Throughout the games and various formats the teams showed amazing depth, from the School boys, university boys to older boys. As with previous seasons we gave some of the larger league clubs a demonstration in the art of village cricket. There were some stand out performances with the bat from Morris and Sloan at the top of the order, and great middle order hitting and game management from the likes of Jasper Piper, Will Simpson and new boy Ben Browning. Notable mention must also go to Jonesy Jnr who notched up his maiden half century for the club, and outscored his old man for what will be the first of many seasons to come. The Bowling attack was once again driven by the ever dependable Smith and Bradney, taking close to fifty wickets between them and more often than not laying the foundation for victory. Jasper Piper took an impressive 20 wickets to add to his 400+ runs, and academy starlet Alex Barleet is certainly one to watch in 2018. Off the pitch Phil & Nicola pulled off another successful and thoroughly enjoyable fun day, raising much needed funds for the club and demonstrating the energy and dedication of the members. We move into the 2018 season stronger than ever, and with the establishment of the new Wealden Wallop 20/20 tournament and our inaugural entry into the National Village Cup, watch this space for continued success and the abundance of silverware. We welcome one and all to come to the ground on match day to enjoy the cricket and observe some of the finest sandwich making of an era. Jonesy 1 D.W. KIBBLEWHITE N.C.H., S.C.C. The weather was uniformly glorious, and we did not lose a single scheduled practice or match to rain. We were lucky enough to play most of our games at home on Monday night bathed in glorious sun. The setting was magnificent and huge thanks as ever needs to go to groundsman Peter Bourne. The U12s won the East Sussex league at first attempt as the unbeaten side in the competition guided by the accomplished captaincy of Gutteridge H. On the batting front, Durtnell W was ever reliable batting at number 4, topping the run scoring retiring 30 not out a number of times with his signature deft late cut to the fore. Taggart N continued to punch way above his weight as but a ten-year-old in the middle order. Special mention should go to Hall T whose batting was ‘most improved’ this year making some very handy runs further down the order. The rest of the boys all chipped in. Gutteridge H produced the innings of the season against Hailsham, smashing a Chris Gayle-esque 33 not out off about 10 balls opening up the innings. Vice-captain Bottle K was the all-rounder engine room of the team accumulating the 2nd highest number of runs batting in his methodical fashion at number 3 and taking 2nd highest number of wickets with some very accurate seam spells. Bowling was a real team effort with everyone making a contribution. Anthony G, Braxton H and Gutteridge H bowled aggressively and to good effect. Braxton A found a consistently nagging line and length and took the breath-taking catch of the season off his own bowling. Bond T is also one to watch for the future as he bowled some excellent spells.

This month's cover: ‘Meeting Point’ by Judy Vinson View from the Layne here’s a lot being talked about right now around the new normal and how we can preserve some of the good things that have happened during lockdown. There is T no automatic return to the old normal. Change is in the air. In church we pray for a very specific change very regularly when we pray: Thy kingdom come. The second line from the Lord’s Prayer, a prayer that echoes in the back of many minds. For Christians the prayer is part of every formal act of worship. The first thing we ask: Your kingdom, dear God on earth: but what, exactly are we asking for? The next line gives us a big clue: ‘as it is in heaven’.

The church celebrations, Holy Week, Easter, Ascension Day, Pentecost, Trinity and of course Christmas. They still happened but without the pomp and ceremony that we have become used to. Perhaps the pandemic has enabled us to go back to the sacredness of our church festivals and allowed us to engage with them in a more spiritual way. I’ve also missed my family and friends. The gatherings we would normally have during the year just haven’t happened.

Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan (DWMP) Rother Catchment 1 Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans River Rother Catchment - DRAFT Strategic Context The Environment Agency has previously defined the River Basin District catchments in their River Basin Management Plans prepared in response to the European Union’s Water Framework Directive. These river basin catchments are based on the natural configuration of bodies of water (rivers, estuaries, lakes etc.) within a geographical area, and relate to the natural watershed of the main rivers. We are using the same catchment boundaries for our Level 2 DWMPs. A map of the Rother river basin catchment is shown in figure 1. Figure 1: The Rother River Basin Catchment in East Sussex and Kent Based upon the Ordnance Survey map by Southern Water Services Ltd by permission of Ordnance Survey on behalf of the Controller of Her Majesty’s Stationery Office. Crown copyright Southern Water Services Limited 1000019426 2 Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans River Rother Catchment - DRAFT Overview of the River Rother Catchment The Rother catchment drains just over 982km2 of land in East Sussex and Kent, with the largest and longest river in the catchment being the River Rother. The catchment has a unique collection of river systems and man-made canals and includes the network of ditches, streams and sewers of the Romney Marsh and the 28 mile Royal Military Canal. The Rother rises near Rotherfield in Wealden district of East Sussex and flows for 35 miles through East Sussex and Kent to its mouth on Rye Bay on the English Channel. Along its course, it is joined by the Rivers Limden and Dudwell at Etchingham, the River Darwell to the north of Robertsbridge, and the Brede and Tillingham Rivers which join it at Rye before it discharges to the sea.

Welcome Lindsay. Hello Everyone. As I write this, Easter is just over two weeks away. Plans to decorate our churches for the festival are well in hand and occupying a central place will be the Easter garden. The Easter garden is full of symbolism. It represents the beauty of springtime, the yearly marvel of nature’s renewal. But it’s much more than that. The garden takes us back to creation when, said the ancient story, God planted a garden in Eden and placed Adam there to look after it.

Tenterden Neighbourhood Plan Evidence: Routeways Introduction Tenterden is blessed with an extraordinary heritage of footpaths and ancient roadways connecting the town with its landscape and history. These routeways are a unique asset for the community as well as being an attraction for visitors to the Parish. Tenterden is also a nodal centre for routes radiating to Rolvenden and Hastings (A28), Wittersham and Rye (B2080), Woodchurch (B2067), and Ashford and Maidstone (A28/A262). There are already many policy statements at national and local level relating to routeways, and Public Rights of Way (PROW) benefit from statutory protection. This paper summarises the policy background and analyses existing PROW and historic routeways in order to highlight opportunities to develop Neighbourhood Plan policies to address local requirements and for potential projects (including investment) to protect and enhance our routeways. Some of the evidence gathered in respect of routeways has been used to support the development of policy in other workstreams of the Neighbourhood Plan. This document, therefore, also provides wider contextual evidence in support of those proposed policies. 2 Routeways | Tenterden Neighbourhood Development Plan Routeways | Tenterden Neighbourhood Development Plan 3 Methodology A Routeways Working Group was formed to assist the Steering Committee in preparing the Tenterden Neighbourhood Plan. This dedicated group of volunteers has reviewed relevant parts of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), the Ashford Local Plan, 2030 (ALP), the AONB Management Plan 2019-2024 and High Weald Housing Design Guide, 2019 and the Sustrans Kent Town Audit of Tenterden, 2018. Members of the group have walked and documented the principal PROWs and in particular those that connect to the High Street.
