Road To The 24th AFL Championship Game The Surprise Saguaros and Scottsdale Scorpions arrived at today’s championship game in similar fashions, both clinching their respective divisions during the final week of the season. The Saguaros had a more decided advantage, winning the West Division by five games over the Glendale Desert Dogs. Scottsdale’s division title was not clinched until this past Wednesday when the second-place Salt River Rafters lost to the Mesa Solar Sox. The Scorps finished the season with a 1.5 game advantage over the Rafters. The (Scottsdale) Scorpions and (Surprise) Saguaros meet in the title game for the second time. In 1996, the Scorpions swept the first two games of the three-game title series against the (Mesa) Saguaros. The Saguaros are 3-4 all-time in AFL champ- game appearances; the Scorpions are 2-3.
