2.22.22.2 Brief Information about the Project Kusumdaha alias Bagula Brick Soil Quarry, over an area of 2.28 Acres (0.92 Ha) is situated in Khata No. 22, Plot No. 207, 208, 209, 210, 211, 212, 213, 214, 219, 220, 231, 232, 233, 234 in Village Kusumdaha alias Bagula, Thana Saraidhela , District Dhanbad, Jharkhand. The existing project has been proposed for mining 1450 Cu.m per Year /4.833 Cu.m per day of Soil by opencast Manual method. The mine lease area is 2.28 Acres (0.92 Ha). The expected life of the mine is 6 years. Total water requirement is about 4.00 KLD (0.50KLD Domestic Uses) + 2.00 KLD (Casting of Bricks) + 0.50 KLD (Dust Suppression) & 1.00 KLD (Green Belt) from nearby water sources.

2.3 Need for the Project and Its Importance to the CounCountrytry or Region Bricks are used in almost any type of construction activity. Thus in correct times, where the focus of the government is on improvement of basic infrastructure, both in rural and urban areas, there is a constant need for ensuring regular supply of these inputs. The production of brick clay will benefit to the state in the form of royalty. Apart from this project operation will provide employment directly and indirectly to the people residing in vicinity, thus improving the Socio-economic status of the area.

2.42.42.4 DemandsDemands- ---SupplySupply Gap Brick clay has become a very important mineral for the manufacturing of Bricks which contributes to the expansion of infrastructure in the society. With the increase of urbanization the demand for bricks is growing in infrastructure sector in our country. Individual and Private companies are increasingly demanding brick for construction

6 BRICK CLAY MINE PROJECT IN VILLAGE KUSUMDAHA ALIAS BAGULA OVER AN AREAAREA---- 2.282.282.28 AAACRESACRES OR 0.92 HA IN, P.SP.SP.S-P.S --- SARAIDHELA, DISTRICT ––– DHANBADDHANBAD,, JHARKHAND. APPLICANT: M/s J. R. P. BRICKS PRE FEASIBILITY REPORT purposes and this has immense pressure on brick clay resources. Further, there are not many large scale soil deposits in the, and thus the focus is to systematically develop known small and medium size deposits. This clearly shows the gap between the demand and supply of basic raw materials. To minimize this gap lessee has initiated a step to produce these minerals. 2.5 Imports vs. Indigenous Production Development needs will be met only through indigenous excavated material against the high cost of imported material.

2.6 ExpExpExport Exp ort Possibility There is no proposal to export the soil as there is huge gap in demand and production.

2.7 Domestic/ Export Markets Domestic Market Construction companies and local vendors in the nearby town and cities.

Export Market The proposed mining activity is for indigenous consumption only for real estate, road making etc. 2.8 Employment Generation The proposed mining activity will provide direct employment to about 25 workers. The workers will be hired mostly from the nearby villages.

3. PROJECT DESCRIPTION 3.13.13.1 Type of Project Including Interlinked and InterdepeInterdependentndent Projects, If Any. The mine is over an area of 2.28 Acres (0.92 Ha). The proposed production is 1450 Cu.m per Year /4.833 Cu.m per day of Soil. This is an independent mining project and there are no interlinked projects involved. This mining project falls under Category “B“B----2”2” Project or activity 1(a) as per EIA Notifications 2006, 2009 and 2011.
