■■All Network members are invited to appoint a representative to this working group to generate input into the debate around Horizon Europe at the EU level and domestically. The group draws upon the knowledge and experience of our members, as well as intelligence gathered by Science|Business, to create highly visible briefing documents. These report aims to contribute to public knowledge about the hottest R&I policy topics currently discussed and inform policymakers during the legislative passage of Horizon Europe.

■■In November 2016, Science|Business launched a new platform for policy discussions across the EU – outside of Brussels, that is – to improve healthcare systems through better data management and focus on patient outcomes. The group met twice in 2016: On November 8th in Paris (hosted by the Université Pierre et Marie Curie and EIT Health) and on December 16th in London (hosted by the University of Warwick Medical School). Three more events were organised in 2017: On April 5th in Lyon (hosted by BIOVISION), on May 22-23rd in Helsinki (hosted by the Aalto University and Tekes), on October 16th in Tallinn (hosted by the Estonian Presidency to the EU). The 2018 calendar will take us to , Barcelona and Amsterdam. The conferences are supported by a dedicated news service, with a monthly newsletter, at www.sciencebusiness.net/health.

■■A series of new EU initiatives could transform the business of science. Chief among these is the proposed European Open Science Cloud integrating labs across the EU. At the same time, the EU is proposing a build-up of new data infrastructure capacities, stronger international alliances, and further steps in open data access policies. Science|Business launched in April 2017 a new programme to learn about, share strategies, make recommendations and engage in policy dialogues on these topics.
