I Will Help Najib Maintain Public Order - Nur Jazlan Bernama July 28, 2015 KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 (Bernama) -- Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed, who was named deputy home minister in a Cabinet reshuffle today, says he will use the platform to help maintain public order and security. Thanking Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for entrusting him with the portfolio, he said: "I promise to help him maintain public order and enhance the people's trust towards the government. I will also help (the new Deputy Prime Minister) Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. "At the same time, I will resign as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC)," he said in a statement, following the reshuffle. According to him, all the proceedings, including those scheduled in August pertaining to 1Malaysia Development Berhad, would be postponed until the new PAC line-up was appointed at the next Parliamentary session. The member of parliament for Pulai took up the post of deputy home minister, which was previously held by Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar. The Cabinet reshuffle announced by Najib in Putrajaya, among others, saw Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin dropped as deputy prime minister and education minister. Meanwhile, Machang MP Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, who was named rural and regional development deputy minister, described it as a huge trust which he would try his best to fulfill. "I will help the prime minister and the Barisan Nasional Government in its efforts to transform the rural areas, so they are not left behind when the country achieves its developed nation status by 2020," he said when contacted by Bernama today.

But if you can’t, have you ever thought of the consequences?” he asked. MCA secretary-general Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan (pic ) has denied that the party has abandoned former president Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik, saying it was torn between qing (familial ties) and li (proper decorum). “It is the greatest strength and also weakness of the Chinese people,” said Ong in his speech during MCA annual general meeting on Sunday. Ong said on Oct 3, Dr Ling had openly called for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to step down, which shocked the party. “Tun Ling has contributed to the Chinese community for decades. Do you think we have no qing with him?” he said. MCA, said Ong, owed Najib li as prime ministers had traditionally opened all of MCA annual general meetings since the days of Tun Tan Siew Sin and was a political partner since independence. Najib was also present to open this year’s meeting before rushing to Jakarta for a discussion with Indonesian President Joko Widodo in the afternoon. Ong pointed out that Najib was a democratically elected Prime Minister and deserved respect and support. As for Dr Ling, Ong said he deserved the party’s respect as a veteran leader. “That is why we did not criticise him. We merely said his statement was not the party’s stance,” he said. Media ownership is understood to be affecting objectivity in media coverage, given its influence on the sources to be used, as well as how issues are portrayed. This content analysis study used a census sample of the first 14 days after its tabling. To differentiate the coverage between these two mainstream news provider, the researcher studied the sources used by both news providers, frames utilized in the coverage of the budget using Semetko and Valkenberg’s (2000) generic news frame, as well as the news slants that are apparent in both news providers’ reporting of the budget as basis for comparison. Mohamad, KJ and Shaziman to defend Rantau, Rembau and Tampin seats BERNAMA 23/04/2018 SEREMBAN, April 23 (Bernama) -- Negeri Sembilan Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan will defend his Rantau state seat, which he has held since 2004, in the 14th General Election (GE14). When announcing the Negeri Sembilan BN's list of candidates for the GE14 at his official residence here today, Mohamad also announced that BN Youth chairman Khairy Jamaluddin and State UMNO Liaison Committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri Shaziman Abu Mansor would also defend their respective Rembau dan Tampin parliamentary seats. Khairy has held the Rembau for two terms since 2008, while Shaziman has held Tampin seat for four terms since 1999. Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia Datuk Seri Hasan Malek was also listed to defend his Kuala Pilah parliamentary seat, which he has held since 2004. Also in the list was 41-year-old motivational speaker, Syamsul Amri Ismail, or popularly known as Syamsul Debat, named as BN's candidate to contest Sikamat state seat. Acting chairman of Land Public Transport Commission, who is UMNO chief for Port Dickson (formerly Telok Kemang) Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, however, was dropped from the candidates' list. CPPS Policy Factsheet on Najib’s First 100 Days in Office, July 2009 C P P S P O L I C Y F A C T S H E E T Najib’s 100 Days in Office CPPS is pleased to bring to you its Policy Factsheet on Dato’ Seri Najib’s first 100 days in office as Prime Minister. In this factsheet, we will look at the accomplishments and shortcomings of his administration thus far and explore its effects on Malaysia. BACKGROUND In April 2009, Abdullah Badawi stepped down as Prime Minister after facing much pressure to take responsibility for Barison Nasional‟s worst election showing in four decades. In his place, then Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak was sworn into office on 3 April 2009. Upon assuming office, besides the challenges left over from Badawi’s administration and the economic downturn, Dato‟ Seri Najib faced a lack of credibility and public faith in him due to allegations of corruption and suspected involvement in recent scandals. Najib completed 100 days in office as Prime Minister on 11 July 2009. By 1 July 2009, according to a poll by the Merdeka Center for Opinion Research, his approval ratings increased from 45% to 65%. While most of his policies have been implemented, some remain unsatisfactorily so and a few have yet an established timeline for their implementation. Thus in reviewing Najib‟s performance so far, there is still room for improvement. PROMISES AND POLICIES During his maiden speech, Najib underlined the following as the main goals of his administration: Re-establishing economic stability Tackling poverty Restructuring society Re-energizing a passion for public service Enhancing the confidence of citizens in those entrusted with maintaining peace, law and order In this speech, Najib further underlined the goal of attracting more investments, bringing in more professionals and technology as well as strengthening the competitiveness of the sector.
