ESEA has 3 ongoing EE projects

Prioritizes area from the Swedish Energy Agency with Intense focus on SME's

Aim: to reach targets of 20% energy savings by 2020 and strengthen Swedish companies in international competition Challenge: to motivate to action when energy prices are so low Network with focus on EE in municipal residential buildings Self financed network. Cost 7000 SEK per year

Meetings four times a year, half a day, usually at. 9-12 with subsequent joint lunch.

The aim:  through meetings in an open atmosphere around different themes to contribute with good examples and "worst case" and learn from others.  to get inspired, to compare approaches with other players, and also increase the contacts in the field.  Seek, develop and evaluate new solutions and find common approaches.  To stimulate, develop and follow up ideas through workshops or other methodologies

The agenda is set together from time to time. Energy Efficient companies in middle East Sweden

The project will help small and medium-sized enterprises in East Central Sweden to increases its competitiveness by improving energy efficiency and cooperation between key players in the field.  Project duration Septt 2015 –Sept 2018  Funded by the Swedish Agency for Economical and regional Growth through the European regional Develpment fund

Activities:  Developing cooperation and platforms for dialogue and capacity building, a meeting place between companies, suppliers, researchers, innovators, government agencies and others.  Energy and Climate Advisor in collaboration with Environmental Inspectors in outreaching advisory activities at companies  In a business consulting context include that energy efficient companies often have competitive advantages including lower costs and better image.  Developing methods to reach the business management with the knowledge that Energy Smart = Business Smart. Network for energy efficiency in SME´s

The aim is to support the transition to a low carbon economy and Increase the share of renewable energy and promote energy efficiency in companies with an energy consuption exeeding 1GWh.

The goal: 10% reduction in energy to 2023.

Activities: Network of 8-10 other companies toghether with an enenergiexpert. Start with an energy audit, set goals, meet for 3-4 times per year for the experience exchange, education and inspiration Waste management in Sweden

The greatest environmental benefit is given when both material and energy recovery increases. Both methods are effective instruments for reducing landfill and both methods produce materials and energy

The circular economy is a model that decouples economic growth from resource constraints by reducing reliance on virgin materials. Instead, the goal is to keep materials functioning at their highest utility at all times. This means that something that is seen as waste or a bi-product by one organization or user, can be used as raw material or product by someone else. Challenges for the industry • Increased cost for raw material, waste management and energy. • The environmental performance of the products is becoming more important.

Expanded systemslimits – new opportunites for solutions The key role of municipalities Purpose

Model to map circular business opportunities in smaller municipalities. Analyze the potential for increased local resource utilization in regards to material, energy and infrastructure in a municipality.

Nuclear power phased out  Need to increase investments in renewable energy Sweden's total solar power electricity production divided per energy source in 2015 Solar power in Northern regions

Too little sunshine? About 2000 sun hours per year Too cold? Lower temperatures give higher efficience!

The solar radiation is instantaneously up to 1000 W of power per square meter and contains more than 1000 kWh of energy per square meter per year in Sweden. Suggested strategy for the development of solar electricity by 2040 The project Future solar power in East Central Sweden  Project duration Okt 2015 –Sept 2018  Funded by the Swedish Agency for Economical and regional Growth through the European regional Develpment fund

The project aims to significantly increase the rate of investment in solar energy in small and medium-sized enterprises in East Central Sweden and thus contribute to reduced carbon emissions and increased competitiveness of the economy. Project objectives are: • Promoting investment through various funding schemes • To increase knowledge of solar electricity among all relevant actors. • To build a network around solar power in East Central Sweden. Project activities Investigation of the use of solar maps - By whom are they used? - How do municipalities have use of solar map and their opportunities for development? - Suggestions for improvements? - Is there a need to further promote solar map? Identify local processing of building permits for solar cells - in order to show any differences in order to facilitate planning permission management for future solar electricity producers.

 Visualization of solar electricity ocn website http://framtidenssolel.se  Seminar series for small and medium-sized property owners  Solar Days. Current policy instruments to accelerate development  The tax on solar electricity reduced from July next year  Government alocated funding for energy storage

BEAST promotion of EV´s

Regular meetings every month since nov 2014 with themes based on needs

Seminar and Workshops to increase knowledge and help different actors to take action • Current situation and development of electric cars • Charging standards and technique • Economy service maintenance paying systems laws and regulations • Provision of contacts for establishing chargingspots and identifying business models

• In 2020 the forecast is 150 000 electric cars

• In 2030 approx. 2 miljon

• Funding for charging infrastructure 1,9 billion Kr from may 2015 until 2018 • Green car super premium, renewed pot of money (40.000 per car) and awaiting Bonus Malus System Main Barriers

• Lack of knowledge and prejudices (range, price, fear of new technology) • Lack of infrastructure

• Uncertain political situation, lack of long- term policies and Incentives, awaiting a new tax system Bonus-Malus Positive energy in the municipalities

• Filling stations for HVO are planned in several municipalities, eg and • Several municipalities drive electric cars. Mjölby has purchased 11 electric cars and set up charging stations for its own operation • Several municipalities have put up charging stations for public use (Ödeshög, Vadstena , Atvidaberg and Valdemarsvik), and tree more have plans for public charging stations (Motala, Kinda and Ydre) • Tekniska Verken are putting up 136 charging stations throughout the region Success Factors

Many prejudices and ignorance removed Activities that have reached out to many stakeholders Good timing with national funding for Charging infrastructure Thank you for listening
