Case Study: Dorset’s Natural Health at its best White Hart Link: A circular walking route connecting towns and villages in North Dorset Lead Partner: White Hart Link Other Partners: Dorset Council Project Summary The aim of the project was to raise the profile of North Dorset as an area of environmental interest, through the development and enhancement of a 50 mile (80 km) circular walking route between the five market towns of North Dorset (Gillingham, Shaftesbury, Blandford Forum, Sturminster and Stalbridge) and the villages in between. Appendix 1 North Dorset District Council Local Development Framework Assessment of Settlements Based on Population and Community Facilities Supporting Document to the Core Strategy: Issues and Options Paper May 2007 1.0 Introduction Scope and Purpose of the Report 1.1 In light of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 and Planning Policy Statement 12: Local Development Frameworks, North Dorset District Council is undertaking evidence gathering work to assist in the preparation of its Local Development Framework (LDF), which will have regard to, and will contribute to, the achievement of sustainable development. 1.2 The main objective of this report is to identify and audit the current services and facilities presently found in all settlements within the District and the resident population of those settlements. This report will be used as part of the evidence base in the production of the Council’s Core Strategy. 1.3 This supporting document aims to generate options for the identification of sustainable settlements. These towns and villages will be the focus for future development and will be shown with a settlement boundary in the Council’s Core Strategy. 1.4 This report serves as only a part of the evidence base which will inform the production of the Council’s Core Strategy. Full stakeholder and community consultation will be undertaken, following the statutory requirements of the ‘new’ planning system, and the corporate objectives of the Council, in order that the final decisions made by the Council are fully informed by the views of the District’s communities. The Local Plan and Emerging Regional Spatial Strategy 1.5 A primary strategy of the Local Plan is to concentrate development, especially that defined as major, to the main settlements in the District.

Apologies – There were apologises for absence from Dora Sherringham, Anne England and Martin Jelbart. 2. Declarations of Interest – There were no declarations of interest. 3. Minutes of Previous Meeting The Minutes of the meeting held on 19th September 2018 were read and approved and following the meeting signed by the Chairman. 4. Matters Arising i) Compton Abbas Airfield Meeting – The Chairman had attended this meeting. There was nothing that specifically concerned Sutton Waldron. The main topic was County Highways reporting on the new junction between the airfield road and the C13. Construction is planned for Spring 2019. ii) Drains – The Clerk had followed this up and Rolly Skeats - the Community Highways Team Leader had confirmed that he had asked the owners of the field at Sutton House if Highways could have access to the field to reconnect the pipe that at present empties into the pond so that it can get to its original and preferred outfall which was the stream. The owners had asked if this work could be delayed until the spring as the work that Highways would need to do would damage the field too much at this time of the year. Rolly Skeats has confirmed he will follow this up next year. The Clerk would also follow this up early next year.

C McHenry (Chairman), S Ryan, C Owen, T Clements J Coupe, M Wheatley (Clerk) and 2 members of the public. PUBLIC QUESTIONS There were no Public Questions. MINUTES The Chairman welcomed Jess Low and Tony Ingleton who were present at the meeting and had expressed an interest in joining the Parish Council. 28/08/01 Apologies for absence – There were apologies for absence from Cllr. M Owen and Dorset Cllr. Jane Somper 28/08/02 Declarations of Interest – Cllr. Clements declared a non-pecuniary interest in the problems with the parking around The Old Barn which would be discussed under planning. 28/08/03 Statement by Clerk concerning the approval of the Statutory Accounts and Statements for 2018/19. The Clerk confirmed that the Accounts and Statements were approved at the meeting in May. The S1 Governance Statement had been read out and all of the other documents were available to be seen at that meeting. It subsequently came to light that notwithstanding that the PC approved these documents they had not been circulated to the PC prior to the meeting. The Clerk had circulated the accounts after the meeting and she had not received any comments save from Cllrs. Clements and McHenry approving the same. 28/08/04 Approval of Minutes held on 15th May 2019 - The minutes had been circulated to the Councillors and were unanimously approved save that Cllr. Coupe confirmed she had not agreed to be responsible for the Parish Council’s Assets in Compton Abbas.

NORTH DORSET IN THE COUNTY OF DORSET 1. We, the Local Government Boundary Commission for England, having carried out our initial review of the electoral arrangements for the district of North Dorset in accordance with the requirements of section 63 of, and Schedule 9 to, the Local Government Act 1972, present our proposals for the future electoral arrangements for that district. 2. In accordance with the procedure laid down in section 60(l) and (2) of the 1972 Act, notice was given on 31 December 1974 that we were to undertake this review. This was incorporated in a consultation letter addressed to the North Dorset District Council, copies of which were circulated to the Dorset County Council, the Member of Parliament for the constituency concerned, Parish Councils and Parish meetings in the district and the headquarters of the main political parties. Copies were also sent to the editors of local newspapers circulating in the area and of the local government press. Notices inserted in the local press announced the start of the review and invited comments from members of the public and from interested bodies. 3.
