  • DECLARATION of ANTHONY HARGROVE I Submit This
DECLARATION OF ANTHONY HARGROVE I submit this declaration in order to describe instructions I was given by New Orleans Saints Coaches about what to tell NFL investigators during their 2010 investigation of the Saints’ so-called ‘bounty’ program. 1. On or about February 24, 2010, I returned to New Orleans, Louisiana after a mission trip to Swaziland, Africa, and I received a telephone call from my New Orleans Saints defensive line coach, Bill Johnson. Coach Johnson informed me that Defensive Coach Gregg Williams needed to talk to me at the Saints facility. I immediately went to Coach Williams’ office for the meeting. 2. When I arrived in his office, Coach Williams was working on a depth chart, and he said to me, “I’ve got you plugged in at left end, Tony.” Coach Williams knew that defensive end was my preferred position. It wasn’t until later that I realized that the presentation Coach Williams gave me regarding my opportunity to start at defensive end might have had something to do with what he was about to tell me to do. In fact, later, after I had re-signed with New Orleans and had concluded my meeting with NFL security in the manner Coach Williams had instructed me, I was never given the opportunity to compete for the starting defensive end job. 3. Assistant Coach Joe Vitt joined Coach Williams and me in Williams’ office. Coach Williams told me that the NFL was coming to the Saints facility to ask questions about a complaint from the Vikings that there had been a “bounty” placed on Vikings quarterback Brett Favre by the New Orleans Saints defense prior to the NFC Championship game.

  • The Look Man Report 2005 Week Seventeen: Kodachrome
The Look Man Report 2005 Week Seventeen: Kodachrome "Times have changed, you know? Like black-and-white TVs (and then) color. It was Pittsburgh, and now it's Cincinnati. That's the way it's probably going to be for a while now, so everybody just get used to it." - Chad (The Dentist) Johnson after the 38-31 Bengals victory Dec. 4 in Pittsburgh Week 17 wrapped up the seedings for the 2005 postseason tournament. It also included the most coaches fired since the 1990, opening the window of opportunity for a host of young guns to relocate themselves and their families. With luck, some of them might actually live in these new cities for 3 years, though this is unlikely based upon past history. The five year plan in the NFL has become the two year plan. Win or go home no longer applies simply to the postseason. Coaches either win in this era of free agency, or they find themselves looking for employment elsewhere. The Three Mikes got the ax as Mike Sherman, Mike (Megalomaniac) Martz and Mike (Fried) Tice obtained a version of the home game. These terminations represent a loss of some good material for the LMR, as well as the Raiders firing of Norv (Tina) Turner in a continued Commitment to Excrement. NFL coaching vacancies become the game show du jour as Herm Edwards looks to take over in KC for the Crying Man. Other coaching candidates include the Iggles OC Brad Childress, D-Coordinators Tim Lewis, Ron Rivera, Ted Cottrell and Donnie Henderson. And of course, retreads like Megalo Martz, Sherman and Fried Tice are always in vogue.

  • Championship Round
New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton Monday, January 22, 2007 Opening Statement: Despite our late arrival from Chicago due to the weather conditions, it was unbelievable to see the turnout at the airport and the number of people who waited. It was cold. The reception we received from the fans was representative of the reception we received all season from them. We are grateful for it. Their resolve and loyalty to this team is certainly felt in the locker room and throughout the organization. We appreciate that. I know the players, coaches and everybody on that flight that stepped off the plane and drove through the streets of people were impressed and grateful. I want to thank the fans for all of their support this season. I said last night as the season’s finished now, this game will take a while to get over, but there is a still a lot of work and a long ways to go for this region. However in living here for a year, the resolve of the people in this area is unparalleled. It’s important that they know it’s not going to be easy, but over a period of time this city will be better than it ever was. I thank the fans on behalf of the team and the organization. We look forward to getting back in that game and getting into the biggest game of them all. It’s not easy. We’re starting our work in the off-season here. I just read where Bill Parcells retired. I think it’s only appropriate in my case to thank a guy who’s a Hall of Fame coach and one of the best coaches that’s ever worked in our league.

  • The Wrongful Conviction of Charles Milles Manson
45.2LEONETTI_3.1.16 (DO NOT DELETE) 3/12/2016 2:40 PM EYE OF THE BEHOLDER: THE WRONGFUL CONVICTION OF CHARLES MILLES MANSON Carrie Leonetti I. Imagine two crime stories. In the first, a commune of middle class, law-abiding young people living on the outskirts of Los Angeles were brainwashed by a dominating cult leader who ordered his followers to commit murders to usher in an apocalyptic race war. In his subsequent trial, the leader of the “kill-coven”1 engaged in outrageous behavior because he thought that mainstream society was inferior to him and incapable of understanding. In the second, a group of young, middle-class hippies, caught up in the summer of 1969, heavy drug use, and group contagion, committed the same murders. Afraid of the death penalty and having to face public responsibility for their actions, the murderers accused a mentally ill drifter, a delusional schizophrenic, whom the group had adopted as a mascot, of directing the murders. The only significant evidence implicating the drifter in their crimes was their claim that they were “following” him. The claims were given in exchange for leniency and immunity from prosecution for capital murder. Even prosecutors who charged the drifter conceded that he had not actively participated in the murders, proceeding to trial instead on the theory that he had commanded the others to commit the murders like “mindless robots.” The police and prosecutors went along because they wanted to “solve” and “win” the biggest case of their lives. The drifter’s Associate Professor, University of Oregon School of Law.
