Celebrating over 100 years of outstanding design, floral heritage and tea drinking.
1900sThe late part ofRegency the 19th century sawBlue a revival of interest in the classic designs of the Regency era. It became fashionable to combine different patterns, colours and gold to create sumptuous designs. Alternate panels of cobalt blue and white backgrounds, filled with deep maroon daisies and gold accents complete the design.
Many decorative styles including Rococo remained popular into the 20th 1910scentury. A richDuchess black border with swags of yellow and lavender roses, set among soft green leaves and interspersed with asters are linked by delicate golden daisies.
Fashion trends of the ‘roaring twenties’ have inspired this vibrantly chic pattern with its 1920snatural paintings Spring of brightly coloured Meadow flowers. The sprays of columbines, pink roses, bluebells, primroses, forget-me-nots, buttercups and daises, scattered across each shape, emphasise the simplicity and freshness of the design.
Inspired by the Art Deco era, yet fresh and modern for the 21st century. 1930sVibrant mint greenMint is typical Decoof the jewel like colours of the decade. The profusion of stylised flowers in soft pink and yellow adds a graceful, feminine contrast, whilst a single flower decorating one of the white panels on the plate, adds a contemporary twist.
In ceramics, a chintz pattern is one where the whole surface of a shape is totally covered by 1940sthe decoration English to create a design thatChintz celebrates colour and image. Pretty pink roses, dainty forget-me-nots and green leaves on a crackle effect background create the epitome of the Royal Albert floral tradition.
Style trends were inspired by atomic structures, ‘spiky’ architecture 1950sand crystals andFestival these elements are reflected in this design. Harebells, dandelion seed-heads and ferns are delicately drawn to emphasise the natural shape of each form and are grouped into a single floral spray that dominates the pattern, finished with a vivid blue boarder.
1960sDesigned by HaroldGolden Holdcroft inRoses 1962, Old Country Roses has become not just the most loved of all Royal Albert designs, but is an icon of fine English tea ware. In celebratory style, rose sprays have been recreated in luxurious gold and matched with a warm pink background to symbolise the rich red tones of the original design.
By the beginning of the 1970s, the psychedelic colours of the swinging 1970ssixties had tempered Poppy and softer tones and more romantic and feminine styles re-emerged in fashion and interior design. A natural interpretation of the ever popular flower in bright coral and yellow, with its detail of trailing foliage, brings to mind fields of poppies blowing softly in the wind.
The iconic rose flower takes centre stage with an all-over design featuring a full bloom and single 1980sbud. The soft stylingRose of the flowersBlush on a pastel pink and cream background also reflects the era’s more subtle interior design trends, and recalls the chintz patterns popular in earlier decades.

Load the washer so that pieces do not touch each other, to avoid the risk of scratching. Do not overload.
Wash at 65°C maximum – the “short wash” or “china and crystal” cycle is sufficient for normal cleaning.
As soon as the wash water has drained away, there should be an immediate rinse cycle to flush away deposits of detergent which will form a film if allowed to dry.
In dishwashers, we recommend the use of Finish Powerball All in 1 and Cussons Morning Fresh Complete Tabs, follow the manufacturers instructions on the appropriate quantity of detergent to be used.
CRYSTALLINE Hand wash pieces separately in warm soapy water.
