Students at Aurora’s St. Joseph’s Catholic School were honoured with a luncheon last week after their successful efforts collecting new school supplies that will be stuffed into new school back- packs and distributed to children in need this fall. Known as the Kidpack Program, students collect- ed enough items to stuff 200 backpacks. Members of the team of the “Luke 4:18 Social Justice Group” are shown above, while two students who organized and followed through on the event are in the photo at right, Adam Colacitti, left, and Joey Ferguson. They were presented with the plaque during the luncheon. The school participated in the School Basics: Kidpacks program operated out of Windfall Clothing Service, Canada’s only new clothing bank. Windfall works in partnership with more than 90 social service agencies work- ing with people living in poverty. In addition to this project, students on the social justice group have also been active in the Terry Fox run, col- lecting food items for the Aurora Food Pantry, and fundraising activities for Share Life, St. Vincent de Thanks Paul Society and Rose of Sharon.
