartse Monastery in Tibet where they obtained Geshe Lharampa degrees before completing their studies at Gyutö Tantric College. Notably, Panchen Sonam Drakpa was also the Abbot of Gyutö Tantric College. Gedun Nyedrak went on to become the Chant Master (umze) and, later, the 72nd Abbot of Gaden Shartse Monastery, while Kentrul Thubten Lamsang Rinpoche brought the Dharma to the lay people of the Phari district of Tibet. The tremendous and virtuous work of Tsem Rinpoche’s previous lives, which include such illustrious names as Magadha Sangmo, a student of the historical Buddha, Mahasiddha Virupa, Thonmi Sambhota, King Trisong Detsen, Mahasiddha Naropa, Lotsawa Loden Sherab, Ra Lotsawa, Shakya Shri Bhadra, Butön Rinchen Drub, Sakya 2 Pandita and Qing Emperor Kangxi are clearly reflected in Tsem Rinpoche’s accomplishments in Malaysia, where he tirelessly taught vast numbers of lay communities in places where the Dharma had just begun to bloom. During his nine years in Gaden, Tsem Rinpoche was involved in extensive charitable works including building schools for refugee children in India, constructing dormitories and upgrading living conditions for the monastic community, and providing long-term assistance to the poor lay community of Mundgod. Through his constant practice of generosity with a deeply altruistic motivation, Tsem Rinpoche continued to sponsor Gaden’s work and activities while he was based in Malaysia, and tirelessly shared new and creative ways of bringing happiness and relief to people from all walks of life. On September 4th, 2019, Tsem Rinpoche concluded his earthly Dharmic activities and passed into parinirvana. Rinpoche remained in thukdam (clear light meditation) for two days, until the morning of September 6th, 2019. On September 29th, 2019 amidst numerous auspicious signs, Rinpoche’s kudung (holy body) was accorded the traditional rites and rituals befitting a true Dharma King. Upon completion of the extensive parinirvana rites, Rinpoche was found to have left behind hundreds of precious relic pills and signs relating to his next incarnation. The parpu or "first fruit" printings were sent to the great spiritual masters of the time shortly after the carving was complete. One of them reached the 13th Karmapa Dudul Dorje (1733/1734-1797/1798). It was this copy that was eventually reproduced in India at the order of H.H. the 16th Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje (1924-1981). Later protectors of the Derge Gonchen printery added texts including new translations by Situ, which he, out of his natural humility, had omitted to include in his own edition of the canon. These additional texts are found in later printings from the Derge blocks. The Tengyur is a collection of basic texts translated from Indic originals and ranging over the entire range of learning. Their chief characteristic is that all of them have been written by Indian authors. The catalog to this edition is highly regarded as a historical source for Tibet and the Derge principality. The edition which has been scanned here was prepared as a part of the funeral rites for H.H.

General introduction to the transmission of the Hevajra teachings In the following, I would like to provide an introduction to this study of the Hevajra teachings (and subsequent to that to the Path with Its Fruit teachings) that is accessible to both those who do read the Tibetan language and those who do not. I have therefore abstained in these two introductory chapters from using the regular Wylie transliteration of Tibetan names, and I have translated an abbreviated form of all titles of Tibetan works mentioned. I am sure that all names, which I have rendered here in an approximate phonetic transliteration, will be easily recognizable to the expert.     VÀI NÉT VỀ DÒNG TRUYỀN THỪA SAKYA Lịch sử của dòng Sakya bắt nguồn từ các vị trời giáng sinh từ cõi Tịnh Quang trong coi trời Sắc giới đến ngự tại các rặng núi tuyết của Tây Tạng vì lợi lạc của chúng sinh. Có mười thế hệ nối tiếp trước khi Đạo Sư Liên Hoa Sinh đến Tây Tạng. Vào thời điểm đó, các ngài được biết đến là Lha Rig. Sau tám thế hệ, do sự tranh cãi với vị lãnh đạo Yaksha, Lha Rig trở nên nổi tiếng là Khon, nghĩa là “tranh cãi” hay “xung đột”. Năm 750 sau Công nguyên, gia tộc Khon trở thành đệ tử của đức Liên Hoa Sinh và nhận các quán đảnh Vajrakila. Một người con trai trong gia tộc nhận giới xuất gia từ đức Shatirakshita ở [tu viện] Samye, trở thành một trong bảy dịch giả tăng sĩ đầu tiên của Tây Tạng. Trong mười ba thế hệ sau đó (750- 1073), gia tộc Khon trở thành cột trụ chính cho các giáo lý của truyền thống Cổ Mật ở tỉnh Tsang.
