As this spark, we each decided a long time ago to begin a great journey or adventure that might be called planetary sentience. To be sentient, as Michael defines it, is to have consciousness that is complex enough to be capable of purely intellectual function, such as self-awareness and long-range planning. To be a planetary sentient is to play a particular game the universe offers that involves coming to the physical plane of a planet such as earth, inhabiting a life form such as the human form, and experiencing what that planet and life form have to offer. When we’re done, we ascend through the higher planes until we’re fully reabsorbed back into the Tao. That whole loop, from the Tao, through the physical plane and each of the six higher planes, and back to the Tao is called a grand cycle. In order to do a grand cycle, we need a vehicle, something that will anchor us into the seven-plane dimensional universe and carry us along this journey. That vehicle is called the essence, or soul. A “grand cycle” is defined as an “experience that begins when one’s essence [aspect] is cast from the Tao/Source/All That Is. It includes physical-plane incarnations and subsequent progression through the higher planes. It is complete when essence is fully reabsorbed back into the Tao [or integrated back into your True Energetic Self]. When you return to the Tao, you have completed that cycle with the physical plane. You can remain there indefinitely or begin another cycle. Readers may provide it freely and privately to other students of the Michael Teachings. It is not suitable as an introduction to the MT, or for people who are not yet mature students. SOME HISTORY In 1973, a few spiritual seekers in the San Francisco Bay area made contact through the Ouija board with a source of information that came to be known as “Michael.” In this document this will be referred to as The Original Michael Group – TOMG for short. The messages, amounting to hundreds, perhaps thousands, of pages, were handwritten or tape recorded at the time of reception. They were then typewritten, and photocopies were distributed to the members of the group. The group grew in number over the next two years until the summer of 1975, when the large group ceased their regular meetings. Afterwards, a core group of friends continued to meet occasionally to receive messages, and some private sessions were held until about 1983. This document is the actual, although incomplete, story of that group. A fictionalized account of TOMG was published in 1979 (in hardcover edition) by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro in her book, Messages from Michael (hereinafter abbreviated to “MFM”).
