By J a n e t Freem an A ssistant E d ito r CADIZ, KY - Trigg County’s Class of 1988 will long remember its drug- and alcohol-free Bon Voyage party. The seniors and their guests danced, sang, raced, ate and chatted the night away Tuesday, May 24. Two ■seniors each left the party, Project Graduation, with much more than what they came with - a car. John Herndon was the winner of a 1979 Jeep and Frankie Boone is the new owner of a 1979 Mustang. Mike Rose, chairman of Champions Against Drugs, said that 113 of 123 seniors participated in the all-night affair. In addition, about 100 volunteers and law enforce­ ment staff were on hand for the festivities. More than $10,000 in goods and services were donated by the community for the cause. The goal was $5,000. "That’s pretty phenomenal," Rose said of surpassing the goal. "It’s great that a small county like ours can get to­ gether and do something like this," he said. Mayor Scott Sivills, who chaperoned the party, said, "This is the best thing that’s happened in a long time in our school system." Sivills and his wife Carol helped serve food to the Class.
