He started his legal career at the City of Houston in 1993 as a municipal court prosecutor. In April 1997, Judge Acuña moved to the Land Use Division where he litigated nuisance abatement and sexually oriented business cases in state and federal courts. In November 1999, he was hired by the City of Dallas where it created the position of Assistant Chief Prosecutor for him. He served in that capacity until August 2004 when he was first appointed a full-time municipal judge. Judge Acuña has presided over various dockets including traffic, penal code, animal control, bond forfeitures, environmental pollution, substandard buildings, and gambling machine cases. Judge was the region III representative on TMCEC/TMCA board of directors from the Fall of 2013 to September 2016. He also served as chair for the board’s Education and Budget and Finance Committees. He has been a regular speaker for TMCEC and other entities on many subjects since 1994 including municipal court complaints, bail bond forfeitures, pretrial hearings, court interpreters, cross-examination, Chapter 54 and 125 cases, attorney general opinions, sexting, bullying, jury charges, pretrial matters and trial procedure. In July of 2016, Judge Acuña is the Immediate Past President of the TMCA and is the President of the Texas Municipal Courts Foundation. JAIME BREW Jaime Brew is the Municipal Court Administrator for the Coppell Municipal Court of Record. She has worked in municipal courts for over 11 years. Prior to working for the Coppell Municipal Court, Mrs. Brew worked for the Sugar Land Municipal Court and the by the Killeen Municipal Court of Record. Mrs. Brew received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. She also received her Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. Jaime participated in the Texas Court Clerks Certification Program and became a Certified Municipal Court Clerk (CMCC) in 2013. Recently, Jaime completed the certification program through the National Center for State Courts and has obtained her Certified Court Manager (CCM), Certified Court Executive (CCE), and ICM Fellow certifications. ROBBY CHAPMAN Robby Chapman is the Presiding Judge for the City of Rollingwood and Director of Clerk Education for the Texas Municipal Courts Education Center. Mr. Chapman earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. Mary’s University School of Law and Bachelor of Arts in History from The University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Chapman has served as Assistant District Attorney for Nueces County, Municipal Prosecutor for the City of Cedar Park, and as a defense attorney. Over his career, he has handled criminal cases ranging from fine-only misdemeanors to state jail felonies. In his role as Director of Clerk Education, Mr. Chapman directs twelve annual continuing education programs for court clerks and regularly speaks on legal issues throughout Texas. Current publications include the fifth and sixth editions of both the Green Book and the Court Clerk Study Guide. For his work in court clerk education, Mr. Chapman received the Outstanding Achievement in Education Award from the Texas Court Clerks Association in 2017. PETER DE LEEF Peter De Leef is a municipal judge with the City of El Lago and also has been practicing criminal law exclusively for the past 16 years. After graduating from law school, he spent more than four years as a Prosecutor in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office working under Johnny Holmes and Chuck Rosenthal. While at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, he spent time in the felony, misdemeanor, and JP courts of Harris County. Mr. de Leef has considerable experience in the juvenile division, family violence division, and justice of the peace division. He also has extensive experience in the trial bureau handling felony and misdemeanor cases. Mr. de Leef served as Chief Prosecutor for numerous county courts. CHASE GOMILLION Chase Gomillion joined the City of Austin Law Department in August 2015 and works as a prosecutor in the Criminal Prosecution division. Chase graduated from Baylor Law School in 2014, receiving a J.D. with a degree concentration in Criminal Law. Prior to law school, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Texas State University in San Marcos, graduating cum laude in 2008. Currently, Chase serves as the primary attorney assigned to the Code Enforcement dockets for the City of Austin. Chase prosecutes cases arising under the Austin City Code at the trial court level and regularly represents the City of Austin in appellate courts. In addition, Chase advises multiple City departments on enforcement and policy matters, and conducts training seminars for City personnel. In his free time, Chase is a cooking enthusiast and loves spending time with his wife and family. MARK GOODNER Mark Goodner is the Deputy Counsel and Director of Judicial Education for the Texas Municipal Courts Education Center (TMCEC). Annually, Mark plans, develops, and oversees ten Regional Judges Seminars per year each offering 16 hours of judicial education along with two 32-hour New Judges Seminars. In addition to his work at TMCEC, Mark serves as an Associate Judge for the cities of Bee Cave and Leander. Mark is a Certified Court Manager, having completed the Court Management Program of the Institute for Court Management in August 2016. Mr. Goodner graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1997 with a B.A. in Theatre and from the University of Texas School of Law with a juris doctorate and certification in the Graduate Portfolio Program in Dispute Resolution in May of 2007. RYAN HENRY Ryan Henry graduated with honors from New Mexico State University with dual bachelor’s degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology in 1995. He attended law school at Texas Tech School of Law and graduated in May of 1998. While attending law school, Ryan began clerking for the Lubbock City Attorney’s Office. He received his third-year practice card and began prosecuting municipal court complaints and appearing in Justice of the Peace court for the City. As a result, he began defending governmental entities even before he graduated from law school and so began his career supporting local governments. Upon graduation, Ryan began working in Brownsville, Texas, with the same focus. In June of 2002, Ryan moved to San Antonio and joined a local law firm doing the same thing. In 2012, Ryan started the Law Offices of Ryan Henry, PLLC. In June 2016 Ryan was listed as one of the best lawyers in municipal law by S.A. Scene Magazine in the San Antonio area. Ryan is also on the board for the State Bar Section - Government Law Council. BRIAN HOLMAN Brian Holman was born and raised in San Diego, California and attended Brigham Young University where he received a B.A. in Political Science. Judge Holman went on to earn his Law degree from the University of Arkansas. While living in Spain, Judge Holman developed a fluency in the Spanish language which he continues to use in his current position as presiding judge for the Lewisville Municipal Court. He serves as alternate judge for the City of Aubrey and is the prosecutor for the Cities of Justin and Pilot Point. Prior to taking the bench full-time, Judge Holman had a private law practice for 10 years in Denton, Texas, where he still resides with his wife of more than 30 years. Judge Holman has served as President of the Texas Municipal Courts Association and on the Board of Directors representing Region 3. He also has served as a member of the TMCEC faculty since 2002. TIMOTHY KIRWIN Timothy Kirwin has been a Judge at Hedwig Village for over 7 years.
