For some of you, this brings back memories of days at Georgia Tech, and for others, this may be your first time to visit our 400-acre campus in the heart of Atlanta. We’re delighted that you could join us today. • Today we would like to recognize and thank Hank and Margaret McCamish for their generosity and for their vision for the future. While Georgia Tech has a national reputation for academic excellence, much of the college experience occurs outside of the classroom. Our 21,000 students enjoy resources and facilities to learn and grow, in large part thanks to the people who are committed to giving back to the Institute. • This year we celebrated Tech’s 125th anniversary. For more than a century, Tech has been preparing graduates not only for outstanding careers, but for leadership in the communities where they live and work. • Georgia Tech has more than 350 student athletes who compete in17 intercollegiate varsity sports.     July 24, 2017 Georgia Tech’s Faculty/Staff Newspaper • Vol. 42, No. 15 • whistle.gatech.edu Library to Begin Next Phase of Construction RACHAEL POCKLINGTON INSTITUTE COMMUNICATIONS The Price Gilbert and Crosland Tower renewal project, known on campus as Library Next, will begin its first major phase of construction in late July. This phase will focus on the Crosland Tower renovation and includes the removal of the connecting bridge, stairs, and walkways between the two library buildings. Construction on Crosland Tower is expected to finish in fall 2018, at which time Crosland Tower will reopen and function as the main library while Price Gilbert undergoes its renovation. The entire Library renewal project is scheduled to be completed and fully open in early 2020. This month, construction fencing will be in place for the safety of the Georgia Tech community, and wayfinding signage will be installed at appropriate locations around the construction site.
