  • AUSTRALIAN CRICKET SOCIETY 54Th Annual Report & Financial
AUSTRALIAN CRICKET SOCIETY 54th Annual Report & Financial Statements 2020~2021 to be presented at the Annual General Meeting of the Australian Cricket Society Incorporated on Friday, 20th August 2021 Australian Cricket Society Inc. Established 1967 President's Report It is my pleasure to report on another highly successful and buoyant year for the Australian Cricket Society in 2020-21. Despite all the challenges of lockdowns and the nation’s roller- coasting battle with Covid-19 we have been able to complete a dozen functions in the last 12 months, albeit the majority by ‘Zoom’, allowing us to make another substantial donation to our gold charity partners the Ponting Foundation. Among the Zoom guests were Test offspinner Ashley Mallett, authors David Frith, Dan Liebke, Craig Dodson and Wes Cusworth and leading Australian women Annabel Sutherland and Rachael Haynes. We were also pleased to hold our annual dinner, which Covid- 19 had precluded from being held in 2020. Cricket’s fraternity and friendships were never more important than in July when our dinner guest, Test fast bowler James Pattinson was in touch on the Wednesday, telling me that a personal issue precluded his attendance for the Friday. There was just 48 hours to go and Victoria’s head coach Chris Rogers stepped in. Chris Rogers demonstrating how high the Master should be raising his arm when bowling! Pic by Johann Jayasinha - SNNI The ultimate insider in Australian cricket, a champion player and an even better bloke, Chris spoke for an hour about the Vics and the Aussies and also about his memorable 2013 Ashes trip when he broke through for the first of his five Test centuries at Durham.

  • Cricket Memorabilia Society Postal Auction Closing at Noon 10
CRICKET MEMORABILIA SOCIETY POSTAL AUCTION CLOSING AT NOON 10th JULY 2020 Conditions of Postal Sale The CMS reserves the right to refuse items which are damaged or unsuitable, or we have doubts about authenticity. Reserves can be placed on lots but must be agreed with the CMS. They should reflect realistic values/expectations and not be the “highest price” expected. The CMS will take 7% of the price realised, the vendor 93% which will normally be paid no later than 6 weeks after the auction. The CMS will undertake to advertise the memorabilia for auction on its website no later than 3 weeks prior to the closing date of the auction. Bids will only be accepted from CMS members. Postal bids must be in writing or e-mail by the closing date and time shown above. Generally, no item will be sold below 10% of the lower estimate without reference to the vendor.. Thus, an item with a £10-15 estimate can be sold for £9, but not £8, without approval. The incremental scale for the acceptance of bids is as follows: £2 increments up to £20, then £20/22/25/28/30 up to £50, then £5 increments to £100 and £10 increments above that. So, if there are two postal bids at £25 and £30, the item will go to the higher bidder at £28. Should there be two identical bids, the first received will win. Bids submitted between increments will be accepted, thus a £52 bid will not be rounded either up or down. Items will be sent to successful postal bidders the week after the auction and will be sent by the cheapest rate commensurate with the value and size of the item.

We also pay tribute to Richie Benaud's role in cricket, as he undertakes his last Test series of ball-by-ball commentary and wish him luck in his future endeavours in the cricket media. Ross Perry presents an analysis of Australia's fi rst 16-Test winning streak from October 1999 to March 2001. A future issue of The Yorker will cover their second run of 16 Test victories. We note that part two of Trevor Ruddell's article detailing the development of the rules of Australian football has been delayed until our next issue, which is due around Easter 2010. • 2012 a Record to Commemorate the Seventy–Fifth Anniversary of the Club
WOODVILLE DISTRICT CRICKET CLUB 1937 – 2012 A RECORD TO COMMEMORATE THE SEVENTY–FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CLUB INTRODUCTION In September, 2012 the Woodville District Cricket Club celebrated its seventy-fifth anniversary. This publication includes references to the early Woodville Cricket Club first formed in 1874, and a history relating to the establishment of the Club in 1937 and its progress to admission to the South Australian Cricket Association District Cricket Competition. I have drawn on two publications that I have previously produced: - June, 1976 titled “ History of the Woodville District Cricket Club Inc. 1937-1976 “ prepared in conjunction with the centenary celebrations of the City of Woodville (1), and - September, 2009 - “Woodville District Cricket Club- Performances, Statistics and Other Club Records: 1937/1938 - 2008/2009” (2). The 75th anniversary has provided the opportunity to consolidate Club records. As a consequence this publication includes a comprehensive record of office holders, the significant achievements and performances of players along with other statistical details of Club performances. Parts II-VI includes these records and represents a collection established, added to, and maintained since 1973. The records and statistics do track the path of history. In some instances the date of creating the particular record is shown. What is produced in relation to player performances and State representation do not include the separate State and A Grade One Day and Twenty20 competitions. The contribution that many individuals have made to the establishment and performance of the Club, and its enduring existence over its 75 year history can, to some extent, be measured by what is recorded in the various parts of this publication.

I can remember coming across what he had recorded and that I had shown particular interest in his very early recollections and of course his great cricket stories. While he had recorded a great deal of information he never quite got to finish the story. After Dad’s passing I thought that it would be great to complete his story and to make it available to those who would like to know more about him, and also to family and friends who shared in his journey along the way. I have added more from Christmas letters he had written plus my own memories from over the last fifteen to twenty years. Fortunately, Ian was very meticulous in keeping records and information. Ian McGregor Stuart was known to many of his friends simply as “Stuey”.
