In the midst of this beauty stands the stately buildings constantly remind- ing one of her standard of high scholarship. The professors and students of the college work and play together, uniting their efforts into a symphony of achievement. Nowhere will one be able to find better harmony and friendship than in Cedarville College. The student at Cedarville who wishes to enter into other activities will find a sufficient number of them to keep him busy through- out the college year. M.CHISNEY, Cedarville College Office Cedarville, Ohio Dear Alumni: Forty-two years ago last September 19th, Cedarville Collere began its work. The faculty were Rev. David McKinney, D. D., president, Carrie M. Blair, B. S. in Ed,, Mathematics, Frank Dean, A. B., English, Belle Beazell, B. M., Head of the Department of Music, Rev. J. F. Morton, D. D., vice-peesident and Professor of Bible, andthe writer, Professor of Latin, Greek add Hebrew. Thirty-six students enrolled that first year. The college was conducted in a rented house, formerly owned by Rev. Hurh McMillan, D. D., who conducted an academy there one hundred years ago. The next year the college moved into "Old Main", then newly constructed. Faculty, students, and property have increased with the years. The faculty now numbers sixteen. The student attendance is one hundred and forty. The campus has over fifteen acres and upon it are four buildings. The alumni number over seven hundred. The endowment has grown from 320,000 to almost $250,000. The college is recognized for the training of teachers. Our alumni are in all vocations and in every part of the world. Cedarville College has grown from a rented building to a cor- poration now holding in property and money at least a capital investment of one half a million dollars. A campaign is on to increase the endowment to at least $500,000 by 1940. Cedarville College maintains the standard principles of Evangelical Christianity. It is true to the funda- mental faith. Never was there so fine an opportunity to rally to the upbuilding of a college so needed as Cedarville College is for the training of our youth to be capable, reliable men and women for the leadership in present day affairs. Its ivy-covered walls have sheltered many students P?. while they prepared themselves for the occupa- tions in the world. Cedarville College Library was built in 1905 from funds that were donated by Andrew Car- negie. Today the building houses both the vil- lage and the college libraries, the conservatory of music, the Seminary library, and the boarding club. 23 THE GYMNASIUM THE SCIENCE HALL The Alford Memorial Gymnasium was at one time a Reformed Presbyterian Church. It was later bought and given to the College for a gymnasium in memory of Mr. Alford. It is the center of athletic activities. The Science Hall is the newest building on the campus. For the person knowing nothing of science, her rooms are filled with queer appa- ratus, but it plays important parts in the lives of many students. 25 Soak Two THE PEOPLE 0 liuiteei WM. H. MILDRED BICKETT A.B., Mus. B. 35 COLLEGE 41 FRESHMAN CLASS HISTORY The freshmen survived initiation week only to be disgraced by the upper classmen at the annual tug- of-war at Willow Bend. We still claim that the upper classmen used that rotten rope for a purpose. Since that first "feed" at which many unbidden guests helped roast the wieners, we have thoroughly en- joyed many peaceful parties due to the new ruling that forbids the upper classmen to break up fresh- man feeds! Coach Ault will have many places to fill on his teams next year (which were vacated by graduating members) so we freshmen are hoping that some of our skilled athletes will have a chance to make a good showing. In addition to our contribution to athletics, we have two members singing with the "Harmonizers" and one touring with the Gospel Team. We are looking forward to another happy year at Cedarville. Your announcer is the spirit of the Junior class bringing to you the close of the third year of this broadcast. We are proud of the first year of our program although there was static at times — freshmen initia- tion and parties broken up by upper classmen. In spite of these air disturbances, however, we had many good times that still linger in our minds, namely the atrocities of freshmen week and the house-wrecking at Anderson's. Our director the first year was James Anderson who brought us on and off the air at just the right moments. In June of 1935, we signed off, a wiser and older group having contributed much to student activities at Cedarville College.
