Resumo Holdefer DR, Garcia FRM. 2015. Análise faunística de cerambicídeos (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae) em floresta subtropical úmida brasileira. Entomotropica 30(13): 118-134. O trabalho objetivou caracterizar a assembleia de cerambicídeos presente em fragmento de Floresta Subtropical Úmida do sul brasileiro, através de análise faunística, e dos índices de diversidade. Também comparar a eficiência de amostragem dos modelos de armadilha Malaise e armadilha atrativa. No fragmento as armadilhas foram distribuídas na área central e de borda, entre outubro 2005/outubro 2006. Amostrou-se 63 espécies distribuídas em Cerambycinae (S = 28) e Lamiinae (S= 35). Verificou-se a presença de 37 espécies raras, pouco frequentes, acidentais e não dominantes e quatro predominantes: Nyssodrysina lignaria, Eurysthea lacordairei, Chydarteres dimidiatus dimidiatus e Batus hirticornis. A Malaise amostrou maior riqueza, enquanto a atrativa foi mais equitativa. A assembleia de cerambicídeos, através do grande número de espécies raras, baixa constância e dominância, apresentou-se rica e diversa dentro do fragmento em sucessão. -

CHAPTER 3 CHATTAHOOCHEE-OCONEE NATIONAL FOREST THREATENED AND ENDANGERED PLANT SPECIES Green Pitcher Plant (Sarracenia oreophila) Affected Environment The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) listed the green pitcher plant (Sarracenia oreophila) as an endangered species on September 21, 1979. Much of the following is taken from the 1994 revision of the Recovery Plan (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service 1994) written for the species. The green pitcher plant is restricted to sites in the Cumberland Plateau and Ridge and Valley Provinces in northeast Alabama, and to the Blue Ridge Province in Georgia and North Carolina. Only 35 natural populations of this species are known to be extant in Alabama (32), Georgia (1), and southwest North Carolina (2). Habitat for the plant is variable, and consists of both moist upland areas, many of which are described as seepage bogs, as well as boggy, sandy stream edges (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service 1994). Historical Sarracenia oreophila populations have been destroyed by residential development and clearing and disruption of the hydrological regimes for agriculture, silviculture and industrial use. Flooding of sites through construction of reservoirs, collection of plants and cattle grazing are also cited as reasons sites have been destroyed. All of these activities continue to be threats to extant populations of the green pitcher plant. Plant succession and woody encroachment in green pitcher plant bogs also threaten the bog habitat where this species occurs (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service 1994). This pitcher plant is not known to naturally occur on National Forest lands in the analysis area. However, the Chattahoochee National Forest has one population which was established, with the help of the Georgia Natural Heritage Program and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, using propagated material from plants occurring only a few miles away on Nature Conservancy property. -
Cerambycidae (Coleoptera) Do Estado Do Maranhão, Brasil

GALILEO 3 FRANCISCO LIMEIRA-DE-OLIVEIRA ABSTRACT In this contribution 84 species are recorded to Maranhão State: one Prioninae, one Dis- teniinae, 49 Cerambycinae and 33 Lamiinae. The total number of species recorded to the state is now 367. Nine new species are described in Cerambycinae: Chlorida inexpectata sp. nov. (Bothriospilini); Jupoata germana sp. nov. (Cerambycini); Eburodacrys separatus sp. nov. and Eburodacrys cincora sp. nov. (Eburiini); Ectenessa affinis sp. nov. (Ectenessini); Minibidion bicolor sp. nov. (Ibidionini, Tropidiina); Compsibidion maculatum sp. nov. and Compsibidion ytu sp. nov. (Ibidionini,Ibidionina); Ideratus beatus sp. nov. (Ideratini). Three species are described in Lamiinae: Aerenea gibba sp. nov. (Compsosomatini); Mima- syngenes barbozai sp. nov. (Desmiphorini); Cacostola exilis sp. nov. (Onciderini). Color variation was observed in Adesmus paradiana Galileo & Martins, 2004. Corrigenda of Pi- ruana pulchra Martins et al., 2009 to Piruauna pulchra (Desmiphorini). No presente trabalho é apresentada uma lista de 1328 espécies de insetos observadas no oeste do Estado de Santa Catarina nas últimas oito décadas, sendo que esta riqueza de espécies equivale a 1,47% do total de espécies registradas no Brasil. Foram compilados, em diversas coleções, os registros de exemplares coletados por F. Plaumann, foi consultada a literatura, e, além disso, foram feitas observações pessoais. Das 17 ordens registradas, Hymenoptera foi a que apresentou a maior riqueza de espécies, com 382, sendo que, a família Formicidae representou 48,42% das espécies desta ordem e Apidae 19%. Em Coleoptera foram registradas 230 espécies, com Curculionidae representando 22,60% desse total e Coccinelidae 19,13%. Na ordem Lepidoptera foram 199 espécies, a família Nymphalidae representou 37,18% dessa riqueza e Saturniidae 22,11%. total registrado para o Brasil, mas, trata-se de uma etapa importante para ampliar os conhecimentos sobre a distribuição geográfica destas espécies. Southern Forest Resource Assessment Draft Report www.srs.fs.fed.us/sustain AQUA-5: Aquatic Animals and their Habitats Jim Herrig and Peggy Shute Southern Region, USDA Forest Service and Tennessee Valley Authority respectively What are the history, status, and likely future of aquatic habitats and species in the South? 1 Key Findings • Sediments, introduced into aquatic systems above natural, background levels, have adverse impacts on animal species in all seven taxonomic groups considered in this Assessment • The aquatic communities of southeastern United States are globally significant. Many are very narrow endemics and subject to extinction from relatively minor habitat losses. • Habitat barriers created by dams on major rivers have produced isolated populations of many southern aquatic animals. Some species occupy so little of their former range that they are vulnerable to extinction as described for the narrowly endemic species. Some others, mainly larger river animals, have become extinct because of habitat alterations. Current programs have improved conditions in some of the tailwaters. • In some areas aquatic habitats have improved and reintroduction or augmentation supported by captive breeding programs may improve the recovery potential for some species. • Some groundwater systems are being dewatered, threatening unique aquatic communities. Careful aquifer management will be necessary for these aquatic communities. • Certain aquatic species (for example, the flatwoods salamander) require ephemeral ponds to complete their life cycles. Restoration and protection of ephemeral ponds is essential to the conservation of these animals. • Gaps in our scientific knowledge about southern aquatic species are monumental. Research of many types is urgently needed. • In the South, much of the habitat for rare aquatic species is not controlled by Federal or State governments.
