The presence of eight gas fields and one oil field makes this an area that is interesting both economically and geologically. In spite of detailed geological and geophysical investigations, information available on palynostratigraphy and geochemistry for the area is scanty. The aim of the present work was to investigate the palynological assemblages, mineralogy and geochemistry of the Surma Group (SG) sequences in Surma Basin, Bangladesh. Core samples (n = 188) were gathered from the wells following: Patharia well-5, Rashidpur well-1, Atgram well- IX, Habiganj well-1, Kailastila well-1 and Fenchuganj well-2. -

1.37 P r e f a c e Annual Report entitled Gas Production and Consumption was prepared and published by Hydrocarbon Unit for the first time in October 2005. The present one is the issue of Annual Report on Gas Production and Consumption for the period of July 2019 to June 2020. In this report, gas production by State-owned Enterprise (SoE), International Oil Companies (IOC) and Joint Venture Undertakings in Bangladesh have been reflected. Daily average gas production rate and Condensate-Gas ratio have been included in the report as well. Moreover, sector-wise gas supply and consumption along with Unaccounted for Gas (UFG) have been illustrated with a monthly graphical presentation. This report has been prepared based on the data available from the Monthly Reserve and Gas Production Report of HCU and Monthly Information System (MIS) of Petrobangla. It is expected that the report will be helpful as reference book and elements of interest for the concerned. Journal of Business Studies, Vol. XXXV, No. 2, August 2014 Sustainable Tourism Development in Bangladesh: An Empirical Study on Sylhet Nusrat Jahan* Mohammad Ruhual Amin** Abstract : Sustainable tourism development indicates the travel and tourism designed to minimize the impacts of visitors and tourists on the places they visit, encourage protection of both cultural and natural heritage, upkeep the environment, and provide long-term means for social improvements and economic opportunities for local residents. Sustainability principles refer to the environmental, economic, and socio-cultural aspects of tourism development, and a suitable balance must be established between these three dimensions to guarantee its long-term sustainability. Sylhet, most picturesque and naturally affluent regions in Bangladesh, is a major tourist destination in Bangladesh and has the great potential to be developed and promoted as a major sustainable tourism destination of Bangladesh. This study elucidates the social, cultural, environmental, economical, political and other factors affecting the sustainability of the Sylhet through factor analysis and other measurements and provide recommendation about the initiatives that should be taken to mitigate and to control the negative impacts of tourism (environmentally, economically, and socially) to make Sylhet as a sustainable tourism destination. Its total contribution comprised 9.5% of global GDP (US $7 trillion) and the sector generated over 266 million jobs – 1 in 11 of all jobs in the world. The industry outperformed the entire wider economy in 2013, growing faster than other notable industries such as manufacturing, financial services, and retail (WTTC, 2014). -
