We persevered through a pandemic and we could not have done it without the unwavering commitment from our Sport Management faculty and staff, the understanding and flexibility of our students, the guidance from Falk College and Syracuse University leadership, and the loyal support of our alumni and advisory council members. So many of our events, trips, conferences, presentations, lectures and internships were canceled or cut short, including senior Capstones, graduate practicums, Los Angeles Immersion, Syracuse Sport Business Conference, Berlin Sport Analytics Faculty adapt from classroom instruction to online teaching Undergraduate director Dr. Gina Pauline dents both online and in person. Think about it, 20 years from now, we will look back on this remotely. It was a juggling act for sure! We all came out stronger in the end year and say, “Remember when you were quarantined at home for months and I’m proud of my family, our students and everyone in the department and everything was shut down due to a global pandemic?” Everyone will who worked together in these difficult times. -

HOFSTRA BOBBY CASEY RYAN TIERNEY RILEY FORTE 2021 RECORD BOOK KEEGAN SANTOS BRIAN HERBER KEEGAN SANTOS MICHAEL ALTMANN Harry Royle-Vincent Sombrotto Men’s Lacrosse Locker Room The Hofstra men’s lacrosse program unveiled its new Harry Royle-Vincent Sombrotto men’s lacrosse locker room in January 2020. The locker room renovation was made possible via a substantial leadership gift from James C. Metzger ’83. The renovation included the installation of 48 new lockers, a remodel of the bathroom and shower area, and new carpeting and flooring. Hollman, Inc., a leading manufacturer of collegiate lockers, designed and installed the new custom lockers, constructed specifically for use with lacrosse as they feature space to hold multiple helmets, sticks and are equipped with a phone charging station and cushions for comfort. Milburn Flooring oversaw the installation of the new flooring. In addition to his profound gift, Metzger also led a matching gift campaign for alumni of the program to have one of the lockers named in their honor. Each locker is named in honor of a Pride men’s lacrosse alumnus and Metzger matched each gift for all 48 lockers. Notes from the Chapter Chair
RETIRED PUBLIC EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION, INC. CENTRAL NEW YORK CHAPTER NEWS & NOTES APRIL, 2019 NOTES FROM THE CHAPTER CHAIR If you missed our Holiday Party on December 3RD, you missed a good time. Over 100 in attendance, great guitar music and singing by Mohawk Valley Chapter member, LINDA LADUC and lots of giveaways. I want to thank our Steering Commit- tee for all of their help in preparing for this event and for their extensive help during the party itself. We couldn’t have done this without all of their help and help from members JUDY BARTON, TERI RISLEY, and Mohawk Valley Chap- ter member, PAT JORDAN for their help in selling raffle tickets. Thank you, everyone! Approximately 15 pounds of travel size personal toiletries were collected for FRANCIS HOUSE, a home in Syracuse for the terminally ill. We also collected about five pounds of regular sized toiletries which were given to VERA HOUSE, which, in part, is a shelter for those suffering from domestic violence. We also collected 30 pairs of glasses which will be donated so new glasses can be made for those who can’t oth- erwise afford them. Each meeting we have donation jars on the tables. December is usually a food pantry and this year we collected $241 and distributed a matching amount to each food pantry – ST. LUCY’S (Onondaga County), CALVARY FOOD PANTRY (Cayuga County), FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH (Oswego County) and PREBLE CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH (upper Cortland County). Several of these food pan- tries are supported exclusively by donations. Thank you for your donations! Our 50/50 raffle of $121 was won by MICHAELE WENDELL. -
