Comic Relief: Multi-cloud, multi-foundation, 400 real-time donations per second, zero downtime, 100% success Over the past 30 years, Comic Relief [http://www.comicrelief.com/] has raised over £1 billion for good causes around the world and in the UK. Through their two campaigns Red Nose Day [www.rednoseday.com] and Sport Relief [http://www.sportrelief.com/], they used the money donated by the great British public to make their vision a reality: a just world, free from poverty. Founded in 1985 by comedy scriptwriter Richard Curtis and comedian Lenny Henry in response to famine in Ethiopia, every year Comic Relief has grown in size and influence. In its first telethon in 1998 it raised £76,610. In 2015, it raised £99,418,831. Every two years, Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day takes over primetime Friday night BBC TV for seven hours. The telethon is responsible for the majority of Comic Relief’s annual fundraising, attracting a large audience who donate money via the website or a network of 14,000 call centre operators across 120 call centres who donate their time for free. “With an increasing number of donations to Comic Relief being taken online, it is critical we have 100% confidence in our donations platform. All have strong professional connections to the topic of charitable giving and/or developing agenda-setting narratives for prosocial impact. Interviews ran between 20-45 minutes and broadly addressed how charity, philanthropy, giving, volunteerism and other associated themes are depicted on U.S. television, both in broadcast and other streamed media, as it appears in scripted and non-scripted content and broadcast news. This report presents a summary of the interviews and their findings, with direct quotes providing the supporting narrative and recommendations. This call for papers was released in concert with the publication of ArtsPraxis Volume 7, Issue 1 and upon the launch of the new ArtsPraxis homepage. The submission deadline for Volume 7, Issue 2b was July 15, 2020. Submissions fell under the category of Social Justice Practices for Educational Theatre. Social Justice Practices for Educational Theatre As of early June, 2020, we found ourselves about ten days into international protests following the murder of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Protesters the world over made specific calls to action: acknowledge that black lives matter, educate yourself about social and racial injustice, and change the legal system that allows these heinous acts to go unpunished. In thinking through how we in the field of educational theatre could proactively address these needs, I reminded myself that there were many artists and educators who were already deeply engaged in this work.
