When I close it it clcks shut but the right hand side tends not to shut properly at first and i have to press again on that side to get the door to close flush. My concern here is that the door may have been damaged at some point and that there may be an alignment issue. Or it could be that this is natural behaviour and all of the film doors on this model close this way. The second is the distance scale on the left hand side.

Theres no scale appearing on mine when I extend the bellows, its just a blank strip of silver. Im guessing broken, but is this a common fault. Thanks for any help anyone can give. DaveWith regards to the back closing, if you dont iuse two hands both thumbs, the door wont close correctly. I think they tell you that in the manual, and thats been the case with all of mine. In that case, just replace the seals, and then both sides will require a little more pressure. Just remember to make sure the back is properly closed. If it isnt, when you load a roll, the counter will never move off the S, and youll wind the fresh unexposed film all the way to the take up spool. Dont ask how I know that. As for the focusing scale, if you look on page 16 of the manual it shows you what it should look like. The focus scale on my C330 which I would think is the same is thin metal plate that is wrapped around the bar and held on with a screw. My guess is you dont have the screw, and the plate fell off. The entire bar is replaceable see also pg 16 of the manual. There are two solutions for this. 1 find a replacement or a donor parts camera and put one on 2 live without it. I dont zone focus, so I never look at the scale. As for the bellows exposure compensation, the flag in the VF also tells you where you are in regards to that, so, as long as you set the dial to the correct lens focal length, the information is duplicated in the VF. Know, knowing what the dial is set to is the trick. Locate the screw hole on the bar by extending the bellows fully. Rotate the bar until you see it. The screw is on the 65mm plane. So you could mark them in a way so youll know which plane corresponds to which lens, and use it that way.The seal looks good so I suspect this is more about me not being familiar with the camera.

DaveMay be worth it.Although the distance scale is on the extending bar and I can rotate it to set the desired focal length, nothing happens in the silver distance scale window it just remains silver. Initially I thought this was just a window so I couldnt fathom out why the bar with the distance scales on it wasnt showing through the window. I now understand that there is a silver bar in the distance scale window that partially covers the distance scale its supposed to move as the bellows move, and where it stops it shows the distance. I suspect that this is broken and the silver bar is covering the entire scale and never moves. Ive checked the parallax compensation flag in the viewfinder when extending the bellows and this appears to be functioning fine. So all I need to do now is decide how likely it is that Im going to need the distance scale, and the answer is probably not much if at all. My C2 has a lug that came loose. When there is no tension on my strap, the lug flops around a little and will jam the focus rack and it will not move. Just a thought. I bought my Mamiya C330F from Superbuy in my home town of Wakefield during the summer, and it has soon become on of my favorate cameras. Unfortunately, a Rolleiflex was simply too expensive, costing over ten times what I paid for my Mamiya 140, and I felt that this camera would offer a similar image quality.This camera weighs nearly 2kg, but is worth it’s weight in gold in terms of image quality. I used a single roll of Delta 400, to test out the camera. As this camera doesn’t have a built in light metre, I used a hand held Sekonic L308 meter to find the right aperture and shutter speeds. It really gets the best out of the film, while the satisfying winding of the crank adds to the experience. Using the depth of field with this camera really is a joy. As with all fully manual film cameras, the C330F isn’t massively quick to operate, and requires patience, concentration and a lot of thought to frame, setup and take a shot. Again, the camera will reward those who are prepared to do this. I chose Kodak Ektar 100 as the film I’d use, due mainly to the beautiful bright conditions. However, the C330F produced brilliant colours with Kodak Ektar 100 I added a 3 way spirit level I bought off ebay into the cold shoe to help me line up level shots. I wasn’t disappointed with the camera with my Cadwell shots, but disappointed with myself that I couldn’t get better compositions. Spotting interesting details and using the prime nature of 80mm to photograph them produced some great results. Depth of field with this lens is the key to unlocking great medium format images. The lens and format manages to pick up the Alcantara on the steering wheel. Film can then be wound through the empty reel by rotation the crank. Once the large arrows point into the red dot in the back of the camera, the back can be closed and the film wound on. The crank system automatically locks after each wind, but there is an option for multiple exposures too.

Framing compositions of this stunning building is easy, as it looks great from every angle. The shadows on the building really bring out the form and structure. Leading lines bring the eye into the logo, and the blue and orange colours work well together. The paddock would offer a good opportunity to photograph closeups of the cars sitting in the paddock. Blue skies with a hint of cloud and lush green landscapes provided great background of the vintage Frazer Nash of James Baxter. I had to get creative with shots around the paddock and by the circuit. With very short minimum focusing distances, the camera can be much more useful as it can do a much larger variety of shots. The viewfinder does have an exposure compensation guage too, which not only shows the level of compensation needed, but also the parallax correction. This appears at the left of the ground glass when winding the focusing dial. I really liked the colours and image quality that the C330F provided for this. You may have to carry a large weight around, along with a light meter, but the C330F will deliver when you do manage to set up and take your photograph. Slow to set up, 12 shots per roll, and the need for a light meter make it a camera to savour, rather than one to blast away and hope for the best with. There are additional lenses, as the Mamiya does allow for these to be changed and is one of only a handful of TLRs to do so. I’d put my neck out and say that this camera is much better value for money than a Rolleiflex, even if there is no built in light meter. They are repairable, as are the lenses. The lens in my camera was very sticky when I bought it, but I sent it to be serviced at Sandean Cameras in London and it came back as good as new although this did cost almost as much as the camera. They are worth repairing and keeping in circulation, as they do last well and produce excellent results.

It extracts the best out of any film stock, is very robust and well made, and the lens is simply incredible.
