Sigma Gamma Rho was founded on November 12, 1922 on the campus of in Indianapolis, by seven educators who wanted to promote high ideals of scholarship, leadership, sisterhood, and an unyielding commitment to "Greater Service, Greater Progess" toward all humankind The extent of 's diversity is reflected in the fact that their membership and activities are not restricted by any race, creed nationality, or religion They are the smallest of all NPHC sororities, but one of the largest community service organizations in the country. Because of their small size and invitation-only membership, the ladies of Sigma Gamma Rho are known for their close-knit sisterhood. The Omicron Xi Chapter of SGRHO was chartered at Rhodes in the fall semester on October 3, 1998. Since chartered they have sponsered events that have raised money for Project Reassurance(Hefer Project), Memphis Family Shelter, March of Dimes, Alzheimer's Day care, LifeBlood and Red Cross, and the NAACP, among other local charities. Omicron Xi's members have demonstrated leadership through a variety of activities at Rhodes such as Honor Council Black Student Association, Residence Life. Admissions, and the Kinney Program. The ladies plan to further demonstrate their commitment to service and leadership in the community and inspire actions in whatever they do. "We are the Last Createdbut the Best Designed- EEE-YIP!!"

The greatest thing about a colleg e is the character and ability of its instructors. A grateful p r ide felt in the faculty o f Southwestern. The greatest care has been used in the selection of these men. They are all Christian men of sound scholarship and they are great teachers. The architecture is of the type and the plant is entirely modern, beautiful and enduring. Nothing has b een spared that contributes to the highest good and efficiency o f the individual student, and as a result CiJ'ea 19/1.5 Southwestern offers unusual advantages.
