7:00 p.m. Community Partner Experience: She Lied: When Carolyn Bryant Dunham admitted to Carolyn Bryant and The Murder of Emmett Till historian Timothy Tyson that she fabricated the story that incited her husband and brother-in-law to kidnap and kill 14-year old Emmet Till in Mississippi in 1955, few were surprised. But many questions remain, about the historical roots of white roots of white supremacist thinking, and their impact today. Moderated by Tina Chen, former Chief of Staff to First Lady Michelle Obama, this scholarly discussion will also feature a performance from dancer and actor Isryel "Tales" Jules.

Contributors tell vivid, new, multimedia stories accompanied by illustration, animation, photography, and an original score performed onstage by our musical collaborators, Magik*Magik Orchestra.

Contributors to Pop-Up Magazine at the Atlantic Festival include The Atlantic staff writer Ed Yong, award-winning writer Daniel Alarcón (At Night We Walk In Circles), documentary flmmaker Sophia Nahli Allison, audio producers Stephanie Foo (This American Life) and Robin Amer (USA Today’s The City) and opera singer Emily Birsan. The show will explore a story of survival in the Congo; revisit a friendship amid the 1992 LA riots; feature a drunk voicemail or two; and more.

We end the night gathered around the bar, performers and audience together.
