APPLICATION FOR POSITION ON THE SNOW SPORTS NZ BOARD 2020 Details of Applicant Name: Laura Hedley Mailing 16 Hunt Place, Albert Town, Wanaka Address: Tel: Work Home Mobile: 0212265959 Email: [email protected] What is your governance experience and interest in snow sports? I have had an interest in snow sports for as long as I can remember. With both parents working in the ski industry here and in the USA, I have been raised with a passion for the sport. I completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing & Management) at Otago University between 2004-2008. Upon completion of my degree, I gained employment at Cardrona Alpine Resort, initially as a ski instructor but as the years went on, the roles I worked in diversified. I was involved with Events at Cardrona for a number of years, which included working on events from local level through to world cup level. I also worked with both Winter Games NZ (Snowboard Manager) and Burton (Venue Manager) on their international level events. Through this time, I gained a strong knowledge of the high- performance aspect of snow sports, but also the grass roots side of the sport in New Zealand. Following my roles within events, I moved my focus to Human Resources and currently work as the Head of People & Performance for Cardrona and Treble Cone. This includes the providing strategic direction for the workforce strategy as well as oversight of health & safety across both resorts. With my current role at Cardrona, I work as part of the SAANZ workforce committee reporting to the SAANZ executive, and currently represent Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA) on the immigration NZ/Business NZ operational reference group.
